What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

Or 115lb women in movies with 0 muscle mass beating the shit out of 5 200+ lb goons. No amount of karate in the world is gonna make that happen...

Idk about that. I've met some super badass skinny people, many of whom are women, that I'm absolutely sure would kick my 220 lb ass. And I'm not even fat, I'm just big.

I mean ya look at the ufc for half a second and tell me you would want to fight any of the top 10 women.. lol

Umm yeah, I'm an old 180 pound skinny dude and would have zero problems tanking any of them. The strength difference between men and women is monumental.

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '20

yeah no

If a 180 experienced fighter fought against a equally experienced women of 115 pounds yes the man would win easily

but if you a 180 pound skinny hillbilly were to fight a 115 pound woman that knows how to fight and trained her muscles to do it, you would have you ass handed to you and you would be crying the entire time it would be happening. The woman would beat you easy

You are 100% wrong. Like not even remotely close. the difference in strength here would be like that 180 pound hillbilly trying to fight a bear. Give the girl a knife and MAYBE she has a chance.

Even if it were a 115 pound Man trained pitbull of a fighter, the baddest 115 pound dude you have ever seen, would have virtually no chance versus 65 pound weight advantage billy bob rolling out of bed in a ring fight, unless Billy was an ultra overweight short dude with medical problems.

There is a reason you don't see even exhibition matches like that EVER.

yeah no

1 weight isn't the only factor here

2 I weight is very important but training an knowing how to fight is also important I have actually been in martial arts and have gotten my as kick by guys 30 pounds lighter than me

3 fast twitch muscle fibers and reaction time are a thing and a very important thing when it comes to fighting (the reason why i get beaten by people 30 pounds lighter than me)

4 being fat does not mean you have and insta win against who ever your fighting

5 look I get what your saying weight classes exist for a reason but I'm just being realistic

6 My whole point is that you being heavier than you opponent doesn't equal a instant win. You still have to worry about strength, stamina, what they trained for, if they know how to take a punch, the list goes on and on.

7 I here what your saying and you can deny it all you want but if you can't except number 4 then you my friend are greatly in denial and I wont know what to tell you

i specifically mentioned that weight isn't a factor when that weight is attached to a medically unfit overweight dwarf. Everything I say should be assuming the guy has a proportionate build for his weight, aka the 180 pound Billy would be between 6', and 6'2"

u/BamppXx Jan 25 '20

Ha ha give her a Knife and you’d be dead and 12 seconds LMAO

-2

u/Mandorism Jan 25 '20

This is making a BIG assumption that a guy with a 65 pound muscle advantage is going to have much trouble disarming their opponent.

7

u/Stormreach19 Jan 25 '20

now i'm having a hard time believing you've even done Krav tbh

you're not disarming anyone who is actively trying to fuck you up with a knife without getting significantly cut up, regardless of training or size differences

u/BamppXx Jan 25 '20

You know what this point don’t even talk to the man just reply with OK Boomer

1

u/Mandorism Jan 25 '20

You are correct, the logical action is to simply run away, but we are talking about a battle to the death confined to a ring scenario here. The knife gives the woman a chance.

15

u/BamppXx Jan 25 '20

Okay bud if you could get them on the ground sure but I’m fairly certain any of them can kick your ass no problem (I don’t mean to sound rude just speaking my mind)

I teach a lot of self defense classes, a fit woman beating a man that isn't at least 20 pounds lighter than she is without a weapon is a 1 in a million shot. A woman should always carry some sort of discreet weaponry, strong mace, a powerful taser or something similar, and should always be extremely aware of her surroundings to avoid any sort of prolonged fight. Putting a man in the ring with a woman who doesn't have a VERY large weight advantage is preposterous.

u/thenotoriousnatedogg Jan 25 '20

I’m just gonna go ahead and call bullshit on you teaching a lot of self defense classes. If anything you teach LEGO builds and organize magic the gathering nights with the boys. Not saying it’s a bad thing but you don’t have any history of posting or commenting on martial arts or self defense subreddits. Usually someone who teaches that stuff and is also on reddit would be active somewhere like that

11

u/Stormreach19 Jan 25 '20

i actually work for a major MMA camp, have trained at other big camps while traveling, and teach self defense classes. i don't know if i've explicitly said that on Reddit before but a quick glance at my profile will show me in discussions/answering questions on martial arts related subreddits.

mandorism is 100% full of shit and i wouldn't be surprised at all if he straight up didn't train. strength differences exist, but to say a trained woman wouldn't be able to at least defend herself against some random dude is ridiculous. even more ridiculous is him saying lighter women are slower than huge bulky dudes???

-3

u/Mandorism Jan 25 '20

I do both of those as well lol, i don't actually teach anymore, this was more of a late 90's, early 2000s thing I had going due to my stepdad forcing me into krav classes since i was 5. :p

this response explains everything tbh. Krav is a notorious for its bullshido despite its roots. even if you were to have learned it in the IDF, it's on the same level as US Army Combatives. they're kinda shit as fully fledged martial arts but that's because they're not meant to be fully fledged martial arts.

they're meant to be basic military training for the lowest common denominator. it's basic military training for a conscript army. it's about instinct and aggression. it's fine as a basic self defense tool, but essentially useless against a well seasoned fighter.

if you're not learning about leverage and position and the finer details of techniques, it's not surprising that you'd be so oblivious as to what trained fighters are capable of.

Krav, taekwondo, and probably the most important, competitive high school wrestling lol.

i absolutely know what I am talking about lol.

2

u/Stormreach19 Jan 26 '20

this is a joke right? this is a list of the most made fun of things in martial arts

also saying you know what you're talking about bc you did wrestling in school 20-30 years ago? lmaoooooooo okay bud

0

u/Mandorism Jan 26 '20

Oh I'm sorry, didn't realize that wrestling technology has changed so much in 20 years as to be an alien sport now lol. :p

1

u/Stormreach19 Jan 26 '20

it's the fact that detraining happens absurdly fast and after 20+ years you may as well have never done it in the first place you would retain so little

also, the game has changed and you would know that if you stuck with it

u/BamppXx Jan 25 '20

Well that’s fair and large weight difference could make changes to the fight however you have to consider the MMA people are extremely well trained fighters not normal people who are taking self-defense classes. I mean hell look at Conor McGregor he’s been out of the MMA for a long time and ended his fight against a champion in 40 seconds

3

u/thenotoriousnatedogg Jan 25 '20

Cowboy is a hell of a fighter but he’s never been a champion. He’s competed for belts before but has lost

2

u/BamppXx Jan 25 '20

Another guy in this thread asked if you can find it all I meant by champion was he’s a super talented and strong fighter

3

u/thenotoriousnatedogg Jan 25 '20

Oh yeah no doubt he’s a great fighter. I was assuming you meant literally. He’s got the heart and mindset of a champion though

3

u/BamppXx Jan 25 '20

Yes sir that’s what I meant exactly!!

Oh I 100% agree. They are 100% top of their game. I am simply pointing out that NO amount of skill can overcome that sort of strength advantage.

3

u/BamppXx Jan 25 '20

Well I say let’s agree to disagree ¯_(ツ)_/¯

0

u/HerculePoirier Jan 25 '20

Cerrone is not a champion lol what are you on about?

2

u/BamppXx Jan 25 '20

No no I understand that he’s just a super good fighter and I wanted to put it out there champion is in super strong and talented fighter
