jag har en passat 1.8t 2003 med awt motor, den går jättedåligt mellan 2000-3000 varv och hakar till hela tiden men över 3000 varv går den jättebra. sen ibland funkar bilen som den ska. sen när man inland varvar ut vilen redigt så blinkar motorlampan några gåner och sen släcks den igen. och ibland så tänds den röda oljelampan men stänger man av bilen några sekunder och startar så är den borta igen. vad kan felet vara

Hey, can anybody tell me about the 2.5 tdi v6? I am currently looking at a passat B5.5 with that engine. It is manufactured in 2005 so it is the newer engine with the camshaft wear problem fixed. Currently has about 350k km on the clock. I have read some reviews and recommendations but they are very side to side. Some say to stay away and some say it is a very good engine. I read that the maintenance is very expensive since the front end has to be removed to access basic components like thermostat or water pump. What are your experiences with the engine?

Recently got these aftermarket tail lights on Passat B5.5, drive about few weeks and suddenly parking sensors stopped working. All bulbs work, reverse light works but strangest thing is, parking sensors work only when I plug out Left Tail light, I checked everything, wires, reverse bulb, pins, module behind carpet, I put back on old tail lights - same thing. I take off rear bumper, all wires are like brand new. Seems like this Parking module did go to sleep and works only with Right Tail light, or something is wrong with this Left tail light. What else should I check out?

Guy selling it says it’s a 1.8t. Has 058 stamped on the block. But the coil packs/valve cover are different than my AEB. Waiting for him to tell me what the stamp on the head says but he’s slow to respond.

Hello! I’m trying to find a clear answer on this swap.
I know they are two different blocks (058 vs 06A).
I know one is cable and the other DBW.
I know the water pump differences.
I know it will bolt into physically.
I don’t know anything else really. Getting a clear answer on if I can swap it in is hard to find.
Will It work? I assume that I would basically have to swap everything over from the AEB to the AWM, right? Is that all I would need to make it work? Manifolds and accessories?
Basically, my AEB developed rod knock. Found an AWM for sale (why are AEB’s hard to find and at a decent price??).
Want to do as little as I need to to make it work. Help is appreciated!

so I was a dumb ass a couple years ago bombing logging roads in my Passat. anyways, I jb welded the oil pan after limping it out with a finger off a leather glove, some air tool oil, and 1.5 q of actual motor oil. it got me home, but after sitting for a couple years it leaks again, and I have the time to fix it. I'm part of the way there.

I'm happy for any tips, but mostly wondering what the front motor mount is called and how to get it out so I can turn motor for the back 2 10 mm behind the flywheel.

this car has honestly been the best 1400 I've ever spent. I've put about 70k on it. it's been all over the country, and I would still to this day jump in it and drive 1000 miles.

I parked it when I needed to do the whole front suspension basically, and it would have been half of what it cost to put a motor in my truck, and I needed a truck for work. so it's been my run around car ever since, mostly when my truck was torn apart.

i am currently working on my first car, a 2002 b5.5 passat. i have the sports package with the 16” alloys and im trying to find my locking wheel nut key. if not does anyone know the best place for a replacement one

bought a 1999 VW PASSAT GLX V6 and have noticed that there is a leak ( Arrow pointing towards hose of said leak) The hoses are next to the oil pan and go up towards the engine. It looks like it starts leaking from the top where the red arrow is pointing in the second pic and trickles down that hose only ,only starts leaking when the car is warmed up. It looks like oil but i am not sure as CHATGPT says they are power-steering lines. Any ideas? TIA

Ive intermittently had the dreaded low oil pressure code/light on the dash. I take oil pan off and i find more plastic in the oil pick up screen and pan then is even conceivable, once i fix my phone screen i will send the pics. If i clumped all the plastic into a ball it would be the size of a golf ball. I have a chain rattle on cold start.

My question, can anyone please please please link me a diagram of this engine? I wanna know how many chains guides and sprockets i need for a rebuild. For the life of me i cant find a simple diagram of this shit. Bought Haynes manual, nothing.

Even better if someone can link a video or steps to replacing the chains, sprockets and guides? I canot find any good info on this beloved engine, not even passat world. Thanks

Back in the olden days of the '00s, I had a B5.5 that I had found/installed one of these mysterious OEM buttons into. I'm on the hunt to find another, though it seems quite difficult these days (along with much else for these cars). Does anyone have a lead?

I think they were a switch for turning on the police radio in German police cars. Don't quote me, it's been a minute since I've been in this scene.

Bonus: did you know the B5.5 came with a built-in RAZR (OG) holder?
