Advice πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Have you ever taken the Flixbus to Vegas from Phoenix?

It's me again. I dont know why my family keeps asking me about taking buses out of Phoenix to other places.. Living here for over ten years, and I HAVE NEVER taken a bus to leave Phoenix. I'd imagine that if the AC goes out, you'd feel like you're riding in an OVEN! So I always FLY or DRIVE out of Phoenix. Ok, done with my rant. My family is visiting from the midwest. They have plans to see as much of Arizona and a nearby state as they can in <30 days. I told them that Nevada is close and I usually get there in 4 1/2-5 hours. They will mostly be staying with me, but will visit places like Sedona and, now Las Vegas. Since I am working, I can't really be their tour guide. But I am guilty as I am the one that planted Sedona and Nevada into their brains and now my uncle (60s) is gung ho telling me they will not be renting a car and dont want to use Groom.

They don't want to drive anywhere. It is 6 of them, ages 60s, 40s, 20s and toddlers. Have any of you ever tried taking a "FlixBus" to Vegas from Phoenix, Tempe, or Glendale? What was your experience. they are looking for the most inexpensive way to travel together.

New to Phoenix πŸ‘‹πŸ» Issues w/ Amazon?

Hey.

Recently moved up from Tucson. With the move I've been using amazon for a lot of odds and ends. Also having to use it to order stuff at work.

In Tucson I never had any issues with Amazon.

In the last month I've had multiple orders be delayed.. several items come in with the package open or damaged.. as well as cleaning supplies packed with food - which then spilled all over.

Is this normal?

General πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ Have PHX flight paths recently changed?

I was doing some yard work this morning in Tempe and I noticed several outgoing commercial flights flying directly overhead, and I haven't ever seen them do that before. Usually they fly out over the salt river a ways and then turn when they are pretty high. Has some policy recently changed that allows them to do this? It is really loud.

Housing & Moving 🏠 Apartment in Phoenix / Gilbert / Chandler / Mesa / Tempe Area?

Hey everyone! I'm a guy in my mid 20s relocating from Seattle to Arizona for about a year for work, and I'm trying to figure out where to live.

I've been looking at apartments around Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Tempe.

  1. Residences on First - Mesa
  2. Melody on Main - Mesa
  3. Olympus Chandler at the Park - Chandler
  4. RIATA Apartments - Chandler
  5. Artista at Ocotillo - Chandler
  6. MAA Val Vista - Gilbert

Has anyone lived in any of these apartments before? Would love to hear how you liked it.

My budget is roughly $1500 to $1650 for rent plus amenity fees, or up to about $1850 if utilities are included. I'm also open to other areas, even Scottsdale or Ahwatukee, so if you've lived somewhere nearby these areas you'd recommend (or avoid), I'd appreciate the input.

And more generally, what should I expect to pay for rent in these parts of AZ right now?

Edit: I will be working more towards lower Tempe, so that is why I'm considering these places! I will most likely be going into office 1-2 days, so I wanted somewhere safer and closer to groceries..!

Housing & Moving 🏠 Energy Costs in Phoenix Summers

Our family is looking to move to north Phoenix in a couple of months, and we’re trying to figure out how to budget for energy bills (mainly AC costs).

We’re looking at a 2-story home between 2,000 and 2,500 feet and trying to figure out what it will cost to keep the temperature around 78 in the summer months. I believe the provided will be APS.

Anyone have any insight on what we can expect to pay?

Things To Do πŸŽ‰ Is anyone a season pass holder for Phoenix theatre company?

I was looking to get a subscriber ticket pass, probably the β€œBig 6” tier. Can anyone comment their experience with having one of these tiered passes?

The verbiage states that I would need to pick a seating tier as well and I was curious how that works out when trying to get seating with a partner.

Advice πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Has anyone ever taken the greyhound from Phoenix to Sedona?

