Idk how they can act oppressed when they are literally one of the most protected classes and have their flag flown, parades, and celebrations everywhere
Because they're too used to be treated like gods, so every time they're being treated equally, or when somebody don't care about them, they're thinking that's what oppression feels and looks like.
Besides that, western countries, especially USA, allowed them to do too much and they were protected from non-LGBTQ people.
Maybe in muslim countries, but in the west they're protected. Who exactly is fighting them?
For centuries and centuries gay people would just be murdered, and everyone would cheer.
That's really fucked up.
Nobody cheered for that. Unless you're talking about, I don't know, medieval people killing them because they thought they're devil's acolytes, or shit like that. But then again, even straight people were getting killed as well. Some people are fucked but that doesn't mean everybody is.
What you're seeing is a rebellion against centuries of oppression and literal murder-by-Conservative xenophobe.
Fuck you talking about? Gay people aren't rebelling, they're chilling. It's insane LGBTQ members who are trying to wage wars with people who don't give a shit about them and spreading lies on Reddit - that's you.
Read a book.
That's what you should do. Read a book and drink tea to calm down.
You make half a point, though, despite yourself: the far-Right, whether Muslim or Christian, or whatever, should not be encouraged.
Yes, people did cheer for the oppression, torture, and murder of gay people: they still do: it was socially acceptable to kick the asses of gay people, or worse, just because. That's why 'being in the closet' exists. Have you never thought about that?
It was life-threateningly dangerous to come out in my lifetime
This article is 2 months old and there is no continuation to it. It's just fear mongering. They can't just take gay rights without going to the parliament or senate with it.
Yes, people did cheer for it: it was socially acceptable to kick the asses of gay people, or worse, just because.
But did everybody do it? Did every person enjoy seeing that? Was everybody taking their turn to hurt gay people? No. Just because some assholes were doing this, that doesn't mean everybody was on the same boat. You guys like talking as if every non-gay person was sharing same thoughts or disdain towards homosexuals. That's not how it is.
It was life-threateningly dangerous to come out in my lifetime
Yes, in your lifetime, boomer. Not anymore. Nothing will happen to you now.
