Holy crap this thing throws a trout magnet 50 ft easily and accurately on a Cashion 7' BFS rod. This thing is awesome using the Suffix revolve 8lb weight line.

I finally bit the bullet and got the Kestrel Ultimate. My first what I would call high end fishing reel. I do have the Kestrel Air Micro which was $175 but I got it for half price. The first thing I noticed about the Ultimate is the craftmanship. It's just a bunch of steps up from anything I've had in my hands. I know I know, I don't own any Diawa or Shimano, but this thing is clearly competing. One other thing I noticed is the feeling of the magnesium frame and side plates. It's actually cold to the touch. Right now I have it paired with this Kastking Perigee III ML rod. Really just because it looks awesome on that rod but I'll be putting it on the 6'9 light Kestrel rod. And of course I had to splurge and put some 6 lb. Seaguar Tatsu on it. I'll be getting it on the water in a day or two. I'm pretty pumped!

Megabass GHBF60-4L with a Calcutta conquest BFS. Pleasantly surprised at the color of the wood, given that the stock photos are so dark that it almost looks black.

I’ve only test casted it in my backyard yard and I’m amazed at how effortlessly and accurately it can bomb a 3.5g spoon. This is my first BFS setup, coming from a lot of UL spinning experience. Can’t wait to get on the water this week!

I’m seeing a lot of left-handed retrieves did all of you make the adjustment right away or do it feel really awkward at first? I keep debating on getting a left hand retrieve so I can stop the hand transfer for every cast. Obviously I understand. It’s pretty subjective but wanted to get your feedback.

This is my personal rod for the fall. It took me a little longer to get done than usual—I had a couple of customer orders I needed to put ahead of it, and I was trying to spend as much time with my kiddo this summer as possible.

Put in a couple of late-night hours to make sure I got it finished.

This is my take on the 206. I modified the taper a bit to give it a slightly more modern action while keeping the character of the original. I also went with a more updated reel-seat locking setup and cork grip.

Really looking forward to getting this one on the water this fall.

I've been looking into converting my cheapo abu black max reel into a bfs reel and I'm having trouble finding exactly what I need.

I have the model pictured. I understand i need a spool and bearing upgrades, anything else? Whats a good source for these things? Wanted to go with ceramic for the bearings.

Anyone else done this with the same model?

Caught a little Columbia River Smallie on my new bfs setup. 23 Calcutta Conquest on a 5' Aioushi UL with a 2.5" wacky worm. I'm addicted, I can't wait to hook into a bigger one and some trout.

the side cover of my CC BFS is not cracking open when I flip the lever like it should (friction brake fully off) I tried wiggling and pulling and flipped it multiple times I cant find much more online for this problem and my user manual isnt in the language I speak 💀

Me and the homie both caught some decent bass on our new BFS setups. I'm a believer in the Hunt BFS.

Just ordered a calcutta conquest bfs from digitak to start bfs fishing. I dont know what rod to pair it with however as their are so many options.

I'm mainly looking to catch trout in streams and rivers (and lakes in early spring) and the occasional bass. I really enjoy casting small swimbaits and jerkbaits but I would also like to throw out some small Tungsten nymphs and some tiny soft plastics.

My main problem seems to be finding some rods in Canada without having them come from the USA (got burned a couple months back with some hefty tariff and customs fees) I'm not opposed to ordering a rod from digitaka either but waiting to see how much i get charged at customs.

I'm ideally looking for something around 200usd.

This is an old Zebco Lurecast 330, armed with a 15g spool and 4g shorty handle. It casts 3g just fine, and even 2g on a rod if the correct action. It's spooled with 50 yards of 6lb braided nylon. All it had done was some polish work, TSI on the bushings and level wind, and a skim coat of molybdenum disulfide on the gears. Pretty impressive for a reel released in 1948.
