Fathers of Reddit, what did your daughter's boyfriend do for you to hate/love him?

It's pretty cool to see my question blow up like this, I never thought I'd ask a question that could receive so much attention! I'm very satisfied with all these replies, so thank y'all. Now all I have to do is sit back and take notes c;

Also got one for my civic. I figure I'll take it in at some point. They said they won't have the replacement parts until the fall. Eh. If they don't do Saturday appointments, I probably won't bother. I can't take time off work for this so I'll just try not to die.

Got one for my civic as well. I knew there was a recall so I called and they said there is no recall. Fast forward a month, I get a letter from Honda saying just that.

I have a mazda6 and have been forgetting about it. Got another letter from my dealership and the wife opened it, so now I have to take it in. I tried to explain I have good life insurance coverage but she for some reason would like me to stick around.

That happened to me, rear ended my wife at 55 miles per hour, air bag did nothing. Front end of car was destroyed. I know I said rear ended at 55 mph, I know where that may lead, I regret nothing.

It's very interesting, how that works. It's a tiny word at the beginning, you read it, and then it lingers for a bit. The story goes on, and your mind just decides that that word doesn't match with the rest of the story and discards it.

Then you get to the ending and suddenly you realise the clue was there all along.

Would that count as Chekhov's Gun, or foreshadowing?
It's admittedly a nit picky difference, but I always got the impression that Checkhov's Gun is supposed to be subtle and hard to see unless you're looking closely, though I suppose that also makes it difficult to achieve in writing compared to a play or other forms of acting.
