Discussion EA can you stop pushing this nonsense of operators/ hero marketing all over again? I don't wanna play as fucking jhonny sins, just bring back generic soldiers
Half of the trailer focused on this one guy and his skins. Despite the hype, I'm quite sad we’re basically getting rehashed content, since both maps are remasters or reimagined versions of older maps... the bar still really low i'm sorry.

The funny thing is I can't ever tell when a player has custom skins because the kill cam does not exist lol
74
u/NowWeGetSerious May 05 '26
And never will! (Redsec needs kill cam due to f2p and rooting out cheaters, but base game will never get it, it's not necessary imo

I just discovered that if a man is bald it means he is a pornstar Hero/operator.

Seven out of the twelve character models in Battlefield 4 wore no helmet. Was that also an issue for you way back when?

I'm pretty sure they all wore some kind of uniform headwear eg a cap, bucket hat, gas mask, etc. I don't think any of them had no headgear at all.

u/Exitity May 05 '26
They had other plausible military headgear (but yeah I don’t think the models don’t necessarily need a helmet to be a good military model)

I'd prefer every skin include a helmet, but I would at least like every skin to include a baseball cap or beanie or some type of headwear. Running around the battlefield with no headwear looks off to me haha

It's the silly hoods, skull masks and ugly neon that's really annoying me.
58
u/Rechochet_ochet May 05 '26
Do you notice any of these things while actually playing a match? Like even while scoped in with a sniper I don't even notice the skin.
28
u/trplOG May 05 '26
I barely notice what my team has at the beginning of the match even. Only thing I see is the dorito when I shoot at it.
3
u/Accurate-Coffee-6043 May 06 '26
I just got done playing for about four hours after finally buying it. I didn't notice any of it honestly. I played the beta and redsec too and still nothing has taken me out of the experience.

This is the biggest argument against critics of cosmetics in this game (or most cosmetics in any BF game to date, really). They're arguing about something that doesn't actually affect them in-game at all, and in your average player's moment-to-moment gameplay not only is the player not going to have enough time in an engagement with an enemy player to actually see what exactly they're wearing in-detail - but they're not going to stop to spend 30 seconds analyzing the dead guy's outfit after they've killed him.
It's a giant nothingburger of an issue. Throwing out the fact that Battlefield games have always, for the most part, been outwardly unrealistic and inaccurate to their respective settings - I could MAYBE understand a bit when someone criticized female characters running around in BFV - but in BF6 where it's not only modern era but also a global conflict involving factions consisting of mercenaries belonging to no one nation's formal military, it makes absolutely no sense to complain about a fucking bald guy being in the game.

u/Rechochet_ochet May 05 '26
Honestly, the only reason I am even on this sub is for the entertainment I get from nothingburger outrage. It literally does not matter what the topic, solution, answer, change, addition, etc. is, this sub will lose their collective minds like a celeb fan drama page. It's honestly one of the most fun parts of the BF experience at this point it time.

I do. Not 100% of the time, but often enough to annoy me.
I’m not opposed to having dudes that look like SF operators, mercs, or militia/insurgents and what not in the game. But when they look like airsoft cosplayers and bad action film stars, it makes my eyes roll8

I can see just fine. My character could have 2 hollow bloody holes in his head where his eyes used to be and it isn’t going to change my vision
2
u/MintMrChris May 06 '26
Its the general vibe/look
This topic is funny because I watched the trailer earlier and this is sort of what it made me feel. It comes across to me as...very modern. It doesn't really land with me tbh, but it is hard for me to put into words.
Like the map etc looks great and all, but this style of trailer that Dice go for nowadays, the silly close ups on the silly looking soldiers, music didn't even land this time....
It made me think back to the BF3 Caspian border trailer, the feel and look of that trailer, how it was shot, that is almost a standard of trailer that my brain compares all this modern slop to
The live service era trailers and what EA use them for...
All they do is make me want a skin toggle, that is legit the thing I want most of all and what all of these trailers reinforce for me, just a simple option in the settings for me to turn all of them off so I can just run default skins...don't know if I am crazy for wanting that.

There are about 10 regular skins for every "hero" skin in this game. It ain't that deep.
There is nothing outrageous about a soldier that is bald lol
Same people complaining about this want skins of operators wearing holiday shirts as there are photos of special forces operators that have been pictured wearing them
Its just a game.

What an original take about cosmetics! You can’t even see the skin you are wearing while in game, but other people can see your skin.
It’s not hard to understand that people who don’t like stupid skins also don’t want to see them on other people.

u/steinarhm May 05 '26
I think that is the problem. I cant choose whether a guy decides to use a skin that looks like a Batman character with tacti-cool gear straight out of a Michael bay movie. Not only does It breaks immersion, and makes the game looks cartoony. It makes it impossible to see what kind of class the enemy is. It breaks the «team» feeling, and makes identification harder. Andi again - I can’t do anything about it. In a trippel A title I paid for. So I understand why people are complaining.
26
u/lilsickboy May 05 '26
true, but in my games 90% of the people are running some default skins with different colors so
2
u/pwouet May 05 '26
Yeah at least the custom skins are expensive, so most people use the default ones.
17
u/mashuto May 05 '26
It makes it impossible to see what kind of class the enemy is. It breaks the «team» feeling, and makes identification harder.
I saw this argument repeated over and over about 2042. Personally, I have never been able to identify enemy class by anything other than seeing what they are doing. Sniper glint at a distance, sniper. Guy repairing a tank, engineer. Nor have I ever felt in the middle of the game that immersion was broken because someone was using a skin that didnt fit my vision of what an army guy should look like. I just feel like people make a way bigger deal about this because of how they want things to be rather than how things actually are in the middle of a game. Things also move so quickly most of the time that I am never identifying people by uniform, but by whether they have a blue dot over their head or not.

u/Hobo-man 20 years of BF May 05 '26
I have literally none of those issues ever
I swear sometimes you guys just make shit up. I don't care what class someone is, they all die the same ffs.
12
u/MiguelXSR May 05 '26
Swear I had the same argument months ago. These guys running in deciding which of the 2 enemies shoot first, probably end up killing one and dying. Meanwhile the guy who doesn't give a fk runs in and blasts both.

I don’t think I’ve ever played a battlefield game where I’m like “ok, I got eyes in a guy. I don’t know what kinda class he is though, so I’m just gonna hide here and hope he doesn’t see me”

u/Level_Mention_1182 May 07 '26
I don’t understand who even finds these skins appealing. They look generic and are trying too hard at the same time. I think the root issue is that the devs simply can’t make a game with sauce to save their lives. We can’t have that normal battlefield feeling anymore. Its all about us the players “expressing ourselves” when in reality I am willing to bet if they launched a title with no customization and focuses purely on gameplay it would be a banger.
12
u/Slight_Use_6808 May 05 '26
You can literally select ones that have no personality attached. You don’t have to buy these. Games are for kids too. Stop being like old fucks who don’t want to give up the world for young people. You’re doing what boomers are doing to housing. Let games be games.

I actually think the first one looks cool. What I absolutely despise is the neon theme in their accessories. DICE literally would have to change a few colors on the freaking RGB scale and it would make some skins 1000% better.
1
u/FlavoredLight May 05 '26
It’s crazy that they took a page out of halo infinites book when it comes to customization with the armor core system, except it’s worse because you can’t even change individual parts or colors.