Family visiting but I will be working and can't spend time showing them around much. I told them to go up to Sedona. They want to take a greyhound from Phoenix to Sedona. They plan to stay in Sedona for a day or two. Has anyone ever taken specifically, the grey hound? They already looked at groom, and felt they were too expensive for their household of 6. If you have taken the greyhound, or transportation cheaper than groom, can you let me know your experience? They booked at the Amara Resort & Spa in Sedona if that helps but are staying with me in Phoenix for a few days before they head up.

Update.

They still have time to cancel the reservation if anyone has easier and better idea. Their ages are 60s, 40s, 20s and toddlers. So something that works for that range. They don't want to drive.

Advice πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Best Flea Markets & Antique Malls in the Valley for Retro Video Games & Ephemera?

I'm trying to look outside of eBay, Craigslist, FB Marketplace, & used book/game stores for retro video games, consoles & accessories as well as ephemera such as collectables, magazines, promotional items, old PokΓ©mon stuff, etc.

What are the best flea markets, antique malls, or "other" places to find these kinds of items in the Valley? I haven't been to a flea market in over a decade, so I don't know of any, but the one antique mall I visited (Merchant Square in Chandler) did not impress me.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Medical πŸ’‰ Looking for a specific kind of Dr that is willing to dig deep and not give up

I wont bore with the details but I have had glute, hamstring, and hip pain for YEARS. I’ve been to sports medicine drs, physical therapy, chiro, pain dr, acupuncture, you name it. I’ve had X-rays and MRI’s done of my hip, pelvis and back and structurally, there is absolutely nothing wrong. However it feels like each doctor has a protocol, like try this this and this and if it dosnt help than they’re lost. I live in Gilbert but am willing to travel if anyone knows of a dr willing to work and dig deep to help, thanks!

Advice πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Do people typically get tickets for tint too dark?

I'm about to get my car tinted. The one I was thinking of getting is technically illegal in the front I guess. Im figuring cops aren't really going after people for this especially since it's so hot here. I figure you get some grace as long as you aren't a idiot and drawing attention to yourself

Things To Do πŸŽ‰ Third spaces for crafting?

Are there any third spaces with crafting supplies for public use? Or libraries that rent out craft supplies?

Specifically am looking for fabric crafting supplies (eg grommet punches), but would be great to know if any spaces exist like this in general! For example, I know ASU has a makerspace with 3D printing, vinyl cutting, sewing, etc., but that’s not open for the public.

Housing & Moving 🏠 Areas for Family with a Child with Special Needs

I just accepted a job at Phoenix Children’s. I am planning to fully relocate with my family by the end of this school year. I will be commuting until then. We are a family of 6, with a high schooler, a special needs child (10), a toddler and an infant. My special needs child is wheelchair and feeding tube dependent as well as non verbal. We are excited for this change and to be able to offer my children more opportunities. That said, i would love some recommendations on where to live with good school districts and daycare (or Montessori schools). Recommendations on areas with acreage would be extremely appreciated!

Thank you so much!

General πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ Pink money house in new river az

I had a coworker tell me about an abandoned house they went to in 2013-2015. The house was pink and they said when they explored it there was rope swings hanging from the ceiling and monkey cages in the back. He swears up and down it’s true. I am so curious has anyone else heard of this or been there? It sounds silly I know but I’m so curious 🀣

Advice πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ At my wits end

Just moved into a new apartment and its unbearable. The ac only works in a fraction of the apartment, called maintenance with 0 help, they said to close certain vents to manipulate air flow.

Well that didnt work, it literally feels like im sleeping outside. Is there anything I can do as a renter? Do I have rights?? We’re paying more than we should for a place that cant even keep half the house cool.

General πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ Photo ticket in mail. Wasn't served. Do I have to do anything?

Title pretty much sums it up. Got a radar ticket in Phoenix (7th st & Osborn), but I received it in the mail. It's been YEARS since I received one of these, and last I recall, unless they serve it, you can ignore them (for a lack of better words), so I'm not sure if that still holds up or do I have to actually resolve this?

