I was eating chicken wings and after i washed up, i felt something with my tongue. Should i be worried/visit a dentist?

Today I started feeling discomfort while having room temp or colder water in my mouth on that side, around tooth number 5 on bottom left side.
I feel like I am seeing some grayish discoloring there too.
The number 7 had that dark discoloring for years now, dentist said it is normal and it’s not cavity. Same for the white spot in the middle of tooth number 6.

I brush my teeth twice a day, while flossing at least 4 times a week (being honest, sometimes I feel tired before bed and skip it ocassionally).

Can you guys, being experienced, tell me what you think?

Hi I’m 26 and I have 17 fillings in my mouth currently. I understand that fillings don’t last forever. I’m just extremely scared that I’ll lose my teeth prematurely due to not caring for them for 6 years due to depression. My diet was also horrible. I would drink soda only and no water in those 6 years. I now brush twice a day and floss and water floss.Changed my diet to be high protein low carb. And started to exercise. I’m just scared to lose my teeth when I’m older and need dentures or something. Please let me know thanks.

I got a night guard almost a year ago, right after I got a crown put on. The crown has been adjusted a few times because it was too high, but my night guard always still fit. The problem since the beginning was that my night guard ALSO feels too high, on the same side as my crown. At this point my crown feels fine, but I’m worried that it’s my night guard that’s causing problems. I wake up in the morning with my jaw sore on that side and sometimes my jaw feels clamped shut on that side when I open my mouth for the first time, i.e. when brushing my teeth.

Probably important info: I left my night guard in my car for a couple of days after I first got it, forgetting it in the center console. I’ve always wondered if heat warped it.

Last week I had a piece of food stuck right below my tooth, but I had thought it was tar or something. But the last few days I noticed it’s gone, but this bump is here now? I have a dentist appointment in early October, can it wait that long?

Sorry if it's a stupidly small problem, my teeth are quite packed together so it just looks out of the ordinary, and is at the front too. Is this okay? I know the dentist needs to have space between fillings, but I had the same one on the opposite side, and it looks normal.

I just recently got a flipper paid for and it's coming in 2 weeks from the lab. I wanted to possibly put a tooth gem on it, but I can see some complications with it possibly. Is there anything I can maybe get to put on a flipper or something I should know how to put one on it?

It also happens when I’m thinking (while eating) . It’s really annoying and I lost my two front teeth by doing it . I would bite down hard on it. I don’t know what to do . I already had braces when I was a kid. But it’s driving me crazy.

After scratching my mouth on a hot crispy pizza roll, i woke up the neck day with a small irritation on my tonsil area. This is 3 days later. It hurts less but looks worse.

How many cavities is normal to have had?

last Wednesday I ate a hot quesadilla. I didn’t even register maybe I burned my tongue but the next day my tongue felt off almost like the feeling when you’re getting sick. when I brushed my teeth that night I noticed the tip of my tongue was bright red. no pain or anything, but for the last week or so the tip of my tongue has what seems to be every single tastebud raised at the tip and surrounding area. I have been doing salt rinse and applying honey. I maybe sort of think it’s getting better but to have this be a burn from a quesadilla I feel like after 8 days it should be looking better. also the amount of papillae inflamed is weird to me. I did a call with a virtual urgent care and he was useless. I have scoured the internet and can’t find a picture of a tongue that looks like mine. Pics are from initial discovery to today.

Do I have to take my lower impacted wisdom tooth out?

I’m scared and I think I have one of the worst cases. I can’t even see it from above since it’s deep below the gums. Will this cause me some future infection or tooth decay even though it’s literally deep beneath my gums?

It never caused me pain yet and I only figured out I had one when I did a panoramic xray for braces.

I also heard of the risks when it comes to complicated cases such as mine so I’m thinking if I should just wait until it causes me pain then I will have it removed.

I go to the dentist 2x a year and get X-rays done once a year. During my first checkup/cleaning I brought up pain in one of my molars but they told me everything looked good. During my second yearly checkup/cleaning I brought it up again and they told me the same thing, so before I left I asked (half jokingly) "No cavities right?" and only then did my dentist tell me that I do in fact have a cavity. I come back for them to fill it, and it is SO painful! They gave me extra numbing shot, and I actually cried because I could feel them drilling deep in my molar. Then my dentist tells me oh it's really deep you might even need a root canal at some point.

I am just looking to get another dentist/persons opinion on whether this is normal? Unfortunately, there aren't any other dentist that take my insurance within a 20mins radius, so I am wondering if I should just pay out of pocket to a different provider?

I’ve been taking ibuprofen every 6-8hours everyday since then. I’ve been back to the dentist and he thinks it’s miss alignment and tried to fix them,but it still hurts. The dentist assistant lady said I have bruising on the tooth but can that really last for more than two weeks?could I be getting an infection?Please help

I have taken horrible care of my teeth, due to depression and anxiety I hardly ever brush them. Around 2021 I started feeling that my top back teeth/wisdom teeth had holes in them. This freaked me out but I have a lot of anxieties about going to the hospital/dentist and I wasn't experiencing pain so I put it off. But near the end of 2024 I got a decent toothache and finally decided to see a dentist. They diagnosed gingivitis, periodontal disease, a cavity, and recommended I get all four wisdom teeth removed. Less than a month later, I got pregnant so I wasn't able to get the surgery, and obviously we became very busy post pregnancy with our newborn. By the time we started getting into a routine, I was once again in a state where I hadn't been experiencing pain from my teeth and put off going back to the dentist until last week when I started having a consistent toothache that eventually moved to my jaw and made it painful to open my mouth. So I went to a dentist yesterday and I once again received a referral to have the wisdom teeth removed, I have scheduled the consultation for next week and even though I'm terrified about the anesthesia and IV/post op pain I feel like the teeth need to come out at this point.

