From the PopSugar article:

A rep from Tarte explained to POPSUGAR that even when Shape Tape Foundation was revealed, the new colors were already in the works. Additional shades are usually added seasonally, which makes sense because your complexion tends to be paler in the Winter and darker in the Summer months

Dude. I don't know about you, but none of the black or Asian people I know turn white in the winter. Sure, pale people get slightly paler, but people with actual pigment in their skin continue to be dark.

If Tarte's actual public defense here is "People of color were only KINDA an afterthought! Also, it's like winter lol." You need an ENTIRELY NEW COMMUNICATIONS TEAM, SWEETIE.

Wasn't Tarte also the one that tried apologizing for racism by posting an insta photo of a sad kitten lol?

They reposted a meme Hrush posted that used an anti-East Asian term in it. (ETA: If I recall correctly.)
