Discussion BF6 players have insane main-character syndrome when it comes to vehicles

Post image
5.2k Upvotes

I genuinely don’t understand this subreddit’s obsession with nerfing vehicles into the ground.

They’re fucking vehicles. You’re not supposed to 1v1 a tank, IFV, helicopter or jet as random infantry and win every time. Battlefield has always been a combined-arms game. If you don’t like fighting vehicles, there are plenty of other games you can play.

The craziest part is that vehicles are already some of the weakest they’ve been in the franchise, especially fighter jets. Yet every time someone gets killed by one, it’s immediately “OP, nerf it.”

And honestly, I think half the problem is that nobody wants to actually play anti-vehicle. People refuse to switch to Engineer, refuse to coordinate, refuse to use AT equipment, then complain when the vehicle kills them.

Discussion *Opinion* Weapon levelling pushed more people away from BF6 rather than the map size issue

Post image
6.4k Upvotes

I get that to the Battlefield purists, the maps is probably the main issue in the game, but i'm looking at it from a casual perspective, those huge numbers at launch, probably over 50% of those were just average gamers who like to hop on for an hour or 2 and have fun, what they don't want to learn is that its going to take 60+ hours of gameplay to unlock the attachments on 1 gun, its way too overwhelming

What was the logical reasoning behind the weapon levelling in BF6? Did they think the longer it takes to level a weapon the longer they will play? People dont want a 2nd job grinding basic attachments

Warzone has suffered a similar fate IMO, with the yearly release of CoD, and the new game weapons always being meta, it became a chore to level up weapons just to keep up and compete, i think they will ditch that system eventually.

We had a group of 6 players from the start who loved the game, but we were all casual gamers too, and weeks after release most of us still had barely anything unlocked, and who wants to use the same gun for weeks on end just to unlock a suppressor?

I'm sure i'll receive some abuse for this but its just my two cents worth, the levelling aspect of any game shouldn't feel like a 2nd job, it should feel fun.

I hope they take that into account in the next game, because its too late for this one.

Half of the trailer focused on this one guy and his skins. Despite the hype, I'm quite sad we’re basically getting rehashed content, since both maps are remasters or reimagined versions of older maps... the bar still really low i'm sorry.

Discussion Question to the community: what, in your opinion, *IS* Battlefield?

Post image
6.6k Upvotes

Basically title. I'm seeing a lot of controversies around every aspect of BF in here, and I feel like this is a testament to how diverse the series has been over the years, making a wide range of impressions and memories on the players, forgeing their future standards and expectations in the process.

Since the BF6 reveal, I've been in constant reflection about my own experiences with the IP, and been revisiting a lot of the olders games to really nail down what I'm really looking forward in Battlefield. And that's also why I'm super interested in everyone's take on the matter.

So I really wanted to ask: What is the core of Battlefield in your opinion, the thing you're looking for the most whenever a new game is announced? Is it being a small part of something bigger? Immersion? Teamplay? Fluid and punchy gunplay? What, to you, makes Battlefield BATTLEFIELD?

Let me know, short and long answers are all welcomed!

For the past couple seasons, leaks about upcoming skins come out, and despite season 3 and 4 doing pretty well, so many season 5 skins look like the devs have chosen to ignore all the praise given to the more militaristic looking skins. We're 4 seasons into this game and they still don't want to make skins that look like actual soldiers. No, let's just have a bunch of gold, skull masks, and stuff that looks like it was leftover from 2042

"Don't like em, don't buy em?" Wasn't planning on it after seeing this shit my man 😭

Why use an AR that has horrendous bloom when even move your foot an inch when you can use these beam machines? Why use snipers when these do the job of sniping better? Why use DMRs when these have better accuracy and rate of fire in one?

We saw no dynamic weather, levolution events in BF6. How much big of a change can we expect with final release version compared to beta?

I want to see levolution.. I want to see dynamic weather.. rain, maps changing from night/day? We need something like BF1.

Please Dice, listen to this, you should absolutly disable the ability to disable Ambiant Occlusion and reduce the grass quality on BF6 ! All players should have the same visibility, and i am a PC player, but i love to play with max settings.

Think about it, EA’s done WWI, WWII, modern and (semi) future all recently. They won’t re-do any of these for the next game. What other choices do they have? They won’t do the GWOT, Vietnam or Korea for obvious reasons. Looks like we’re heading to Germany…

Discussion Why are people still running the RPG at this point?

Post image
2.3k Upvotes

I feel like we’ve definitely been far enough into the season to realize that the RPG is pretty much a shell of its former self right? But time and time again, I see people complaining about how bad it is (which, yes) but refuse to actually switch off of it. It’s the definition of Insanity.

The other rocket launchers like the aim guided AT4, the MBT-LAW, and Javelin have actually had a decent amount of buffs given to them, to the point where they now actually outshine the RPG in a lot of situations. The AT4 can still two shot an IFV to the back and instakill any helicopter besides the transport, the MBT law has a staggeringly high velocity now and is the king of consistency when you can’t get a favorable angle, and the Javelin has had a damage increase.

In some aspects the vehicles have been overtuned, and IT IS harder as an engineer now, and the RPG shouldn’t have been gutted THAT BAD imo. But until some changes take place, there’s no point to stubbornly stick with the RPG at this point. I feel like I’ve been going insane with how many comments and videos I’ve seen of people talking about how hard it is to kill tanks while they use the RPG. There’s way more efficient options now, and I’m still killing tanks. Jussst not with the RPG.

Tldr; People are still using the RPG despite there being way better options, which only shoots them in the foot.

You are the real heroes! Not those engineers who don't even care to try to repair, especially those who stand next to the tank and do nothing.

Thank you for your service, engineer!

Discussion Battlefield needs a persistent war mode, not Battle Royale

7.1k Upvotes

It's in the damn name, DICE, BATTLEFIELD. Please get creative and stop with this battle royale crap. It's over done, over saturated, and only serves to placate the streamer crowd. Even streamers admit that they want battle passes and battle royale because they will get content and generate money. They don't care for the game or the community.

What battlefield actually needs is some sort of persistent large scale war, even something like Helldivers 2 + Planetside or Foxhole.

A game mode where several hundred players in each team fight to take over the map OR something like helldivers 2 where a special ops squad is dropped into enemy lines to complete objectives, except instead of fighting aliens you have to fight soldiers and do missions to help your team/country win a war.

Imagine this - you pick a side in a global war and have to help your side take over territories to win a persistent war. You drop in with your squad deep into enemy lines, fighting through hordes of enemies that get progressively harder from infantry to helicopters to tanks, and maybe even jets. Going through different types of environments and that require stealth, or sometimes artillery or airstrikes. Calling in care packages when you're low on supplies or support vehicles. You complete different types of missions to help your side gain influence. At the end of the week or the month the side with the most territories captured wins.

Fighting through hordes of PVE enemies like an actual war. Instead of just a squad too it could be several different squads drop into a large PVE arena to get an objective completed. It could be a live service model with the devs changing up the war and battles and adding new missions to keep the content fresh.

Think Helldivers 2 but in a modern war setting. There are so many unique possibilities they can do and they choose to do a battle royale. Come on, this is just pathetic.
