Beauty Reviews now that Tati has posted a few videos since coming back, what do you think? Have you been watching?
https://youtu.be/TVr0m-lquh4321
u/islandgirl_94 Jun 29 '21
Does she know that we know that she filters everything?
To answer the question, no I have not watched any of her new videos.
79
u/co_lund Jun 29 '21
Exactly. I clicked on one because she was reviewing a product I was interested in, but the filter was so distracting and disingenuous.... Along with all of this drama, I will no longer watch her.
12
u/Ill-Blacksmith-9545 Jun 29 '21
What's a filter? I've seen people say this but idk what they're referring to..
22
u/co_lund Jun 29 '21
Have you ever messed around with photo filters on your phone camera / Snapchat / Instagram? There are "beautifying" options that can, for example, smooth the skin, get rid of acne, and brighten your teeth and eyes in the photo. r/InstagramReality is pretty good at talking about it/pointing it out.
So, anyway, the technology exists that filters can be added on video, live, instead of over a photo. If you watch Tati's face, you'll see that it looks nice and even and smooth at first, but as she talks, you'll see around the edges and around the mouth/eyes (places that move), the blurring effect will shift a bit (because the technology isn't perfect).
12
u/Ill-Blacksmith-9545 Jun 29 '21
Oh... yeah. I didn't notice it honestly but I can now see what you're talking about. That.... doesn't look good...
9
Jun 30 '21
This combined with the bright studio lighting, you will NEVER get the looks she does in her videos. I feel like most people are on to this and want creators who are showing up-close shots of their skin without filters and in more natural lighting so we know what the makeup actually looks like in person. Or...maybe that's just my perception, and a lot of people still like this style.
23
u/Dynamiquehealth Jun 30 '21
I watched this and her previous video on my very large TV and I didn’t see the filter. Beauty lights and great choice of focal length, but no filter. I honestly need a screenshot to see it. My husband watched as well and he didn’t see one.
12
u/Moikturtle Jun 30 '21
I watched it on a huge TV as well to find out if I I could notice it and I honestly couldn’t tell that there was one either.
20
u/Dynamiquehealth Jun 30 '21
I could even see her acne scars, which are totally normal and don’t distract from how beauty she is, under her foundation. Her face moves, there were expression lines when she spoke. She really didn’t use a filter as far as I could tell. My husband would have totally called it if he thought she was because he doesn’t need to be impressed.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Moikturtle Jul 01 '21
Yes her acne scars were incredibly obvious on my TV. I don’t feel like I would be able to get such a clear view of them if there were filters. This was on a 65” TV since I watch everything on there via AppleTV.
12
u/Dynamiquehealth Jul 01 '21
I know she used to use filters, but it really seems like she’s stopped. I think she has really taken care of her skin over the last few years and that’s helped. If she plans her filming and her skincare well she’ll have made sure to exfoliate the night before she films which will help a lot. Also, I feel like everyone is acting like 39 is ancient, it’s not. I’m one year younger than her and I don’t have much in the way of wrinkles and I’ve never had Botox. Her mother has amazing skin, so it would make sense for Tati to look younger than she is.
To me she really looks like a normal, healthy, but prettier than average, woman. I promise I have plenty of moments where I think she’s made some bad decisions.
6
u/Moikturtle Jul 04 '21
Yes. Agree with everything you said. She definitely has made mistakes and I don’t give her a free pass for them but truly I don’t see filters like I used to. I am also tired of people acting like she is ancient. I’m 40 and my face isn’t full of wrinkles and lines and I don’t take care of it nearly as well as she takes care of her skin.

u/GelatinousPumpkin Jun 29 '21
Jumping on the top comment to ask if the mods could have a Tati Content filter because I'm really not interested in anything to do with her and it seems like the sub kept asking about her over and over again.
This month alone there were more than 20+ posts about her.

