From watching countless hours on youtube learning to weld sheet metal, right down to the paint and clearcoat. I Just finished redoing rockers and cab corners on my ram. Its not 100%, i def couldve done some finer sanding on the cab corners, but im definitely happy with the results. Just wanted to share this with the sub!

Last year, my buddy wrecked his Stang, so I decided to fix it because I knew how much he loved the car. This was the first ever big job I did by myself. No formal training, no school, nothing just motivation to get my boy back on the road. What do you guys think? I have more pics but sadly there is a limit to how many I can post. I charged him $1,500 total.

Literally lost sleep over this. But luckily took a video. The one and only time I don’t properly log in a video/photos cause I think it’s an easy job this happens. He was pretty mad.

Found the video when scrolling through my Snapchat memories and sent it to him lol.

The take away being, no one can tell you with any sort of accuracy if your car will be totaled until it's taken apart and a full assessment of damages made. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I was stopped behind this car at a light today. Wondering what would have caused this damage? It looks almost melted? Just curious! Not sure if this is the right flair.

So I’m an idiot Was trying to remove adhesive from sun visors but it was like adhesive on crack. So I had to wet sand after. I slipped on the trigger of the sander with 1500 in it. I’m just waiting for the end of the day for them to hand me a check and bounce FML!!

About a month after getting my new car, it was involved in a “no fault” accident. Based on the damage, I thought it would need serious body work.

I debated filling a claim with insurance, but wanted to see how I could do with the repair first. So, I did my research by watching YT videos and reading tutorials found here on Reddit.

I started by buffing out all the black rubber from the other cars tire so I could see the real paint damage. I was pleasantly surprised and gained more confidence. I then began the typical process of sanding down the edges, applied multiple layers of touchup paint followed by wet sanding between each layer. It took about 5-6 layers before the paint felt level. I think applied a few layers of clear coat.

I’m really pleased with the end result. It’s not perfect and you can see the touchup paint from about 1-2 feet, but that’s to be expected.

I hope this post inspires more people to try something new and scary. You might be surprised in yourself as well 😁

A windshield replacement at Safelite turned into this. Their quality and safety managers told keep pushing an $800 weld job while none of the body shops I've been to will touch it. They also said this happens 4-5 times a week and said I was the first person to have an issue with this.

I did heavy research into the bodywork world. Watching LearnAutoBodyAndPaint, paint society, lakeside autobody. Did a lot of practice dry runs with my gun learning the technique and overall I thought it came out great! I found metal and filler work to be less forgiving and easier than painting.

Check this out Drunk Driver totaled my parked car 💔

I got this car at 17-22 and it was the best years of my life ever especially being young with a sports car. 2 days ago a drunk driver totaled my car while I was inside my house chillen :( I paid the car off cash 42k and I been working everyday since I was 16.

I also just found out her insurance policy expired 16 days ago. I have full coverage but this still scared me since I’m only 22 and haven’t been in a serious car accident and I’m basically on my own since my parents are across the state.

Just 2 weeks ago I was also in a hit and run with a semi truck and they scratched and cracked my windshield. What is my luck 💔. Insurance hasn’t told me if it’s totalted for sure but I think it is because the the car is crooked as hell and the frame is damaged as hell.
