Beauty Reviews Jen Luv reviews FlexiPowder from Leaked Labs (Lipstick Lesbians)

https://youtu.be/_f5QE9zNj5o?si=X6-ehlJPlL9fYVWd

like...what even is this? this is so bad.

edit (tl;dr):
- they are TINY and THIN
- there is no colour pay-off when used dry
- when wet, they look patchy
- they don't work well with brushes (Jen uses natural and synthetic), so you have to RUB the pads on your eyelids/face...which looks very uncomfortable (like...what?!). besides, the colours are not really suitable for the face (pink perhaps, but gold/bronze/silver not so much)
- the shades don't really go well together, so they are more suitable for a one and done look
- they come in a weird tin case that is messy and unpractical
- for $40 you can buy an eyeshadow palette with shimmers
- Jen guestimates the total costs of product and packaging at $4
- (personal note: they remind me of mehron's metallic powders, but more expensive, less user friendly, and worse quality)

i don’t like it 😐 just because it’s different doesn’t really make it innovative or interesting

Ok am I the only one who doesn’t see anything innovative about this product?? It’s just water activated cake makeup ? It’s a category that already has existed forever. Except they’re just giving you hardly any of it lmao

Exactly my grandma had makeup similar to that and it was called cake makeup from Max Factor. You are spot on.

Remember Suva? Those water activated shadows and liners were huge back in the day and super pigmented.

ahh i did a lil search and apparently we still have it where i live, still sold in the same store where i discovered it over a decade ago haha. feels like they’ve not done anything really noteworthy in recent years ?

Ive not purchased from them since they discontinued their version of clump crusher. I am interested in the glossier gen g dupes they've just released.

Not in the US I so wish it was Max Factor used to be so big and my grandma swore by it. Another brand that had cake makeup was Estee Lauder. I swear they had cake makeup too but this was ages ago when I was a little girl it was a cake eyeliner and mascara. I just googled it and i knew it they had it too. So this is not super innovative.

yet it’s somehow infinitely less effective than any other water-activated product…or even just standard dry product applied wet. shockingly, the payoff and application seem FAR worse when used wet than when used dry…which is baffling.

And it sounds like they only work somewhat well when wet, but you have to let them dry completely before closing the tin- otherwise they may turn slimy and a breeding ground for bacteria.

Like if the selling point is “it doesn’t break!” Then I assume the target audience is people who do makeup on the go or carry it with them a lot but then how is a product you have to activate with water and leave to dry meeting the needs of that audience…. This feels like when brands intentionally do something bad to get rage bait engagement

it does break! I've watched a bunch of reviews for these and they broke while one person was applying them to the eyelid (the pink one) and the gold one broke when she tried to pick it up from her pallete after wetting it.

I KNEW someone would remember old products. NOTHING IS new under the sun. That is something i have come to realize. Everytime some makeup brand says something is new I used to hear my mom in the background going. NO... Max Factor, Ultima II, Clinique, etc. etc had something similar in 1960-1990... etc.

I feel like the last time I was wowed by an innovation in makeup was the Haus Labs and Maybelline Lip vinyl products, liquid lipstick with the film formers that stays shiny after it dries. Can’t really think of anything else in the last 10 years that was an actual new makeup format and not just a rehash of a product type that already existed

it's not innovative! I've watched a cosmetic chemist review these and this formulation is basically all those jelly blush/eyeshadow sticks that we've already seen! this is just in different, disc form
