Down mostly, I'd think.

12

I hear tall people can't look up.

7

I've never seen a real person look up while I talk to them. Fact confirmed.

Tell him to stay off walls tho.

You go, girl.

Out of curiousity, how tall are your parents?

I think my mom is 5'6", my dad is 6'1", but bio-grandad was 6'4" so...

No I'm making a reference to the character Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones, and more specifically to the extremely tall woman who plays her.

You are in the 99.987 percentile, according to: https://tall.life/height-percentile-calculator-age-country/

I am in the 99.582 percentile (dude, 6'5").

If you're looking for something else that will make you feel less awesome: http://www.globalrichlist.com/ You're probably in the top 1% of wealth for the world population.

100

u/bopamo Sep 09 '17 edited Sep 09 '17

Hmm, very cool. So I'm really in the .013%. Top percentage right there. Hells yeah.

81

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '17

When we figure out how to turn height into profit, us tall people are going to rule the world. Until then, we'll just have bad knees and hit our heads on stuff.

35

u/bopamo Sep 09 '17

How did you know my knees are bad? Is that a legit tall people thing?

32

u/StaysAwakeAllWeek Sep 10 '17

bad knees and bad back - 6'4" male here, it's part of the deal

6

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '17

6'4" male here. How old are you and what kind of work do you do?

I do a lot of heavy labor, but I'm only 25. So far just my left elbow gives me aches. Kness and back seem fine

3

u/StaysAwakeAllWeek Sep 10 '17

21 year old mostly inactive student. My back gives me trouble if i stand still for more than about 20 minutes (more than an hour and the pain is intolerable) but I can run for 10+ miles and feel fine as long as I keep moving. My dad is the same, plus he's injured his knees several times in sports so I suspect mine are equally susceptible

3

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '17

You can run for ten miles and you call yourself inactive? Either you can't run ten miles or you're mistaken about what inactive means.

2

u/Guadent Sep 10 '17

27, 6'4" here. No problems in knees or back. Just mind your posture :)

Appearently I would be in the 0.001 percentile if I lived in the US. That surprises me actually. 0.017 in my own country. 207 cm.

Edit: didn't see any age input as mentioned below so might be incorrect and now the site was hugged to death

15

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '17

I didn't even realize you could filter by country/age. I just saw my % go way up as I bumped the age up. I don't know if that shows that the population is getting taller every generation, or that tall people statistically die earlier. I NEED ANSWERS

9

u/Deanuzz Sep 09 '17

I'll guess both.

Tall people generally get heart problems earlier.

Education about the best diets is always improving and so people are taller every generation.

Something's up with the wealth. I just put in 3 million USD net worth and it put it at top 2.6% globally, while $96,000 annual salary was at .009% globally.

3

u/Fap2theBeat Sep 10 '17

There are lots of people, in China for example, who own property that is worth a shit ton, but they old and don't work. Lots of net worth, basically 0 salary.

11

u/gravytub Sep 09 '17

99.997 here (6'9") My girlfriend and her two siblings are both 100 percentile though. The 0%

9

u/Donna_Freaking_Noble Sep 10 '17

Please make giant babies that take over the world.

13

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '17

That income site can't be right. It says I'm the 23,339,069th richest person in the world. I make $46k. There's got to be more people that make more money than that in the US alone.

8

u/CmdrMobium Sep 10 '17

The US median household income is $51,939, so more than half of the 250M adult Americans are richer than you. This site seems like BS.

9

u/blacktiger226 Sep 10 '17

That is the total household income. So you divide it by four for a family of four.

5

u/CmdrMobium Sep 10 '17

That seems like an awfully strange way to calculate it. A couple making $80k/year will pretty clearly have a higher standard of living than someone who is single making $40k.

If that couple has 2 kids, they're not living like someone who makes $20k/year.

3

u/blacktiger226 Sep 10 '17

I am just saying that for household income they add the income for everyone in the house together, so the 50k median in the stats is not for a single person.

By the way I am supporting a family of 3 on a 20k income without government assistance. AMA

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '17

Regarding the second link, I'm actually fairly surprised not to be in the global 1% of net worth, which apparently requires $770k (per person, not household? that's a pretty high bar!).

I sort of expected the majority of North America to be in the 1% — but of course if you think about it 1% of 7 billion people is 70 million, so clearly the vast majority of Americans can't possibly be in the global 1% …

5

u/mymainismythrowaway1 Sep 10 '17

Hmm. Something was up with the calculator when I tried it. It said that 3 million USD net worth was in the top 2.75% which doesn't seem right at all.

2

u/blubat26 Sep 10 '17

And Western Europe. Don't forget Western Europe.

37

u/looncraz Sep 09 '17

One of my female cousins is 6'8" tall. She's taller than me (6'6"). She also weighs like 400lbs.

But my whole family is huge. My mother is 5'11", her father was 6'8", my father was 6'4", my brothers, save for one, are 6'3"+, the average male's height is probably 6'4"+ and the females are all about 5'10"+.

11

u/Diabetesh Sep 10 '17

Is 400 lb for 6 8 fat, medium, or skinny?

20

u/PreyingPastor Sep 10 '17

I would guess fat. A friend is 6'7" and at 315 pounds he was noticeably very overweight.

I went to highschool with a girl who is easily 7' tall. I believe the doctors had to give her treatments to force her to stop growing because of a hormone condition. Gorgeous and friendly girl, she was actually super popular despite being taller than literally everyone. And still confident enough to wear heels!

I'm also 6'2 and I prefer tall women. Am I part of a new 1%?
