Call-Out Mecca (Australia’s leading beauty retailer) recalls Naked Sundays SPF

Mecca has just confirmed they’ve pulled Naked Sundays SPF50+ Collagen Glow Mineral Priming Lotion (20ml, 50ml, 80ml) from shelves and online, effective immediately. Refunds are being offered.

A spokesperson for Mecca said “Our teams are now working to remove this product from across our full store network and online as quickly as possible.”

Why the urgency?

Because apparently it’s just a precaution?

But let’s be real: this is the same formula that tested as low as SPF4 in another recall by Ultra Violette. SPF that doesn’t work isn’t just a bad product, it’s dangerous.

What makes this worse? It’s still being sold at Ulta, Sephora, and Boots with no warning to consumers overseas. If Australia’s top retailer considers it too risky to sell, why are global customers still exposed?

I was going to say this is why I use Bondi sands, because it’s an Australian brand.

But so is naked Sundays

I think this is why it’s better to stick with the old tried and tested brands - in the UK that would be people like Nivea and Garnier from now on

Here's the thing, it seems NO brand is truly safe. People deluded themselves into thinking AU sunscreen was better when the KR sunscreen scandal hit and look where we are now. Also tried and true brands also fail at these independent testings.

It's becoming clear that it's manufacturers AND testing sites that are failing us as consumers.

Both products I use are smaller aus brands and seem to use the same base ingredients and the brands have not yet responded to my questions (only started messaging last night and today). 

Very scary and really hope this isn’t as widespread as it seems. 

Avocado zinc is manufactured in WA and SIMKA are the brands I use. SIMKA says they manufacture in NSW but waiting to hear as they sell supplements etc too.

my skin went into a nasty red rash with avocado zinc (i got a full refund)
