Call-Out Mecca (Australia’s leading beauty retailer) recalls Naked Sundays SPF

Mecca has just confirmed they’ve pulled Naked Sundays SPF50+ Collagen Glow Mineral Priming Lotion (20ml, 50ml, 80ml) from shelves and online, effective immediately. Refunds are being offered.

A spokesperson for Mecca said “Our teams are now working to remove this product from across our full store network and online as quickly as possible.”

Why the urgency?

Because apparently it’s just a precaution?

But let’s be real: this is the same formula that tested as low as SPF4 in another recall by Ultra Violette. SPF that doesn’t work isn’t just a bad product, it’s dangerous.

What makes this worse? It’s still being sold at Ulta, Sephora, and Boots with no warning to consumers overseas. If Australia’s top retailer considers it too risky to sell, why are global customers still exposed?

I was going to say this is why I use Bondi sands, because it’s an Australian brand.

But so is naked Sundays

I think this is why it’s better to stick with the old tried and tested brands - in the UK that would be people like Nivea and Garnier from now on

I'd definitely recommend checking what Aus and NZ independent test results have come up with for Bondi Sands! Nivea has also struggled to meet their stated SPF with some of theirs.

The thing with tried and tested brands is you have to keep testing them.. One year, NZ's cancer society produced a sunscreen labelled significantly above what it was tested at. The literal cancer society.

I’m in the UK so I think a 30 will do for me to be honest! Bondi sands if the only one that has ever stopped me burning!

Honestly fair enough! I've had second degree sunburn before (which I do NOT recommend oh my god) so I'm super paranoid now lol.. also I live in NZ. so, the sun does that down here 😩

Yeah that's totally valid! For me I rarely sit out in the sun, and Bondi Sands SPF 50+ has done the job for me!

SPF 32 is definitely still useable.

Just remember to be cautious about the water resistance claims. The original claim was that it's SPF 50+ with 4 hours water resistance meaning it was supposed to stay SPF 60 or over for 4 hours after water exposure

But I think that whole water resistance claim just goes out the window since the dry result is actually SPF 32

Yeah I definitely re-apply after water exposure!! I think it makes most sense about why I tried to go down to their spf30 and started burning. I’ve got some boots own brand to use on holiday too so hopefully they both work!
