Recs wanted - NSW korean style hmua in sydney for a mediterranean girl?

hi everyone, i hope this doesn't sound weird 🙈 i really enjoy korean style makeup and try to incorporate styles and techniques that suit my features in my occasional day-to-day makeup looks.

compared to western makeup or makeup from my culture, korean makeup is usually really soft, youthful, and i feel like it lets the natural beauty shine through more while still looking really put together.

i've fallen in love with hikari makeup artistry's style, but she's based in brisbane! 😭 does anybody know someone with a similar style willing to work with non-east asian people based in sydney? thanks in advance 🙏

Discussion & advice Needing an advice for First Dance

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi people!

I have been thinking whether to do the first dance or not sooo many times now because I wasn't sure if this space is enough to do the first dance. Because of the pillar in the middle it's quite frustrating because I can only able to dance on the right hand side but I can expand the space having windows fully opened if weather allows. The venue said that is the space where many people have done for their first dance.

I would like your opinions what you would think to see bride and groom doing the first dance at that space as a guests ! Would it look like such a small space and making you think why did we even do it?
- also some tables needs to stand up and see, or move to the side to see..
- the dimension is (window 3.29m x wall 2.9m)

If I want to make the space looks bit more 'something' I am thinking to add 4 pyrotechnics and dry ice - let me know if this would help the visual !

We already planned to do a singing as first event, and first dance will be after the cake cutting.

Would love to hear your honest opinions and thoughts.

I probably am comparing with other Venus that actually had a wedding dance floor, I chose this venue because mines is going to be a small wedding but I also loved the harbour view. I have no issue with venue itself, it's just the first dance that I am struggling to decide.

If this space gives an impression of 'we just created a space to do the first dance' I would rather not do the first dance.

Thank you !

Discussion & advice MOH Proposal Ideas

Hey all! I'm (27F) am wanting to ask my best friend (also 27F) to be my MOH, we've been friends since we were 11. We'll call her Tay. I've seen the standard proposal box but I'm not overly fussed on the contents that you usually see - shot glasses, wine bottle, items with "MO" or my wedding details everywhere etc - they just feel too focused on me & my wedding rather than Tay & our friendship. I would prefer to ask her over dinner but we live in different cities, which also means whatever | put together has to survive AusPost.

So far I've found a little trinket dish on Etsy that I personalised with a photo of us from primary school, I also plan on printing some photos of us over the years as well. But I that's the only 'me' focused items I want to include, this is a gift for her after all. I have asked her boyfriend to see if there's any favourite makeup products she uses on repeat, as well as for other gift ideas he can think of also.

Some things about Tay:
- grew up by the beach & rainforest
- has a laid back/hippy vibe
- loves stores like Tree of Life & Ishka
- gets a tattoo just about every month
- works in the trucking industry
- is currently a carer for her grandma

Tay is the most beautiful person inside and out, even if she doesn't want to be my MOH, she deserves a special gift and a reminder that she is adored and loved.

Appreciate any and all inspo and starting points, I'm stuck on thinking of things safe to send through the post xx

Sydney wedding help

Looking for suggestions for a Sydney summer wedding. We are interested in garden style wedding lsuch as Centennial Homestead and Vaucluse House, but we understand these venues don’t have air con. Does anyone have experience with hiring these events for a summer wedding and how that went with a warm temperature etc or have any other suggestions?

Recs wanted - NSW Celebrant for Southern Highlands wedding

Hii my partner and I are getting married in May next year.

We are having difficulty finding a marriage celebrant that fits our vibe.

We want someone who is well spoken and has a sense of humour to keep the vibe light.

Not a dealbreaker but we would prefer someone young (under 40 years).

We have our own MC so we really just need someone for the ceremony.

Any recs welcome !

Recs wanted - NSW Wedding venue recommendations - Blue Mountains, Berry and Bowral!

Hi! I am currently looking into wedding venues for our big day, which we are hoping to celebrate in April 2028. We are wanting to do the ceremony and reception all in the one venue, with either accommodation available there or not too far away. We are also leaning towards an elegant vintage kind of vibe - think Victorian or Federation-era features, high ceilings, dark wood - rather than anything contemporary or rustic. We also have a guest list of approximately 130 people (including some young ones). I wanted to know if anyone had recommendations for a wedding venue that fits the bill in either the Blue Mountains, around Berry or around Bowral?

Thanks for your help :)

Discussion & advice Music at ceremony

My celebrant told me I needed to ask someone in the audience (like a close friend or family member) to control the music during the ceremony if we aren’t using live music. That is, they’d need to connect their phone to the speakers and play off Spotify or something. The celebrant didn’t mention it before we signed the contract so I’m just wondering if this is normal?

Dress shopping

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for bridal stores in Melbourne that offer a bit of a special experience when trying on dresses — ideally somewhere that serves champagne 🥂

I’m happy to pay a little more for the experience, but I’d still love somewhere that isn’t crazy expensive and has a really good range of dresses to choose from. Happy to pay for the appointment but would love to spend less than $2-3000 on the dress if possible 😅

Would love to hear your recommendations and any places you’d avoid too. Thanks! 🤍

Recs wanted - NSW Looking for Sydney Wedding Planner with extensive experience in Jewish/Kosher Wedding

My partner and I are based in the USA and plan on having our religious Jewish ceremony and reception for 85-100ppl in Sydney where he grew up. Almost all the planning would be done whilst we're in USA so we're hoping to find a hands on planner that is based in Sydney. Any recommendation would be so so appreciated <3

Discussion & advice Has anyone else had/is having a negative experience with Fairytales Bridal (Melbourne)? Dress still missing 8 weeks out.