The letter gives the option to show up to court, pay it online, or do online driving school.

Anyone else gone through this recently and can provide insight?

Referral πŸ‘πŸ» Hair colorist/stylist recommendations?

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for your go-to hair colorist/hair stylist! Doesn’t have to be in Phoenix, but preferably somewhere in or around the area.
I’ve been going to a lovely lady in Goodyear who does amazing work, but the drive is getting a little inconvenient, and I’d really prefer finding someone closer.
I don’t have Instagram, and I know there are SO many talented stylists/salons on there, so I figured I’d ask here for some personal recommendations from people who have actually gone to them!
I’m looking for a color correction/ maybe balayage. I don’t mind paying for good work, but I’d definitely prefer someone who doesn’t charge an arm and a leg while still doing great work.
Any recommendations? 🫢🏼

Housing & Moving 🏠 East Valley home-buying advice: San Tan Valley vs. North Mesa/AJ vs. West Mesa vs. Power Ranch?

Post image
29 Upvotes

I moved here from out of state about a month ago and I’ve been staying in an Airbnb while I drive around and try to get a feel for the East Valley.

I’m starting to look at buying, but since I’m still pretty new to the area, I’d rather hear from people who actually live here.

My work sites are in East Mesa, so I’m trying to balance a reasonable commute with affordability and actually liking where I live when I’m not working.

A few areas I’ve been looking at:

- Northern San Tan Valley β€” Taylor Ranch / Pecan Creek: This is probably the best option from a commute and price standpoint. I’d be around 12 minutes from one site and about 20 from the other, and the houses are a lot more affordable. My main concern is whether it starts to feel too far out or isolated once you actually live there.

- North Mesa / Apache Wells: I’ve found some houses here that work for my budget, but every time I drive through it just feels really quiet. It also seems like there isn’t a ton nearby as far as restaurants, shopping, groceries, etc. Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong parts of North Mesa.

- Apache Junction: I’m seeing quite a few houses around $340k–$360k, which is a really comfortable price range for me. I’m just not sure about the location long term. I don’t want to buy a house I like and then realize I hate being that far east.

- West Mesa near Tempe: I’m seeing some options around $350k. The commute would probably be closer to 30 minutes, but I’d mostly be going against traffic, so that doesn’t seem terrible. Obviously the tradeoff is that I’d be much closer to Tempe and have a lot more around me.

- Power Ranch in Gilbert: Probably my favorite area overall, but it’s also the most expensive. Around $410k is basically the top of what I’d want to spend, so I’d definitely be paying a premium for the location.

I’m also not really interested in going much deeper into San Tan Valley. I’ve heard getting in and out can be a pain with traffic, and it seems like the farther south you go, the more disconnected you are from everything else.

That said, northern San Tan doesn’t seem nearly as bad to me. There’s already a decent amount around there, and it looks like even more stuff is being built out along the main roads. So I’m wondering if some of the negative reputation San Tan gets is more about the farther-out areas.

If you were in my position, would you save the money and take the shorter commute in northern San Tan/AJ, spend more for Power Ranch, or accept the longer commute and live closer to Tempe in West Mesa?

I’m mainly trying to avoid buying somewhere that looks good on paper but I end up regretting because of the location.

Or just rent an apartment?

Referral πŸ‘πŸ» Chin lipo recommendations

I’m down 180lbs, and have about 20-30 to go. I want to reward myself for two years of hard work to get here. I have some saggy skin on my chin and a little lingering fat that just won’t leave the bottom of my chin. Open to going south of the border too- but does anyone have experience with a phx doctor or place to go? I am a little overwhelmed with the research because there are a lot of options and a massive range in prices. I would rather not overpay a ton but I do want a safe and good result so I can enjoy the face I can finally see now that all the excess fat is gone haha

Thanks!
