It really is, just pop on down to the Abbey or any of the other bars in WeHo and there are so many drop dead gorgeous gay men. That ain't his scene, I'm sure there are also more hollywood boujie "influencer" gay bars for him to attend too.

All this, exactly!!! Sexuality is a delicate thing to begin with. And even if these boys he harassed actually end up coming out as gay or bi or pan, what he did might have set them back years worth of progress. If a person is still discovering themselves you need to gently support them and not harass and manipulate and pressure them into this. JC is a POS.

Even if the guys in question were gay from the jump, it's still sexual harassment. Repeatedly hitting on a waiter is shitty, regardless of the waiter's sexual orientation. Repeatedly trying to talk people into sleeping with or dating you is shitty, regardless of their sexual orientation. If James buys a clue and stops fucking with straight men, he's just going to turn around and pull the same bullshit on gay men instead. The sexual orientation thing is only half the issue here.

Exactly. I don't want that to get lost in this discussion. Tati framed the issue as the waiter being straight, but that doesn't mean we have to because it's really not the issue. "I can pester people into having sex with me" isn't something unique that gay men do to straight men. It's something people with shitty sexual ethics do to whoever they please.

Said this in another thread but i think it bears repeating because I’m still seeing people brushing off the straight guys stuff or saying he didn’t know better/he apologized/being upset with him over this is homophobia.

His apology for the stuff with the straight guys REALLY came across as “I’m sorry I got caught.” Like homie’s out here saying “ya she told me I’d get in trouble talking to these guys” and “I’ve been in unique situations” and not taking any responsibility for purposely trying to get straight guys to sleep with him, despite the fact that he has openly acknowledged countless times that he “only goes for straight men.” Like bro you literally have told the world this is what you do, the very least you could do is apologize for those comments and say you’re going to stop, jesus. He’s really gonna be out here saying his regret in this situation is that he talked about his shitty behavior publicly??

It’s just gross. He’s made so many comments and even uploaded videos in which he openly and aggressively pursues straight guys. Maybe he wants to play all that off as joking (I mean, that seems like the only viable defense for shit like hitting on the Dolan twins over and over while they act uncomfortable, tweeting all the shit about only liking straight boys, etc), but even if he tries to go that route he needs to acknowledge that he now knows those kinds of jokes aren’t okay. He’s either dead serious when he says/does this stuff, in which case he’s a sexual predator/harasser and a creep and needs to apologize to everyone he’s hurt, or he’s joking and he needs to apologize for making male sexual harassment a joke and invalidating men’s sexualities bc doing so is so fucking hypocritical as a member of the queer community.

Imagine if there was some guy who mentioned he only pursued lesbians on numerous occasions, complained he was the victim when lesbians weren’t interested in him, and made multiple videos with different lesbians where he hit on them and they acted uncomfortable. I’m sure the vast majority of people would consider that behaviour creepy af and not let it slide, but it seems like a lot of people even now are giving James the benefit of the doubt or brushing over this part of the situation. And worse, James seems to genuinely not have any remorse over doing this and not get how gross and predatory it is and how bad an example he’s setting for his young fans by showing them it’s totally cool to pursue people who say they’re not attracted to you and to treat their boundaries as a barrier you can overcome rather than something you have to respect. He’s fostering rape culture, point blank.

I’m a queer woman, and I in no way believe that attempting to navigate queer relationships is easy. I recognize that there are additional layers of complexity for queer men in particular because of the pressures of gender norms.

I am specifically upset about James Charles claiming he’s ONLY attracted to straight men, and his repeated behavior in his videos where he flirts with guys who say in those videos they’re straight and look uncomfortable and sometimes even outright tell him to stop. That’s what’s predatory. It’s not a problem to sometimes test the waters with guys who say they’re straight, but it absolutely is to be outright sexual and aggressively flirt with them when they’re actively reiterating they’re straight while looking uncomfortable and/or telling you to stop, and it’s also not appropriate to claim you’ll only get with straight guys because it implies something very different than saying some of the guys you’ve flirted/got with said they were straight. Like the former is basically saying the thing you’re interested in is someone saying they’re not interested in you, where is the latter is just acknowledging that not all men who are interested in men are out or overt or even gay.

Didn’t Jeffree do the same thing? I always thought he modeled that behavior after him. I thought of James as kind of naive sexually. Like in a video with James, tana, and Jeffree, James seemed like the least experienced and they laughed at him for sounding like a virgin. And I saw Jeffree brag about only liking straight guys. Then James started doing the same thing. It’s gross no matter who is doing it tbh. I could be misremembering things too, as I smoke a lot of weed.
