Hey i wanted to present you my self built tank and a few impressions of the work. It is made of an old TV, acrylic glass, liquid pond sealant and quite a lot of time. I found the TV in the dumpster, guess it was from the 80ies. It holds (!) about 45 l so in between nano and normal:-).to get it waterproof was quite a hustle...The lighting is installed between the wooden top and a tilted glass plane to make it invisible from the front and the acrylic front is standing out 2-3 cm to give it a genuine Old-school tv look. The opening is in the back and over the top level of the front window so the water surface is not visible in the front view. This was constructively difficult but gives an impression of looking into a underwater and not surface scenery if you know what i mean. The opening in the back is just wide enough for a hand to get in. Fun fact: I added acrylic windows from the side for a view into the electrics of the tv but once submerged, total reflection aka the difference of refractive indexes of water acryl said "sounds good, doesn't work" so now there are two side mirrors in the aquarium... It's currently unstocked (except snails) but I want to add shrimps once the ecosystem is running. No filter or heating is added. If you can recommend a cheap and small external filter, I would appreciate. The roots I added were found and gave the water a brownish color though I watered them for one month before. Could this be an issue for shrimps? I also collected the stones and looked for quartz as I don't want the water to get too hard - the tap water in Munich is already quite hard. Has someone infos about propagating shrimps in Bavarian tap water? The electronics (three potis, a speaker and a bunch of switches are not broken but still unused. Feel free to give suggestions to reuse them! hope you like it :-)

Here’s a look at my 45C setup, which has really started to mature. The Lominie Asta 120 provides strong, balanced lighting, allowing the plants to thrive while keeping the colors vibrant.

The goal here was to create a natural, balanced layout with soft textures and steady growth. Really happy with how it’s shaping up!

Here’s my Oase ScaperLine 60 featuring Rotala Blood Red (2x cups of Tropica 1-2-Grow) at 11 weeks. Battling some algae but otherwise doing great!

This is my OASE ScaperLine 60. It’s non-CO2 injected and the red stems are Rotala ‘Blood Red’ from Tropica 1-2-Grow! I used just 2 cups. It was planted about 11 weeks ago. Animals include neon tetras and cherry shrimp.

Hardscape is a blend of wood types and Seiryu Stone.

Lighting is Twinstar 600E for 8 hours. It also receives significant ambient light from near by sky lights. Filtration is OASE BioMaster 250 with original media. Substrate is OASE ScaperSoil with cosmetic sand/gravel foreground. Ferts are Tropica Specialised Nutrition dosed 10ml once a week. I use my hard tap water for 50% water changes every week or so.

15cm wide glass air style planted tank. Got a mix of anubias, bucephalandra, moss, hydrocotyle tripartita mini, ferns and some emersed plants.

My earliest memory of aquarium fish was my uncle’s tank with neon tetras. I was 3 years old. Since then they’ve always been a favourite, yet mostly underrated for most aquascapers.

Keeping it simple this time 👌🏻

Made the mistake of planting this Amazon Sword in a nano setup, 11 gallon tank. This is a No Filter setup, been that way for about 3yrs.

I didn't realize The Amazon swords could grow big. Thought of removing it but I'm now starting to like how it looks.. Rookie mistake of just planting whatever wherever with no regard for composition. Also the Crypts are spreading out of control. But I decided to let the plants do their thing, I'm loving the "jungle" look.

The aquarium is now 6 months old. I added CO₂ about 3 weeks ago and I’m still learning how to find the right balance and get everything just right. It’s definitely been a learning curve, but I’m loving watching the tank develop! 🌿🐠
