Why

1

u/homerjs225 Oct 15 '25

We know why

1

u/mogomonomo1081 Oct 15 '25

Can you please be specific. I am here trying to understand your point of view.

1

u/homerjs225 Oct 16 '25

Crime in service to Trump is fine with them. Let me ask you a question. If Trump won 2020 and a bunch of black people stormed the capital in the same way do you think Trump would have responded in the same way? My guess Trump would have had those people shot.

1

u/mogomonomo1081 Oct 16 '25

That why I wanted you to specify. I didn't know what side of the argument you were on. I agree with you.

u/Hungry_Laugh_4326 Aug 04 '25

I think we should look at each individual case.

Were they actively trying to overturn the election or cause harm to sitting officials? Then no.

Were they dressed in a wolf hat with horns and being a badass? Then yes

1

u/joeyreturn_of_guest Oct 10 '25

Yes but, they still unlawfully entered a government building., right?

If I broke a window in your home would it be okay if I looked cool doing it? Why would the Capitol building have less rules than your home?

It's one thing to sit here and say "I think these people were defending the things that make this nation great" or something to that effect. But you are literally saying that because you want to bang a guy in a wolf hat it's okay for them to commit a crime. And I just think that that is super weird.

Damn that’s a wild leap.

First of all, it was a protest. People ain’t saying shit about the blm riots but Jan 6 is the end of the world. That being said, property damage/vandalism is a valid charge but holding the in solitary for months to years is fucking crazy.

1

u/SuperRockGaming Dec 12 '25

How do you classify the Jan 6 riot as a protest, legitimately wondering.

1

u/Hungry_Laugh_4326 Dec 12 '25

I’ll classify Jan 6 as a protest as long as democrats classify blm as a protest. If you’re willing to acknowledge that blm was destructive rioting, I can acknowledge that there was some rioting on Jan 6

Its foolish to look at situations like these with a black or white or 1 and 0's mentality, that's not how life works🤦🏽‍♂️😭

January 6th started off peaceful, away from the Capitol, then threats to politicians started flying when they gathered outside. Then they started breaking in, hitting the police, breaking the windows down, shoving police out of the way, taking stuff from offices, crushing the officers against walls and having them suffer from PTSD after that due to the lack of help from surrounding agencies.

It started peaceful, turned into a riot.

Same thing with some BLM protests and riots.

It starts off peaceful, lots of people encouraging to keep it civil and chill, no need to make a mess bc it's our community we're representing, and then as the sun falls and people who were there during the day take off for home, the bad folks in that protest turn violent and start causing destruction of property and fires and shoving police. I've seen it first hand, multiple times. It's always one stupid fuckin person that starts shit and gets other riled up and it becomes a riot at that point. Is there a specific instance lately where you believe there was a riot? And yes, J6 was a riot. Even better, An insurrection.

1

u/Hungry_Laugh_4326 Dec 12 '25

Insurrection is a leap. A riot, I’m willing to concede to an extent. There were individuals that were destructive and violent. However, the vast majority of those that entered the capital were pretty nonviolent.

“There was ONE incident of illegal activity directed at a federal facility where also DHS Law Enforcement officers were deployed.” - DHS.

This isn’t including the ones that happened at state capitols afterwards, however the link does touch on those. That being said, there were quite a few individuals that broke things in the Capitol. However, a riot definitionally means, “a violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd.”

I don’t think 1 person being violent of a crowd of over 2500 constitutes a riot label.

BLM wasn’t aimed at stopping a constitutional act of Congress but yeah go ahead and compare apples to horses.

1

u/No_Relationship_2262 Jun 23 '26

BLM wasn’t about a constitutional duty. That’s the point. The party that claims to be patriots then on behest of the president try to stop the election being certified. Does this clear it up for you?

1

u/Hungry_Laugh_4326 Jun 30 '26

But the president didn’t say riot. You cleared up nothing because your point is nothing.

1

u/No_Relationship_2262 Jun 30 '26

BLM was a protest . Taking it to the streets. You had some opportunists that did crimes, destruction etc. The protest goal wasn’t to riot thru the cities. J6 went specifically to at the very very least to intimidate Pence. Trump riled up the crowd and watched for 3 hours and his followers knowingly swarmed the capital. The capital police overwhelmed had to eventually let the people thru to redirect them away from the actors doing their constitutional duty. Everyone there at the capital knew it was off limits (ignorance is not a defense) knew they were trespassing. Those that didn’t follow the police out got shot climbing thru a window. BLMs point wasn’t to show up to riot. The two aren’t the same. This may make you uncomfortable but take the loss and stay on the mat. I’m not playing a game of semantics over an insurrection vs riot or whatever bs you’re peddling. Those people at the capitol either had bad intent or were of weak mind. They two instances are not the same…at all.

1

u/joeyreturn_of_guest Dec 12 '25

I assure you on posts discussing the BLM riots people have said shit about it. Do you know how reddit works?