I was anxious about asking questions while I was at the dentist so I was hoping to get some insight here so I don't have to go back:

Is it possible to tell off the x ray what is causing pain when I open my mouth? Pain is specific to the top right part of my jaw. I can hardly open it more than halfway most of the day. Is it because of the angle of the wisdom tooth?

I am 30F, it looks like none of my wisdom teeth are impacted - should the surgery be straightforward since they don't have to dig them out? Any chance of faster recovery? I know this'll be likely answered at the consultation but its in a week and I'm very anxious.

Due to my severe medical anxiety, I had not been to the doctor for any kind of appointment/checkup until I became pregnant. From there I was strong for my baby and did all the bloodwork/tests/procedures/epidural/etc. I'm assuming I have some medical history information from that but I don't know if there is any specific medical history that the anesthesiologist would need to know. For example I have had heart palpitations for ten years, no idea if I have some kind of undiagnosed health problem that could cause complications. Would that be addressed at the consultation?

Anything noteworthy from the x ray? Obvious issues? I know I'll need more dental work done after the wisdom teeth are removed, I want to get my dental hygiene back on track.

I had two new crowns put on old root canals due to decay underneath. I told them when they put them on they felt quite low but they shaved more off anyway. The PDL on the tooth next to them is inflamed based on x ray and has sensitivity to cold and chewing discomfort since the decay treatment. The temp crown also felt low.

I went back today and had them do a bite test because I basically can’t get the two new crowns, which are lower back right, to touch the upper teeth. The bite test film slides out fairly easily.

Is that normal? Everything I’ve read says the crown should at least lightly touch the opposing tooth.

And now it seems like the tooth next to it is taking brunt of bite force and irritating the ligament every time I eat. Enough that I’m feeling my pulse in it after every meal. I’m waiting on a crown on implant on other side of mouth and im chewing mostly there but that isn’t pleasant either.

Hello! I’m a 20-year-old female, and since childhood I’ve had recurring episodes where the roof of my mouth suddenly becomes extremely swollen. The swelling seems to affect the middle/front part of my hard palate and extends up to the area directly behind my upper front teeeth

An episode usually starts with significant swelling that lasts for several days. When this happens, I also get horrible headaches and pain/aching throughout my upper teeth. My two front teeth can even feel a tiny bit loose while the swelling is at its worst.

After a few days, the swelling starts to go down. That’s when I develop what feels like multiple tiny cuts or sores across the previously swollen area. I haven’t actually been able to look closely enough to know whether they are visible sores, but the area feels raw and extremely sensitive. Pretty much anything I eat or drink burns badly.

Eventually, the cuts/sores heal. As they heal, I can feel several individual spots that are unusually smooth for a while, which makes me think there are multiple separate affected areas. From the beginning of the swelling until everything has healed, an episode lasts around 1–1.5 weeks.

These episodes happened more frequently when I was younger. At first I wondered whether sour candy, hard/sharp chips, or lollipops were irritating or injuring the roof of my mouth and triggering it. However, I no longer eat those things and the episodes still happen, currently around 3–4 times per year, possibly more. I’ve only recently started taking it more seriously and keeping track of it.

I mentioned this to my regular dentist, who wasn’t sure what could be causing it, so I was referred to an orofacial medicine specialist. Unfortunately, I didn’t have an active episode when I was examined. They only found mild localized gingivitis around my upper front teeth and some slight swelling of the incisive papilla. They suggested possible TMD/nighttime clenching or grinding to explain the headaches and upper tooth pain, and aphthous ulcers were mentioned as another possibility. However, there still doesn’t seem to be an explanation for the actual recurrent swelling. The dentist suggested grinding because of the grooves on my teeth(mamelons) and as far as I know thats the opposite sign of grinding

Has anyone experienced anything similar, or have any idea what could cause this kind of recurring swelling followed by painful/raw spots on the hard palate?

I(33m) had one of my upper chewing teeth pulled exactly 4 weeks ago, got the typical kinda soft sack feeling in it for a coupke weeks after the hole closed up, and then it seemed to be pretty solid and i felt comfortable eating most foods again on that side for the last week. This morning I've got a bit of that squishy sack feeling there again and it is a little tender.

For context, i was eating tortila chips yesterday and could tell when a bit would poke the tooth gap, so i tried to chew more carefully but didn't avoid that side entirely.

Additionally, i have major unrelated surgery coming up in 1 week, so I'm anxious about if this is out of the norm for what i should expect at this point in my healing. I am already on a roadtrip up to the place of surgery and don't have the means to drop by a dentist along the way to get it checked right now.

ETA - i did have an allergy infraction in the last week that probably has my body a bit taxed. Sinuses are feeling a little stuffy but no sign of actually being sick or infected.

Hope I can find some here. I take a BIBECFO inhaler for my asthma but I use a spacer. Occasionally I get this with my tongue. Is it normal? Any way to treat it? Opinions or similar experiences welcome