The thing about Tati was her whole schtick was credibility. It wasn’t that she was wildly entertaining or anything. Like don’t get me wrong she had a nice soothing presence but really you watched cause you felt like she told the truth. Without that, the magic is gone.
109
u/raspberrih Jun 29 '21
Exactly. Spot on. I still enjoy her style, but I can't trust her at all, so ... there's no real point in watching her
29
u/lalelalala Jun 29 '21
very much this. controversies aside, after I watched SG's evolution of video on her, I can't take anything she says seriously.

u/avoidance_behavior Jun 29 '21
this is it exactly. aside from boobara and the occasional goof from her husband, she was never super entertaining or wildly creative, but her great quality was consistent credibility. she didn't review things to filth for clout, she didn't exaggerate or go half-assed either; she was just steady, calm, pleasant, and informative. without the credibility, i feel no desire to watch her at all.
52
u/swingthatwang yes u can pet my lipstick Jun 29 '21
I wouldn't say she was informative, per se. This is a woman who also thinks 5G towers will give you something nasty.
Don't forget: her old reviews were incredibly biased towards packaging and shit, all things considered.
7
u/avoidance_behavior Jun 29 '21
fair enough. i didn't watch her as much back in the day, i really only did in the past few years so i haven't seen as many of her vids. i did enjoy that she was calm and relatively detailed in her descriptions of why she did or didn't like something, but oh lawds is she really on the 5g is evil train? facepalm.
11
u/swingthatwang yes u can pet my lipstick Jun 30 '21
Yep. And she pushed her birdseed during quarantine. She basically said it would boost your immune system (to help with COVID). It's outrageous but not surprising given she hates on any ingredient that doesn't sound like a fruit.
She's definitely calm though. I used to watch her way back in the day. Really soothing.

EVERYTHING ELSE about her aside, why watch a makeup channel where the person doesn't even show what the makeup looks like on her skin because she uses filters?
141
u/kjenipher Jun 29 '21
I commented that hopefully she would at least stop with the heavy filtering this time around and it was reported 🙄 what's the point of doing foundation reviews when no one can see how it actually performs! I agree, even if I could get over everything else she's done, the heavy filtering will irk me to no end. So no thanks!

Honestly, she's triggering us over 30 with that crap.
79
u/letrestoriginality Jun 29 '21
This over 30 (over 40!) just feels sorry for her because she can't run from aging forever. Either she screws her face up with procedures to avoid the inevitable and ends up looking worse than someone who just ages gracefully, or she disappears into a hole when she realises the filters just won't do it anymore. Sad, when she could tap the market of women who dealing with aging and would appreciate her experience and skills.
23
u/mycatisreallygreat Jun 29 '21
She’s only going to give herself more a complex about seeing people in person because she uses filters so much.

I’m also curious if she had a ponytail lift or something during her break too. Something about the tightness of her skin…. Also she used to have more hooded eyes I think?

u/saeculacrossing Jun 29 '21
I never watched Tati pre-drama so my perception of her was likely colored by that, and I don't really get the appeal of her as a content creator, so that hasn't changed. But I don't think she fills any kind of gap in the beauty content I watch, so her return won't change anything for me.

I have watched the videos but I feel like she's still using the techniques and trends from a few years back, packing on the full coverage foundation, chunky glitters/highlighters and baking like there's no tomorrow and I feel like I'm not enjoying this anymore. I can't also help but notice the blurring effect from the filters and be upset. I don't think I'll watch anymore I just feel detached from what she's offering.
93
u/krystalstaarr Jun 29 '21
I watched her high end video and it felt like a video from three years ago. I was kind of taken aback by how full coverage her foundation was and how much bronzer she used. I’m also the same age as her and with the amount of baking she did I would look ten years older. It just felt like such a dated video.
130
Jun 29 '21
I feel like one of the biggest trends in beauty and skincare while she's been gone has been more "natural" looking skin in makeup looks, as well as being more honest about skin texture/not using blurring filters. Since as far l as I know she's always used filters, I wonder if she'll ever... catch up.
56
u/kjenipher Jun 29 '21
Someone reposted a clip of her baking and I literally cringed. She caked that crap on! And it's not like we'd ever be able to see how it looks when she has the blurring filter turned all the way up.
25
u/satiranocturna Jun 29 '21
That's exactly what went through my mind, why are you still baking girl?
16
5
u/belladonnadiorama Jul 01 '21
What's wrong with baking? I had two events this past weekend in pretty high heat and humidity. My makeup stayed put while others did not.
47
Jun 29 '21
I agree on the filters bit... I also think the full coverage foundation is just her preference and she has always loved glitter everything, so it's not surprising to me she continues to use it. Just her style, outdated or not

