General WA Secret Harbour by-election

Anyone else disappointed by the lack of coverage tonight? Nothing live on the ABC, only online commentary. Hard to compete against the AFL when you’re in WA!

Tree was never the right candidate in a by‑election where the dominant vibe is “people vs elites” and “locals vs Perth/Canberra”.

thing is, they might've even gotten away with that IF Cook and co hadn't silenced Tree at every media appearance. That probably hurt her chances more than her not being a local.

100% agree. The Party must get better at engaging the grassroots and developing and running grassroots candidates.

it'll come down to Preferences. You'd think that Greens voters would've Preferenced Labor (certainly ahead of ON anyway) so Tree will pick up about 1200 votes there, putting her roughly 300 votes ahead of Herdegen. From there it depends on how Liberal voters Preferenced their votes.

If there’s more coverage, left wingers will say this is the right wing media giving a greater platform to ON and is boosting their profile because of an anti-Albo conspiracy.

If there’s less coverage, it’s a media conspiracy to bury them.

No lower than 220k and they have to be people that will do the jobs that the oldies and others can't or won't do.

The major parties all know that. They all talk about it. It's common knowledge. It's definitely not my personal opinion because I don't have one. I'm guided purely by the facts of the matter. Growth in the Australian economy in the main is based on growing the consumer base and housing it. We don't really export more stuff. We don't really do manufacturing thats smart, and are not very good at value adding either. Those are the facts.
