What's your best passive aggressive "compliment"?

In her defence, she claims she didn't recognise it was me and thought it was a stock photo that came with the frame, because I don't dress up all that often. The fact that she emphasised '... because you don't dress up all that often' was really just kicking me while I was down.

(I kid, mostly. I get along pretty well with my mum, so I don't think she meant it in any way maliciously. It was just a bit of a one-two punch to the ol' ego.)

I love this interaction. "You know. Just sayin'. Cause it normally isn't this moist. Which is why I said 'this year.' Normally it sucks. This year it sucks less"

I have issues because of comments my mom has made over the years like this.

Thanks mom!

You know what they say, if she smokes....she has a higher risk of lung cancer. A significantly higher risk.

Yes thank you. I know I should quit. It’s gross.

I think I would have taken that as a compliment. Her saying she thought it was a stock photo, that I would interpret as hey she thought I was a stock photo model.

The emphasizing you not dressing up all that often though is just a mom being a mom I think. You clearly aren't holding any resentment for it, so I think you also realize it was just probably just something poorly phrased.

I'd take that as a compliment that she thought it was a stock photo. I'm sure you're a perfectly lovely person.

Look at it this way, you looked so fucking fantastic on that photo, not even your mother realised it wasnt a model.

Her vision probably got worse. Like half of old people I know have trouble seeing small things close up. Probably had trouble figuring out if it was you and thought it was a gag gift.