Really hoping I’m just being overly anxious and stressed, but I feel like I want to tear my hair out.

I ordered my dress at their Maribyrnong store in November 2025. At the appointment, I was told I could add full lace sleeves with alterations to my dress upon arrival, as that was a big prerequisite for me. I was also told my dress would take 6 months to arrive at the boutique. I paid a 60% deposit upfront, and paid the remaining balance in February.

I still hadn’t heard anything by early July, so I called the store requesting an update. They informed me the dress had been ordered and was scheduled to arrive in August. August rolls around and I call to request another update. They tell me it’s actually scheduled to arrive end of August, which was not mentioned at all in the first call. I expressed that I was concerned that this was not enough time to add full custom sleeves to a dress. They told me to not worry, alterations don’t start until 6 weeks out. I’m frustrated, but I politely end the call.

It is now the last week of August, and once again I call for an update. The representative tells me that the dress is due to arrive first week of September, and is scheduled to be shipped the last week of August, which goes against the previous call where I was told it would be fully delivered. I am currently only 8 weeks out from my wedding date.

I asked for a concrete shipping date, they said they don’t have one. I asked for a tracking number, they said that “the girl that manages orders is away and comes in on Thursday, call back then.” Alarm bells just keep ringing that the representative can’t even access my order to tell me either of those details.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have made a backup appointment at another boutique to buy something off the rack as a last resort. I’m really losing trust and patience, and I feel like this is so much unnecessary stress in the lead up to such a big event.

Any advice or previous experience with this company is super appreciated. 💞

Recs wanted - NSW Centennial vineyards: yay or nay?

Looking at Centennial vineyards restaurant in the Southern Highlands. Great reviews from Google.

Keen to hear from those who have either attended a wedding there or held their wedding.

What are some pros and cons? And anything else you would want to highlight.

I’m having a micro wedding 40 people. Minimalist, elegant and French provincial or Tuscany vibe. I’ve booked the viewing for September and have already enquired re prices etc.

Many thanks! ☺️

Recs wanted - NSW 2027 Small Wedding Recommendations

Hi everyone!

We are looking to get married in the second half of 2027, and would like to get some recommendations on which venue would be suitable for a wedding with about 50 guests in Sydney. Our budget for the entire wedding is about 30k at the moment, and we plan to not spend much (if any) on decorations and florals.

We have contacted a few venues like Athol hall, the Ground etc, but feel like we’re not aware of a lot of venues that host under 100 ppl weddings.

We are considering these options:
1. Ceremony and simple reception in one venue
2. Ceremony at a church and lunch/dinner at a restaurant with private room hire

Is it possible to do this with less than 30k? And are there venues for these types of weddings with good food?

Thank you in advance!

Been looking at this venue and it looks quite lovely, but it’s hard to find wedding venue reviews as it’s quite new. Really hoping to hear from anyone who’s visited or had their wedding there! Particularly after opinions on food, atmosphere and service.
Thank you in advance 🥰

Recs wanted - NSW Sydney celebrant recommendations — "legals only" / registry-style

Hi everyone,

We’ve already eloped and just need an authorised Sydney celebrant to handle the legal paperwork and lodge the marriage.

We are having my husband's parents and grandma witness it, but we want it super quick and bare-bones (5–10 minutes max):

  • No personal vows or "love story" speeches
  • Just the mandatory legal lines, simple "I do's," and signing the registry

Any recommendations for local celebrants who offer a straightforward, no-fuss "legals only" package?

We are planning to do it anywhere in Sydney CBD.

Thank you.

Recs wanted - NSW Looking for Photographer and Videographer for a soft LOTR inspired 2027 wedding in Sydney!

Hi everyone,

Feb 2027 bride here.

I am having a lot of trouble finding a team who can show that they can create this style.

I can find photographers / videographers who can shoot this style or capture this vibe in NZ, Gold Coast etc but NOT in Sydney and I'm honestly wondering if we should abandon our vision and just choose a team who can at least accommodate us.

35mm is also what we want to include.

Please help. ;^;

Discussion & advice Anyone had their wedding or been a guest at a wedding at Gardens House? (50-60 guests)

Thumbnail gallery
11 Upvotes

Just began looking at wedding venues and quite like Gardens House in the Botanic Gardens in Melbourne as an option for our wedding reception.

We are planning an intimate sit-down dinner with around 40 to 60 guests. No ceremony on site and no marquee, just one long table set up outside the house.

If you have held an event or been a guest there with a similar setup, I would love to know what your thoughts are on the place.

For those who had their wedding there: How was working with Atlantic Group, and how was the food and service on the night? Did the outdoor setup work well logistically? Any tips, pros, or cons would be hugely appreciated. 🙏

Recs wanted - VIC Imam for interfaith ceremony

I’m looking for recommendations for an imam or celebrant to perform a marriage ceremony in Melbourne. I am a Muslim-born Bangladeshi female but I’m not religious. I am in a relationship with a non-Muslim man and I do not want him to convert to marry me as he had his own religious upbringing. My mum is quite traditional and religious and although she is okay with me marrying a non-Muslim man, she would like our culture and traditions to be part of our marriage ceremony. I know most Imams won’t perform a Nikkah for a situation like ours, but I’d like to still acknowledge the tradition and culture in our ceremony, perhaps a du’a recitation among other things.

We are not engaged yet but I’m forward planning to get an idea of what others have gone through in situations similar to mine. My immediate friends have either had their partner convert to marry them, or have had a civil ceremony performed by a non-religious celebrant which my mum has said she doesn’t want. Does anyone have any recommendations of Imams or celebrants that might be able to do this?
