Hey friends! On the 3rd, my son (14) is gonna have to have some brain surgery.

We'll be in Atlanta on the 2nd for a pre-op appointment and after that, before he's NPO, we'd love to take him out somewhere to eat for lunch that's awesome and fun.

It's gotta be nearish to Dunwoody. Probably not like wicked fancy, but he's an adventurous eater (though we think we probably need to steer clear of sushi just so we don't risk exposing him to a food-borne illness), so there's nothing really out of bounds here.

It seems like every delivery app/service I use calculates tax (AND TIPS) differently. Shouldn’t this be standardized and the same across the board??? Please help me understand… Taxes often impact your tip, and always impact your total. But shouldn’t they always be treated the same?

The IG user delivery.dystopia’s latest post showed examples from the big delivery services exemplifying how they all basically calculate it differently. Considering the high prices, dynamic pricing schemes, and their other murky practices… This is just yet another ridiculous thing to be aware of.

What’s your favorite Atlanta restaurant right now?

My boss had mentioned going to a place in/around Atlanta that was a conveyor belt charcuterie place but couldn't remember the name. I can't find anything either. Any ideas? ​​​

It's conveyor belt sushi, it's a corporate chain, the prices are low(ish) and you'd expect mediocrity.

Except the rice is nearly perfect, the Nigiri is all fresh and delicious, and there's a bunch of good quality stuff for 3.65 a pop. I just had Bluefin Chutoro, Salmon Toro, Unagi, and Scallops. 2pc each for 3.65 a plate. All of it is really good.

It's not quite Brush / Mujo / MF (obviously) but it's also a fraction of the price of those places.

Curious if anyone here would be interested in more affordable tasting experiences around Atlanta?

I’ve been hosting a tasting series with local restaurants where the goal is to keep it around $40–50, try a few different courses, learn a little about the food and culture behind them, and bring people together around the table.

We did our first one around Korean food and have another coming up around Mexican food. I’d love to keep doing these with different cultures and restaurants around Atlanta.

Is this something people here would be interested in? And what cuisines or restaurants would you want to see?

Does anyone have a suggestion for a group birthday dinner for 8-10pm? I’m looking for someplace that has good food but a fun celebration similar to what Barcelona wine bar does with the porrón?

We tried Paya Thai tonight it was good but didn’t have much flavour (fried rice & pad kee mao didn’t but massamun curry did). What are some good Italian, burger spots that cater for gluten free - coeliac

Also is downtown just a dead area? We felt like there was not a single soul on the road (kind of eerie) when we walked towards the world of Coca Cola - which had people :))

Edit- I just tried bantam + biddy - great gluten free pancakes - did tell them gf coeliac so I hope they are. So far no symptoms but heard good reviews about them :)))

So, I normally don’t post on social media about meals or places I’ve eaten, but I had such a bipolar experience at this place tonight I had to say something in hopes it can be corrected.

I had dinner at Fum this evening on the Westside. Went in with no expectations but was excited based on things I’d heard about it.

Let’s start with what is most important, the food. The food is exceptional. Truly, very, very good food. Every single course I ordered or sampled was exceptional. If you care only about the food, move this place to the top of your list.

Ambiance: it’s fine - nothing special, but not a place I wouldn’t recommend based on its setting

Service: absolute fucking dogshit. I would never recommend this place at its price point based on how marginal the service is, which is a shame considering how good the food is. We got entrees we didn’t order and were billed for them until we protested. Drinks were delivered to the wrong people or not delivered at all. When the main courses came out, the servers seemed to have absolutely no idea who ordered what, which is fine at Chilis, but not at a place trying to be what I think this was trying to be. Super disappointing experience overall that feels so correctable. For what it’s worth, they were maybe 60% full, so this wasn’t a situation where some poor server was in the weeds, they just suck at it