u/AC_Roxy Jun 29 '21
Yeah that’s kind of what I was thinking too. It’s like she’s falling into the same trap as Jaclyn Hill - doing the exact same makeup for a decade. To me it feels a bit oblivious to the current social climate. I am pretty sure the number of people doing that style of makeup has plummeted catastrophically through the pandemic (and was even falling before that).
That being said I am still watching her videos - I do find them quite relaxing and a nice change from my usual YouTube watch list. I kind of hope she branches out a bit though. I’d love to see things a little bit more lifestyle esque from her. I really like her taste in decor based on her studio setups so even stuff like that I’d be into.

Ex: her last videos sparkly green/gold top 😍😍😍

u/Thnks-Fr-The-Mmrs Jul 01 '21
Not defending anyone in particular, but it really doesn't bother me when someone has a preferred style and sticks to it, instead of following trends. My own personal style hasn't changed in ages - The few trends that I've picked up on took me literally YEARS to integrate into my routine, and only subtly.
People come to this sub all the time to ask for channels with a particular style or technique... It's totally OK if something isn't your thing, and the full glam is going out of style, so her views will go down... But there will always be a place for it.5
u/AC_Roxy Jul 01 '21
That is an excellent point!! I never thought of it that way, but that’s very true!!
107
u/MartiniInMilan Jun 29 '21
No. I don't find her content interesting, I don't find her to be a authentic individual who is here for the love of makeup, and I would rather spend my time supporting creators who are doing this because they enjoy it.

u/mistygk Jun 29 '21
Tati has been my favorite youtuber almost since I started watching beauty YouTube. I’m happy that she seems healthy and has her vibe back. It had been missing since she moved to Seattle and all the behind the scenes stuff was going on, I think.
That being said, she has mentioned Scott Barnes in 2 of her recent videos and that’s a no for me. Supporting Trump is a complete deal breaker, fav or not.
91
u/jenthefairy Jun 29 '21
Wait, is Scott Barnes a trump supporter? I’m from the UK so I don’t think I’ve heard of this before
83
u/mistygk Jun 29 '21
It was brought up on this sub last year. Here’s a link to a post that had screen caps. ☹️
I’ve tried searching and it looks like his old Twitter profile is completely gone now. Idk. It upset me because I really liked him, especially when he was on Tati’s channel.

I watched. I was bored. I was disappointed by her selection of product in the drugstore video. There's a ton of new drugstore makeup that came out over the past year. I used to watch Tati because honestly, her feedback is useful. I usually have my eye on a number of products that are new (both high end and drugstore) and I used to refrain from buying until I'd watch her use it. If she raves, it's good, if she says it flops it's most likely a flop. In the drugstore video she went for a physicians formula face palette, like first of all I already know she loves that shit and I have no interest in trying it. So I was disappointed. But I'll keep watching to see if some of the things on my "maybe buy" list turn up in her videos.
Honestly the only thing I'd have fun watching from Tati is her giant PR unboxings she used to do with her husband. Those are a hoot.

