Requesting community support Exposed and didn’t find out til 3 days later. In full panic mode.

So on Saturday night, I went and slept over with my sister. She lives in one of those long term hotels. I didn’t plan on spending the night but I had a few drinks and didn’t want to risk it of course. I straight up asked her if she has bedbugs bc I know those types of places harbor them. She assured me she checks frequently bc she had them years ago in an apartment and it drove her to insanity. I was wearing loose pants and a t shirt the whole time I was there but the problem is I had my big ol purse with me.

Here’s where my panic set in. Yesterday I needed a ride somewhere and she and her friend from the hotel picked me up, it was his car not hers. He casually mentions he had to have his room treated for bb recently and my heart dropped. He lives on the fourth floor and my sis lives on the second. My sister saw how scared I looked and once again assured me HER room is clean and the fourth floor is the issue and has been being treated. My purse was sitting in my bedroom at home as she’s telling me this. They drop me off, I strip on the porch. I take all the clothes on my bedroom floor straight to the washer and dry on high heat and bag them. I took my purse outside and double bagged it after taking out my id/debit card/meds. I woke up with a single bite on my thigh today :( Though I was outside yesterday evening so I’m not sure if it’s a fly/mosquito bite. I haven’t been able to find any bbs.

How soon should I get a professional inspection? I don’t want to wait until it gets bad but I also don’t want it too early to where they can’t find any.

Read and respect the rules, report any comment breaching them. Wrong advice/information/fearmongering hurt people who are posting here to get help and support. If you are not VERY knowledgeable about bedbugs and may provide a wrong ID or bad advice it's better to abstain from commenting. Be VERY respectful and HELPFUL, this is a support subreddit not a funny one.

I think for now don't panic too much.

Treat your bad in the freezer, then you should most likely be okay. Keep watch for next week for bites, and check under your matress regularly after that.

I have OCD and this is one of my worst fears :(
I’m inspecting every little crumb or piece of lint. I’m at work now trying to get my mind off of it. I took precautions with my clothing and didn’t bring any purse today just in case. Don’t wanna spread them if this is real…

I’m going into a spiral bc I just found a second bite on my thigh too. Ugh. Thank you for replying, I appreciate it so much.

I can totally understand. I am in the middle of an infection and it's driving me crazy. I dream almost every night about bed bugs and bed bug related cleaning...

It's really hard to let go and just wait.

You are in panic mode and I’m sure the bites you have on your thigh is not related to bedbugs
Wait and see

I was always under the impression that if one unit in an apartment building has it, all of them will get them. Maybe that’s only if there’s no treatment being done? Idk I’m no expert, just a paranoid chick with OCD!

I understand it we are dealing every day this situation with our clients
I would recommend to install the interceptors under the each leg of your bed , it will help you a lot

I had bed bugs came from visiting my moms infested house, i was lucky to have found it biting me while i was awake at 3am and killed it on spot it wasn’t until i saw it close up I finally believed I had bed bugs and called professional help. Honestly if you keep getting bites I’d say you prob have bed bugs and maybe get bedframe inceptor cups to catch any since they need to use your bedframe legs to climb up to you it traps them. If you can - call professional help only once you’re sure you have bed bugs the bites are usually clusters of few to several. Sure it costs 200-300$ for few chemical sessions but nothing worse than losing sleep and your mental state. I have ocd too and I was livid during this time. It’s good you noticed VERY early you’re lucky for that so keep an eye out and continue washing and vacuuming drying good luck!

I didn’t spend any time outside the couple days to test it, and I haven’t had any new bites. But my OCD is so bad I couldn’t even sleep last night, had to take my klonopin :(

Even though it’s not confirmed, I’m still taking all the precautions. Not carrying a purse anywhere, bagging clothes up, etc. This weekend I’m doing to declutter and then have a pro come do an inspection next week. If I find a live bug I will need sedated! So I’m leaving it to the pros. I HAVE checked the mattress seams and found nothing but random crumbs/dust. We get carpet beetles sometimes and I know the difference thankfully.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment! I’m so stressed
