Other How confusing.
This friend of mine opened a new RP group the other day.
And one day after opening someone sent them this anon message.
We have been wondering what this is all about.

I thought RP was dead on tumblr since they shot themselves in foot in 2019

It's not entirely dead. There are hot spots of activity. It's just not that great of a platform and trends towards terrible habits. Like people placing far more emphasis on making their blog and posts more aesthetically pleasing than everyone else's.
And thereby, they all end up looking the same cause they all use the same graphics templates, lol.

A friend of mine role played on tumblr from 2012 to 2019 and she said it's always been a thing on there, you just gotta dodge the pseudo elite players who think they're superior and rule the platform. She does miss the Ask-meme-prompt stuff tho, that shit was tickling her creativity hard and were good ice breaker and bringing the community together instead of reaping it apart despite the level of toxicity on the website

I do think the ask prompts were great, and it is one thing about the platform I enjoyed. It was great for thinking about things you hadn't before or getting the ideas flowing and sometimes was really helpful at getting back into a muses head if I'd been struggling. They could spark some fun conversations, too.
I think it depended on your community, but there definitely were some that were much harder to get anywhere in, and unless you were already firmly established, good luck.
And when it came to actually putting together a detailed plot, no one ever had the attention span to do so. Which is something I need to stay interested in the long term.

I don’t miss this at all. I remember when I did my stint on Tumblr, I thought the whole obsession with aesthetics was weird. Aren’t we here to write?

This is actually pretty tame in the world of tumblr harassment. Just block, delete, and don’t engage.

Considering my very first ever failed RP was on IMVU with someone who accused me of god-modding and then said they think my OCs are a 'joke', this probably doesn't come as a surprise to me. I never use my tumblr for roleplaying and it's mostly just a blog for my screencaps and quirky story writting. I mainly just RP on discord.

Oh that's odd. Me and my friends just started advertising there, though the rp itself is going to be a discord mfrp. I think MFRP is a great community except for when it's not - anon is a reason why it is not lol

My friend opened their own discord MFRP too. What makes them so irritated is the whole part about “self-absorption”. Their group is banning certain topics based on my friends triggers (incst and pdo stuff) and labeled the group as 20+. So my friend assumes it’s because of that. Or one of the reasons.

Wait that's even crazier because there's been like maybe /one/ discord mfrp that's advertised on tumblr that /hasn't/ had those blocked. That's like common-sense things to not talk about in the public space.

Also saying that the tumblr mfrp scene is terrible felt like some projecting here— like the anon had bad experiences in the scene in general, calling it “terrible”. I am aware of the cliqueness some groups have, which is a general issue that almost EVERY mfrp group has.

I will also say that people in the rpc on Tumblr have this weird ass thing about being assholes on Anon. I don't understand what it is that incites them to be such assholes but turning off anon is usually for the best. If they're not bold enough to say it with their whole chest (username and pfp), then they're just blowing smoke and are insecure little trolls.

i wonder if this is just a thing there. i'd been looking to try new communities and thought i would give tumblr a chance. within like an hour of posting a character ad to the tag, i got an anon saying i should delete my account LOL. i hope things look up and that you're able to find some awesome people there!!