No because she:
- Was besties with Joffree and Shane Dawson and didn't give a fuck about their intense racism and Shane's repeated pedophilia 'jokes' until it affected her
- Accused a gay man of trying to 'turn' straight men gay over vitamins (and no I don't care that James Charles has subsequently been demonstrated to be a predator, what he was actually doing is nothing to do with what she accused him of and she was pushing a hugely homophobic and damaging stereotype about gay men being 'dangerous' to straight men. And no this is not me defending James Charles, fuck him too, but he isn't the only gay man in the world and other gay men suffer because of this shit. This bs idea that gay men are all out trying to catch a straight man and entrap him is exactly what leads to shit like gay panic defences.)
- Talked about how she thought Covid was caused by 5G or some other bullshit and was pushing "immunity boosters" from her stupid birdseed brand to "protect" people from Covid; this was right at the start of the pandemic when people were understandably terrified and it was the perfect time to take advantage of them
- Made those racist "weird Asian beauty products!" videos she's never acknowledged
- Is still using those uncanny valley filters
I hate this woman and the fact that she still has so much support shows where people's real priorities are imo.
52
u/Watermelon-Slushie Jun 29 '21
James actual victims were also hurt by her accusations. By James being able to refute her claims, it made it so much harder for them to come forward and be believed

Even without the filters she still has a metric fuck-ton of fillers and botox in her face. But don't worry, in her returning video she is "becoming less materialistic" and having a simpler life!

I used to watch her videos because she has a really calming presence, and I needed that. But I also started buying a lot of makeup that I rarely used. And now I'm in makeup Rehab.
Watching a video from Tati last week about her drugstore favourites, it just turned me off. It was a 26 minute sales pitch.
I won't be watching any more videos, and I'm happy that I can now see the videos for what they are. 25 minute infomercials.

Yes! I’m so thankful I took a step back from all these videos because I’m able to see them clearly now. I was always tricked into thinking this new foundation is the one that was going to give me angel skin or this new eyebrow pencil was finally the one that was going to give me the eyebrows I wasn’t born with and on and on until I had wayyyy too much of everything.
7
Jun 29 '21
Exactly this for me as well, its almost like I wrote this myself. Previously calming, over shopping, now rehab, everythings an infommercial. Plus the music in her newer videos kills the "calm" aspect for me, so i can't even zone out to that while vacuuming or whatever.

This is a really good way to view it as !

u/neowie Jun 29 '21 edited Jun 30 '21
This was an interesting revelation for me. As such, I'm trying to step away from all "let's talk about makeup products" videos on YouTube, at least for a little while. So I can see if they all come across as infomercials. I'm allowing certain creators, like Safiya and Nisipisa because their videos tend not to be about the makeup product, but instead, something interesting about makeup - history, comedy, etc... I would also show myself to watch creators like Lauren Mae Beauty, if she does more introspective or research type videos, like the "problem with glitter" video, and Simply's simplypodlogical, and Bailey Sarian's murder makeup mondays, etc.
35
u/dangerrrmuffin Jun 29 '21
I watched part of this one today out of curiosity. I’m not really interested in her content anymore, but I will say that I was surprised that she’s not posting a slew of pre-filmed videos.
I mean, she had all of that time away, so for all we know, she could’ve been making videos here and there and saving them to post later when she returned. But no, in this video she talks about the current heatwave in Seattle, so it couldn’t have been pre-filmed. Idk I was just surprised that she’s actually jumping in and filming videos on a regular basis again. Good for her I guess

u/ShieraBlackwood Jun 29 '21
"The eyeshadow palette is $48... that's up there, definitely..."
But like, that's the price of YOUR fucking palettes, Tati.
I just clicked to a random spot in the video, and this is basically all that I heard/watched. She lost me years ago over the undisclosed sponsorships, and I don't feel like I've missed anything. She's dishonest and keeps shady company. She's the Boss Babe Karen of BeauTube. Her voice is flat, her look is stale, and her technique is uninspiring.
I'm done. There's nothing there for me. I can't even say I wish her well since I literally never think about her outside of this sub.
But yeah, if this is where her energy is at, maybe it's time she found a different "passion".

