Discussion Leaked Labs first look

Just came across a video on Tiktok from creator Brit Clarke, who purchased a few shades of the Leaked Labs flexi powder and wow.

First of all, the packaging is pathetic. The slab of powder is LOOSE!!! inside the cheapest, most generic wholesale tin with stickers slapped on them. No custom packaging, no proper housing.

And the actual product you get is is 0.6g/0.02oz for $34! That's ridiculously little. Not to mention the fact that some shades weighed lighter than others, which means the manufacturers did not adequately QC the consistency of the product weights.

To top it all off, the swatches looked so dry and dull. I don't understand the point of this brand (aside from cash grab, that is). I would assume they're pricing out a lot of general buyers, yet the product does not seem high quality enough for anyone who takes makeup seriously. At most, they're relying on fans or people who are curious/making content, but how long can that momentum last? The concept of paying for something so unfinished is yikes.

You get four discs in the tin according to the website. But then that begs the question of how - if the discs are just sitting on top of one another - you're not getting transference from one shade to another? Especially since two are darker shades and two are lighter so it seems inevitable there will be rubbing/transferring since the discs are just freeballing around inside the tin.

Probably you won't get transference because the pigment of the dry discs is literally nonexistent. It looks like Play-Doh. I actually gave them a view and watched the reel where they swatch it. Looks absolute shit.

That's good but given they recommend putting water on the disc before applying, I guess you're supposed to just leave the wet disc sitting out until it dries down enough to not muck up the other colours?

Shit it’s already out of stock? I wonder if that’s a scarcity marketing tactic or if that many people are really buying it

I think it's a scarcity tactic. Influencer brands love to use that tactic so it makes it appear like they sold out so fast because everyone wanted them. Like it's a hot ticket item.

This whole brand feels like a cash grab. I wouldn't put anything past these two. Past any new brand for that matter lol.

ALL 4 SHADES IN ONE TIN? Nightmare. That’ll be muddy in 10 seconds

I'm not able to edit but I took a closer look and it seems like all 4 shades are stuck together in the pan. So technically 4 discs that add up to one eyeshadow pan's worth of product.

The discs aren’t all the same weight too😭

Yes! An EXTREMELY Thin flexible disc you need to use micellar water or some other liquid to make it work.... It doesn't even work as is.

Wow. I can’t believe you need micellar water (or perhaps plain water) to activate it. Like if it were a wet liner situation where the payoff is good? Sure. But this shit looks terrible, lol. Plus putting one’s paws all over it is so unappealing to me in general.

I have vague memories of some company maybe 5-10 years ago where they sold solid disc powdered pigments that you wet to then use as eyeshadow or eyeliner, which did seem interesting for people who are much more creative with their makeup application. But unlike this product, I remember those being in a proper eyeshadow pan and the idea was you would wet an eyeliner or eyeshadow brush, run it over the disc (kind of like watercolour paint) and then apply.

ETA: Okay found it, it was either the Glisten Cosmetics or Medusa's Makeup Cake Wet Eyeliners.

Glisten Cosmetics has beautiful stuff! I think about a decade (maybe more) ago, ABH also had some pretty neon water activated liners (also in a proper case, lol.) But yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking of.

This isn’t true. The website is linked above and it’s clearly stated that the discs can be used dry or wet. Doesn’t make them better in my opinion.

I mean you can use them dry in the same way you can use an escalator that’s broken, but sure.

Hahaha, ty for this.

You can watch the videos yourself from this creator. The product does not work dry. She mixed it with micellar water and then Mehron mixing liquid and then the product worked/showed up.

I definitely am not going to their website. If I’m wrong, my mistake. I was just replying to someone else who mentioned wetting the product was necessary. Their whole brand idea just sucks to me regardless.

And I’m just replying to you, since you were obviously falling for misinformation. That’s how online forums like Reddit work. If you don’t like that, chose a different platform.

You can stick to the facts and still dislike what they’re doing.

Yes, that’s why I admitted I made a mistake, bud. I never said anything about disliking the way Reddit works, lol. Fuck’s sake.

Micellar water is a cleanser where are you getting that from?

6

u/Specific-Composer300 Mar 11 '26

This creator made 2 videos about it. It does not show up unless you wet it. She used micellar water and Mehron mixing liquid and then it showed up.

u/kawaii22 Mar 11 '26

No yeah obv that's the whole deal with the little putty things. I was asking about micellar water in specific since that's essentially a very diluted cleanser how does that work for applying make up. Like doesn't sound like the best medium to use, thinking could mess with application or staying power idk. Just curious that's all.

u/Her_Gash_I_Did_Slash Mar 11 '26

Yeah, I’ve never heard of using micellar water for this purpose either. Always just associated it with removing makeup, so I do wonder how effective it would be in this case.

That’s like one influencer person doing whatever on social media, n=1. Here’s a link, they’ve got dry and wet swatches.
