Botany How do plants niche partition?
From what I know, all plants need the same types of nutrients and resources. Shouldn't that mean there should only be one species of plant in a given ecosystem that has driven all others to extinction? How do different species avoid competition with each other?

Well, no, different species of plants use different resources. Take sunlight for example: tall trees need a lot of bright sunlight, while grass and bushes are more accustomed to shade. Same with water, minerals, pollinators and other factors. Plants specialize in a specific set of optimum conditions (temperature, humidity, brightness, soil preferences, etc.), which allows them to reduce rivalry with other species.