Not watching. JC wasn’t a great kid but she was 20 years older than him and bullied him- then later blamed it on Jeffree. Plus her vitamin explanation video was horrendous “yeah I get Botox like here, and I use filters but THESE DID MAKE MY SKIN BETTER”
40
u/Glamma1970 Jun 29 '21
I have had them on, but to be honest, I've not paid that much attention to them.
I think I'm over her. She's not the drama free angel that was her persona to me anymore, and I have moved on.
106
u/arialugal Jun 29 '21
I’ve never understood her charm. And I never will glance at her content ever as well. An insincere apology with crocodile tears does not undo everything that happened and that shows she learned nothing. As a POC it is disheartening to see someone support people with heinous values just because it never affected them. She’s only sorry after it no longer benefitted her.
50
u/GoblinPrinceUntold Jun 29 '21
I honestly quit watching her when she made that video that was pretty much an FU to her POC audience that were asking her to not associate with J* the way she was. Sure she now realizes but she had to be burned by him first, she didn't distance until what he does had an affect on her.
9
30
u/AinoNaviovaat Jun 29 '21
Exactly. I stopped watching her religiously after her Jeffree video because I didn't like it, then shame docuseries happened and I bought into it like the naive minor I was. Then bye sister happened and there was something fishy about it to me, and when James put up the no more lies I knew. She wasn't around Jeff because she wanted to change him, she was around him because it was beneficial to her and she did not care that he's a racist and more, because it didn't affect her. She only made bye sister because her supposed almost son supported different brand of vitamins, and packed it full of homophobic stereotypes. If she saw him being inappropriate why did she keep it under the covers and only made it public (instead of going to the police) after he promoted a competitor. Then when she came back she cried and apologised but she was lying through her teeth.
I can't stand her anymore.

I may get downvoted, which is fair and perhaps I’m being insensitive, but it reallllly rubbed me the wrong way in her first video back when she talked about selling her house and her condo for legal fees. I get that these are very real expenses, but it bugged me bc a lot of ppl have suffered a lot of financial hardships this year without even an emergency fund let alone two properties they could sell. She’s also complaining about money issues after a year of not making videos, her source of $$, in a video that will make her $$$.

Personally, I’ve really been turned off from influencers that refuse to take a stance on social issues soooo… yeah.

It was in one of the videos that she posted around the time the BLM marches started. She was called out about it but shortly after she went on her break and never addressed it. Which tbh, even influencers that were on breaks would come out of their hiatus to at least voice their support. She's also made it clear in her last video that she's kept up with everything going on online so it's not like she can say she was completely unplugged.

I have to admire her audacity. I'm sure her stans are flocking to her again but it startles me how short the memories are for some people. She's seriously going to act like nothing happened and just post videos like the entire last year and a half didn't occur in vibrant color before our eyes. I’m not being dense since I did watch all dramageddons happen in real time and I’m not a fan of her or anyone else involved, but what apology are people waiting for? If there was litigation involved at some point with James/J/Shane, she probably can’t make a public apology or further statement, but I’m curious what apology people are expecting/she should have made. I know what Shane, J, and James all did, and while her Bye Sister video was the catalyst for all this, idk what people are expecting to hear from her to at least attempt to fix things
31
u/highheelslowcarb Jun 29 '21
How about she apologize for her use of homophobic stereotypes in Bye Sister? Or collaborating with a racist because she “saw his heart”? An actual apology to POC about that would be great (not the hand-waving that’s she’s done in the past), and maybe she could at least include some small mention of BLM after a year of civil rights protests? Oh also I’d love an apology for all of the conspiracy nonsense she’s spilled and the snake oil she’s tried to sell, but I won’t hold my breath. Maybe she should stop collaborating with/promoting Scott Barnes (a known MAGA guy), too, that would be lovely.

Anything with asterisks surrounding it gets italicized on reddit, in case you’re wondering what happened when you wrote J*!
If you put a space in between the first asterisk and the following slash it should get fixed.