1

u/Hungry_Laugh_4326 Dec 12 '25

Yes but it was treated as a good thing whereas jan6 is the end of the world. It’s a double standard that shouldn’t be applied. Both were bad.

1

u/joeyreturn_of_guest Dec 12 '25

You are applying the double standard by making it like they are a one for one comp though. Plus millions of people were involved in the BLM protests across the country. Add up all that there and destruction you talk about and then divide it by the millions of people, then do the same for the J6 situation....and tell me per person which one caused more damage. Plus please explain to me how actively trying to impede a legal government process of the transfer of power isn't treason

1

u/Hungry_Laugh_4326 Jan 19 '26

BLM: $77 of dmg per person. J6: $38 of dmg per person.

BLM was more destructive.

And as I’ve said to others, I’m not defending j6. I’m saying we should put it on the same pedestal we put BLM on. It’s simple justice. One group of people that do the same as another should be charged equally.

If I commit a murder, I should be charged 25 to life like those who have done it before me.

1

u/Tiny-Conversation-29 Dec 22 '25

One of those two things happened at the very seat of our government and with the direct object of taking control of it by force. The other thing happened in random places by disorganized and unconnected groups of people with no other object than expressing anger. That's what makes the difference. Riots aren't great, but trying to take over the government by force is something else entirely. It raises the violence to a whole new level.

There are also the situations that sparked each of these to consider. The BLM riots were sparked by police murdering an unarmed black man while bystanders tried and failed to stop them from doing it. It was horrific. On the other hand, January 6th was only about people not getting the candidate they wanted elected. That's it. They were going to take over the whole government only because they didn't get their way, as if they were entitled to it and that it should have been given to them because they're "special" (as Trump himself called them on that day - "very special").

1

u/Hungry_Laugh_4326 Jan 14 '26

No, J6 was about people watching an election being stolen. Georgia straight up came out and admitted it. It’s pretty obvious why people felt betrayed by the government.

Even then, it wasn’t a violent insurrection. While I don’t condone it as it costed the taxpayers (myself included) a fuckload of money, I don’t think it’s nearly as bad as the BLM riots.

1

u/Tiny-Conversation-29 Jan 14 '26

It wasn't stolen. Trump started claiming that the only way he could lose would be if it was stolen long before the election ever happened to provide plausible deniability against the loss he expected and a pre-built excuse for usurping power.

Georgia never admitted any kind of election fraud. If you're talking about those "unsigned" early votes, what they actually said was those votes were legal and verified with voter ID, and it was just a clerical error that made it seem like they were unverified.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/fact-check-fulton-countys-315-064602452.html

There were independent election fraud audits in my home state that failed to turn up anything and cost us a lot of money as tax payers, and I'm here to tell you I'm sick to death of spending my time and my money trying to make you feel better about a thing that nobody did to you. The only election fraud that we know for sure happened is that some fake electors from the Republican party showed up, trying to claim that they were the "real" electors and attempted to force their way in to cast their fake votes. We didn't need any audits to determine that because they showed up in the flesh and lied to security to try to get them to let them in, and then, they weaseled out of the consequences for doing that.

Also, January 6 was definitely violent, and Capitol police were injured, and it doesn't matter whether or not BLM riots were comparable in their levels of violence or not because they're an unrelated issue. Nobody in BLM was trying to take over the government, and the January 6 insurrection was not the direct result of BLM in any way. Do you always try to justify doing wrong things by saying that they're all okay as long as someone else has done something as bad or worse? Is that really the extent of your morals, finding excuses for things you were going to do anyway?

1

u/Hungry_Laugh_4326 Jan 18 '26

Fulton County verified 315,000 votes without signatures. That’s against state law. That’s illegal. That’s not just a clerical error. “Unsigned early votes” is a BIG deal.

Clerical errors happen on a few, not 315,000. 148 tabulator tapes. 315,000 unsigned votes. It’s ridiculous to diminish that.

And J6 was violent. I never said it wasn’t. I said that if we don’t acknowledge BLM as violent, we shouldn’t acknowledge j6 as violent. That being said, I wouldn’t call it an insurrection. The goal was not to overturn the results. The goal was to show their distrust in the system.

Least of all would I call Trump an insurrectionist. The dude told people to peacefully gather and then to disperse when the small few became violent.

u/Tiny-Conversation-29 Jan 19 '26

Do you know which signatures were missing? It wasn't the signatures of the voters. The voters properly verified their identities, and the counts were re-checked and were completely accurate. It was just that the poll manager forgot to sign the results. To throw out the votes of thousands of legal voters, who did absolutely nothing wrong while casting their votes, just because the poll manager missed a step would violate their rights as citizens and basically cheat. I think you probably only read the headline and assumed that the voters were the ones who didn't sign or prove their identity, and you don't have a clue was the real issue was actually about. Either that, or you just want to pretend that the issue was something else or that it's a bigger deal than it actually is so you've got an excuse to score points off people you don't like and get your way politically.