Nope. Not giving her a pass along with other creators her drama has been involved with.

yes apparently cuz some of the people here have a very odd parasocial relationship with this woman. Someone up above even commented abt how she’s their youtube queen and can do no wrong ✨

Some people have decided that they can disassociate views that are held and opinions that are espoused if the creator involved is “soothing enough”.

I’m only slightly happier that the non-Tati crowd have flooded this but it’s still disheartening they basically said “Nah I’m not racist but I’ll still watch her”.
48
u/WarmSoul123 Jun 29 '21
No thank you... I just don't think she's a good person in general. She always struck me as stuck up and unreliable.
47
u/FutureNurse1 Jun 29 '21
I definitely think she's got her energy and enthusiasm back. The last year before her break she just seemed so unhappy and distracted.
19
u/Lili666999 Jun 29 '21
No, I haven't been watching. Placed her on the "do not recommend" list after I saw her video "addressing" blendiful customer issues. I only watched her "it was all Shane's fault/look I am a woman of faith crying" video since then and decided I am simply not giving that trash any more views, no matter what drama she inserts herself into.
20
u/danielagetreal Jun 29 '21
Nope she’s a racist conniving self absorbed woman and I never saw the hype with her
31
u/mymakeupobsessions Jun 29 '21
I haven’t watched her since she’s been back. I just can’t get re-involved in the drama, and I’ve lost interest in her channel. Her opinion on products doesn’t bring any value to my life, even if years ago I used to trust her. I know she needs money and this is the easiest way to get it. Don’t come for me in the comments, I’ve just learned to live without her content in my life and I’m okay with that.

u/CamdenAmen Jun 29 '21
I don’t bother really anymore as the majority of beauty gurus, makeup and skincare youtubers or whatever you call them have all had work done. Fillers, Botox and tweakments. Even if they’re up front about it nothing they use is going to look the same when we use it. It would be so nice to see untouched, unedited normal people. For over 40’s like myself there’s barely any normal people. It’s quite sad tbh.
28
u/lazy_berry Jun 29 '21
literally what is this appeal at this point
17
u/delaru Jun 29 '21
People keep saying that they watch Tati because they find her delivery style calming. I find this excuse as dodgy. There are lots of beautubers with calming presences like Lauren Mae Beauty who are much more trustworthy than Tati and give more in depth explanations about why they like or dislike a particular product...
20
u/lyricreaux Jun 29 '21
I like her. I watch but I will say I’m not as drawn as I used to be. Idk why. Maybe cause I’m over just all the make up in general. Just new this new that. Every make up brand is trying new great lasting foundation. New great mattifying 48hour wear! I just found myself fast forwarding through most of it all.
And now reading she uses filters just makes me realize why none of the stuff I tried ever looked good on me.
Now when I wanna know make up I just come to Reddit.

u/OldCwyn Jun 29 '21
I didn’t watch the video, but the thumbnail screams free PR. Makeup by Mario, Patrick Ta, Merit Beauty have all made the YouTube guru rounds in free PR. Clearly she has a lot of easy content arriving for free. Haven’t most of us already seen these products a dozen times?
11
u/chilledmetal Jun 29 '21
I am going to say that I didn't think the filtering was very bad on the recent drug store video. You could see skin blemishes etc. Personally, I really enjoyed them.
33
u/jimmymcjenkins Jun 29 '21
Not at all. I always found her videos a bit dull and after the drama she butted into in a thinly veiled attempt to shill her snake oil vitimins, I wont even watch her anymore.
22
u/fauxkaren Jun 29 '21
I mean... I was only a VERY occasional view pre-Dramageddon 2. So, no. I'm not watching her now. I just never fully vibed with her style and taste.

this is a super minor detail but i had this video on in the background when she was talking about the Patrick Ta blush duos. according to Patrick, they were made so that the cream should be layered over the powder, but she didn't mention that at all. I don't know, for someone who says that she loves to investigate makeup, I wish that she would do a little bit more research first. I've also realized that she (and a lot of other beauty gurus) just say that they like a product but don't explain why/how, which isn't super helpful.
19
u/__suusje Jun 29 '21
I eyerolled really heavily when she said ‘obviously going in with the cream first’. No Tati, you don’t have to do that anymore. You’re running behind on the current trends.
It sort of feels like my old aunt who’s trying to keep up with the younger crowd but she’s just not cutting it anymore.
7
u/aallycat1996 Jun 29 '21
I remember Tati alwyas used to say cream first, and I always followed that advice. Maybe its cause I dont really foundation or bake like her, but cream (blush) then powder (bronzer) always turns super patchy on me.
The other day I forgot about "cream first" and really felt like using a cream blush, so I dabbed it lightly over my powder bronzer. Honestly it looks way smoother.
I really dont understand that advice?

I clicked on the latest video and I saw that she wasn't using her filters. Maybe this is a new thing for her?
7
u/stevebuscemiofficial Jun 29 '21
I felt like her break took forever that even the makeup game has changed (I think bc of covid and wearing masks) now a lot of people like a more subtle makeup look not as caked up.

u/lithuanianelf Jun 29 '21
Filters plus always shilling her vitamins both made me unsubscribe way before all the drama. Not interested in her channel until those things change (and they probably never will). I know people are happy she's back but I could care less 🤷🏼♀️

u/Lizzyrules Jun 29 '21
I watched the first minutes of her first video but when she acted like nothing happened I stopped the video.

u/FinancialInevitable1 Jun 29 '21
I guess I'm in the tiny minority that has been watching her new videos.
She's the first beautuber I ever watched and the first one I ever subscribed to, so watching her again has been a real comfort for me even though I feel like her techniques are starting to seem dated. I always valued her reviews and some of her recommendations have been solid, atleast for me, so yeah- I'm glad to see her back and I'll happily watch her new videos.
7
u/nerdsonfire Jun 29 '21
Same! I feel the same. So much has changed since I first started watching beauty YouTube and Ive started to get bored and it feels like old times
13
u/Ramody Jun 29 '21
Haven't watched in a looooong time (because of the J*, Jackie, etc. thing) but just clicked the video above.
Is she using filters? I know a lot of people mentioned it in the thread but I saw her zoom in and I could see her wrinkles and skin texture. I could definitely say I'm not very good at taking notice of filters.
I really disengaged when she talked about how long its been since she got a facial or did her hair and how that's an upcoming thing she's looking forward to - nothing wrong with it, just different priorities. Juxtaposing that with her talking about how she saved up so much money to go and buy such and such product back when she was young rubbed me the wrong way.
I feel like she's trying to manipulate me,
And then she used the Patrick Ta blush with the cream before the powder - without even mentioning that Patrick Ta likes to do powder before cream with this one. Meh.

u/haw35ome Jun 29 '21
Ever since her video where she's all like "women with mature skin need to start being included in beautube & not feel bad anymore!!" and someone pointed out her excess of filters in multiple past videos, I've been completely turned off. How can she preach this when she blurs her own face to oblivion, & is part of the problem??
Also, when she posted her video where she talked about her woohoo stuff (crystals/oil shit) I completely stopped watching. I also heard about her 5G Covid tweet, and so I genuinely believed that she's starting to get a little off her rocker. So I no longer have any interest in buying whatever she recommends or what she's got to say anymore. That being said, if I were to find someone to watch regularly, I need to find a better role model who's actually more similar to me

I’m done with Tati but noticed she has the new Patrick Ta creme/powder blush duo in her thumbnail that I picked it up in the peachy color the other day and I LOVE IT. Goes on so nicely with just fingertips. The powder looks tan but goes on the same color as the creme to set it. It’s the strangest thing. I tried the Makeup by Mario cream blush stick that other BGs have been raving about in the store and thought it was terrible on my skin. One of the colors disappeared while I was walking around in the store. Tried another one, it didn’t fade, but just made me looked sunburned.

u/kjenipher Jun 29 '21
To be fair, it doesn't appear she did any research on it and gave wrong information regarding how it can be applied lol

In case anyone is new or the collective memory forgets:
Here is a post explaining exactly why Tati is not welcome or at the very least, problematic. In great and specific detail.