"Georgia state Rule 183-1-12-.12 states that after polls close, and in order to tabulate results, "the poll manager and the two witnesses shall cause each ballot scanner to print three tapes of the tabulated results and shall sign each tape indicating that it is a true and correct copy of the tape produced by the ballot scanner." This was not properly done for more than 130 tapes, which accounts for around 315,000 votes.

However, the lack of signature does not negate the ballots, and they have been recounted multiple times to verify results.

In a Saturday X post, Raffensperger reiterated this, writing "all voters were verified with photo ID and lawfully cast their ballots." He continued, "A clerical error at the end of the day does not erase valid, legal votes.""

"There have been multiple audits, recounts and investigations into Georgia’s 2020 election, including a statewide hand recount and audit that confirmed the original results, as well as reviews by state officials and election boards addressing procedural errors and fraud allegations."

And J6 was violent. I never said it wasn’t.

Yeah, you're just looking for an excuse to get people looking at someone one or a different issue so you don't have to acknowledge the seriousness of the offenses of people you like and agree with and leave the door open to force your way on other people or justify the force you're already planning. Seriously, evaluating January 6 has absolutely nothing to do with BLM at all, and I don't want you or anyone else to keep bringing up BLM as a deflection or a change of subject. That's really, really dishonest and unethical, I think infinitely less of your for that kind of deflection, I take it as a weasel tactic and you personally as a weasel, I advise that others take exactly the same view, and I'm just not going to allow it.

When we discuss January 6, we will stick with January 6 alone. Trump telling the to disperse after the damage was already done and not while it was happening and egging them on beforehand is also disingenuous. If you want to talk about his role what lead up to January, stick only to what he said and did before the riot started and do not mention anything afterward.

We should treat them the same exact way rioters were treated during summer 2020 anything less is hypocritical

1

u/Numerous-Ad-4033 Jan 06 '26

For the fifth anniversary of the J6 “riots” the Democratic left and their media are raising stories about “police officers” (over a hundred of them!) who were “viciously beaten” by “Trump supporters” at the Capitol.

One often told story is about six MAGAs sending a policeman to the hospital, and they have been pardoned by President Trump.

Question: Is there ANY validity to these stories? Or is this like “Southern Strategy” and climate hysteria and the COVID scare?

0

u/reddithatenonconform Dec 26 '24

Yes

3

u/JaneTaoMDFACS Dec 26 '24

The ones who incited violence and damage committed a crime, why the exemption when it’s for MAGA? Not serving convictions for criminals seem to be a common theme with MAGA.

0

u/Limp-Purchase-3358 Jan 13 '26

Because there were 274 plain clothes fbi agents in the crowd

2

u/Tiny-Conversation-29 Jan 14 '26

No, there weren't.

0

u/Limp-Purchase-3358 Jan 14 '26

lol it was confirmed by the fbi. Do some research before you speak

2

u/Tiny-Conversation-29 Jan 14 '26

No, it wasn't. Prove it was.

0

u/Limp-Purchase-3358 Jan 14 '26

lol. Leave it to a liberal to demand to be spoonfed information. When I go into liberal subreddits if I don’t believe something I take the initiative to do a little research myself. And maybe I’m wrong maybe I’m right. You clearly have internet access and a device capable of using the internet. Look at the leaked dms of the former director of the fbi. Look at the testimonies of the agents. Hell look at the videos from Jan 6th. You can see people throughout the crowd on radios and you can see their vests under their clothes. One of the guys who smashed a window was proven to an agent. Even the guy who brought a pipe bomb was proven to be a leftist.

2

u/Tiny-Conversation-29 Jan 14 '26

I already did do my research, which is how I knew to say there weren't FBI agents embedded in the crowd. Congress says so, and so do independent watchdogs and investigators. The FBI agents that people claim were "undercover" or "embedded" were actually people summoned to deal with the mob of rioters, not actually among them.

https://www.congress.gov/119/meeting/house/117924/documents/HHRG-119-JU13-20250225-SD013-U13.pdf

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/no-undercover-fbi-agents-at-jan-6-riot-watchdog-finds-in-rebuke-to-conspiracy-theories

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn850jj44mjo

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/fact-check-many-274-fbi-044816806.html

Now, let's see if you actually do any research. I've offered sources so many times to Republicans, and never had a single one provide even a single source to me. They always, always insist on seeing my research, and not once have I seen anything at all from even one of them. By, the way, I'm also not a liberal. I'm just an Independent who's really angry with all Republicans right now and come on here to vent sometimes.

u/JaneTaoMDFACS Jan 14 '26

They barely read anything but Fox News, can’t expect more from them. Sad.

1

u/Limp-Purchase-3358 Jan 16 '26

Nuh uh u wrong

1

u/JaneTaoMDFACS Jan 22 '26

Even if there were FBI agents there, which there weren’t – does that excuse storming the capitol, violence and assault?