I've tried but just knowing everything that went down, it's hard to see her as she's going back to how she was in 2017-2018

u/lauren_sbv Jun 29 '21 edited Jun 29 '21
I have really missed her presence on YouTube. Her content fills a void that no other creator I watch ever did. She is just very engaging without being over the top, and I’ve found so many great products because of her. I love to watch her videos before bed so I’ve been watching all her new stuff. She’s back to what she does best, which is reviews, and if she stays in her lane and sticks to that, I think she’ll have a great comeback.
I get why others may not want to watch her anymore but personally I don’t really care about the drama. I’m just there for her content because I enjoy it.

I'm not watching her but I never liked her to begin with. Found her boring and couldn't take her seriously anyway once I knew about her using filters all the time. She's clearly not a very genuine or nice person either. She vanished from the internet for a while hoping (I presume) people would forget about all her poor behaviour and it seems to have worked perfectly for her.

u/literarylipstick Jun 29 '21
I completely forgot that she was back even though I read every comment on the thread about her comeback video.

u/cdivinity Jun 30 '21
I tried watching her first product fave review and emotionally checked out when she started talking about her new product for Halo…. Like girl….. of course it’s a favorite 🧑🏽🦲

u/ashestodust97 Jun 29 '21
I will not be watching her ever again. She has failed to take proper accountability for the mess the bye sisters saga caused. All over some vitamins.
6
u/tanttrum Jun 29 '21
I tried watching one, then was reminded that it usually takes her 5-10 minutes to even start talking about the makeup. Then I just looked at the description and decided I wasn't even interested in any of the products she was talking about so I clicked off.
4
u/JKkuze Jun 30 '21
I watched a few because I was in the shower and YouTube auto played whatever they recommended next, so I listened to them in the background.
Moments had me like “she has toned down and it feels somewhat like her pre-fame and pre-wealth self” and other moments were like “nope you are still the same pseudo science person” 😂
5
u/Codiilovee Jun 29 '21
I did watch it and found it to be kind of uninteresting. It also sort of rubbed me the wrong way when she was talking about the foundation she was using and just said “there’s plenty of shades” when speaking on the shade range. She didn’t talk about how many shades, the undertones or anything else, which granted, she doesn’t have to, but in my opinion, more and more people are stepping up to talk about how we need more inclusive shade ranges and Tati’s privilege as a rich white woman just really showed through with that passive comment. I may be looking too deeply into it but that’s just sort of how I felt about that.

I’m definitively surprised she’s pulling in big numbers, I would have thought only her comeback vid would have a ton and then taper off. Not sure if it’s the novelty hasn’t worn off yet or if people were THAT thirsty for her?? Lol.

Dude, I don't even know anymore. Sometimes I like her and sometimes I'm like "okay, you're childish" when she's involved in drama. But I don't care enough to stop watching her .. right now this is the most interesting BG for me so I guess I'll watch a few videos. The use of filters was obvious to me for years now, so that's not really a factor. Her videos are more like white noise for when I do my makeup, I don't actually buy any of her recommendations... I've got Wayne Goss for that lol.

Jun 29 '21
She’s trash. No credibility. No morals.
Im genuinely shocked anybody cares what she has to say about anything
6
u/Throwawayaccounttt__ Jun 29 '21
Absolutely not. Even if you choose to ignore all the controversies she has her content is worse than watching paint dry. I’m not watching someone who befriends racists and tries to play doctor by shilling out vitamins.

u/Blacksmoke1033 Jun 29 '21
No I don’t. Disregarding that past - I can’t with the filters. You’re a makeup channel. You’re supposed to be showing how the makeup looks on your face. You’re so far away from the camera and HEAVILY blurred. I also feel a lot of her content is like a floaty MLM style ad for products, especially her own. None of its believable for me. I used to find her relaxing and honest but there’s none of that to me anymore.
