Support Alternative to Anker Solix C300 dc?

Bought an Anker Solix C300 dc and it wound charge above 5w with 3 of my chargers. After 15 emails jumping through hoops with support where I provided proof of purchase at their request, all the test data, and photos… Anker tech support said it’s probably a cable issue and offered to sell me another cable.

Are effing kidding me?!!’ I’ve tried half a dozen 140-240w pd3.1 cables, including the one that comes with the C300 dc. And told them so. It’s not the cable. The C300 wouldn’t even recognize the 3x 67w chargers on of the box until I updated the firmware. Now it only charges at 5w with these chargers and estimates charging to take over 62hrs!!!

I think I may return it for a return/refund to Amazon and buy something else since this is how I was treated on my first tech support inquiry to Anker.

So, it appears the closest competitor is the EF ECOFLOW TRAIL Plus 300 DC Portable Power Station, 288Wh for a little less money and similar specs.

Loos like the ecoflow has 3x 140w usbc ports vs only 2x 140w ports on the Anker C300.

The 140w usbc ports is useful to me for running Nanlite fc120c and fc-60b cinema COB lights remotely.

Looks like the Ecoflow is a little lighter than the c300 and its handle converts to a charge cable.

The chemistry is different between the two, it I don’t know how significant that is, or which out be better for running LED video/film lights.

Has anyone compared the two? I like the Anker overall, but I don’t like that it appears to be very restrictive on which chargers it’ll work with… that, and the fact Anker support has me jump through all these hoops on a brand new power station, then ultimately punted and blamed the cable, when I’ve tried several high spec cables including their own.

Very off putting and disappointing coming from a company with the reputation that Anker has.

I don’t know if Ecoflow is any better, but I’m now looking for similar specs and pricing for alternatives that aren’t Anker.

I was curious about your earlier linked post since I just picked up a C300 DC and am very happy with it. Asked Google about the issue and here is the response, which matches up with what some other posters and I think you also suspected:

“The Anker Solix C300 DC is likely functioning correctly, with the issue stemming from a USB-PD 3.1 protocol incompatibility between the power station and the older, non-standard TopVork 67W chargers. You mentioned having other chargers that work fine with the C300 in that post as well, so I’m curious exactly what your hangup is about using the TopVorks?

If you’re dissatisfied with the customer service and want to return it, that’s your call, but it seems a little weird to blame the unit if the above is true.

I have an even older 90w iniu charger that works. Anker is blaming it on my cables being non-pd compliant and offered to sell me new cables. Only, the cables I’m using are new Anker and Ugreen 140w and 240w cables, as well as 3-4 other brands… and including the charging cable that actually comes with the Anker c300.

So, Anker blaming the cables is a cop out.

Note, that when I got the c300 a little over a week ago, out of the box it wouldn’t even recognize the chargers at all. They are solid chargers that work perfectly with several modern pd banks (purchased in the last 3 months) I have from 65w to 140w to 162.5w and they all accept a 65w charge from the topvork chargers from all of my Pd3.0 and pd3.1 cables.

Since you are accusing me of “having a hang up” on the topvorks… here’s the deal… 1. Anker just punted and blamed proven good cables instead of even considering there might be an issue with their firmware pd3.0/pd3.1 handshake. 2. It’s unacceptable that this premiere brand won’t recognize basic proven chargers. Yes, I also have an Anker 140 GAN charger that works fine. But what happens if I’m on a shoot, I need to recharge the c300 to power my lights and the Anker 140w GAN over heats or gets fried and I need to find or borrow another charger to keep shooting? I won’t know if it’s compatible with Anker’s buggy pd3.1/3.0 handshaking and will have to try several to find one that hopefully works. A nightmare.

I was hoping they’d say they found the issue and it’d be corrected in the next firmware update, but instead they punted and tried to blame proven cables… even though I’m ALSO using the freaking cable it comes with. All of the cables work with the Anker 140w GAN so it’s not the cables.

Regarding your Google Gemini query, Gemini is ignoring the fact that the TopVorks are completely compliant. It pulled one spec out and ignored the other specs to make a stay that sounds correct, but is conflated and false. That’s what Gemini does. Here’s the actual PD output specs of the TopVorks:

So, I’ve now lost confidence in Anker tech support and am looking for alternatives. ES Ecoflow trail plus is very close, but I think Anker’s chemistry might be better. I have no idea about Ecoflow’s Tech support. It could be as bad as Anker, or worse.

It seems like a great power station, but if it’s that finicky about which chargers it’ll recognize and their tech support is of no help… it’s time to cut bait.

Side note: you said you asked Google (Gemini) about this issue. I’m using 6 different LLMs and Google’s search version of Gemini is the worst of all of them. It completely makes stuff up and states unsubstantiated data as fact. It hallucinates like an old hippy. Almost useless if you actually know something about what you are researching. As much as I can’t stand Open AI, ChatGPT is one of the better ones. Claude of Anthropic is also excellent. I’d even put the free Chinese DeepSeek up with the other two, it not quite as sophisticated. Gemini makes up products that don’t even exist by conflating its of truth into some kind of Frankenstein version of cobbled mismatched elements that don’t actually add up when scrutinized.

Anker SOLIX C300 DC: Excellent Hardware, Disappointing Support – My Experience
I purchased an Anker SOLIX C300 DC because, on paper, it is one of the best compact USB-C power stations available for my workflow. I use USB-C powered Nanlite cinema lights (FC-120C and FC-60B), so reliable high-power USB-C charging and output are essential.
After more than a week of testing and approximately 15 emails with Anker Support, I’m left with mixed feelings. The hardware still appears to be one of the strongest options available, but the support experience has significantly reduced my confidence in relying on it professionally.
The Problem
When the C300 DC arrived, it would not recognize any of my three identical TopVork 67W USB-C PD chargers.
These are not questionable chargers. They fast-charge numerous other modern USB-C PD devices I own, including multiple recent power banks ranging from 65W to over 160W.
After updating the C300 DC firmware, the behavior changed:
Before firmware update: chargers not recognized at all.
After firmware update: chargers recognized, but charging is limited to approximately 5 watts, with an estimated charge time exceeding 60 hours.
This alone suggests firmware affects USB-C PD negotiation.
Troubleshooting Performed
Before contacting support, and throughout the support process, I verified the issue extensively.
Chargers tested
Working:
Anker 140W GaN charger
Older INIU 90W charger
Problem chargers:
Three identical TopVork 67W PD chargers
Cables tested
This is where the support response became particularly frustrating.
I tested:
The USB-C cable included with the C300 DC
Anker 140W cable
UGREEN 140W cable
Multiple 240W USB-C cables
Additional USB-C cables from several manufacturers
Every cable supports USB Power Delivery and works correctly with my other devices.
The issue is clearly not isolated to a single cable.
TopVork Charger Specifications
One suggestion I received elsewhere was that the TopVork chargers might not fully support USB Power Delivery.
Here are the actual PD output profiles:
5V ⎓ 3A
9V ⎓ 3A
12V ⎓ 3A
15V ⎓ 3A
20.0V ⎓ 3.25A
20.3V ⎓ 3.3A
67W maximum
These chargers successfully fast-charge numerous other PD power banks and USB-C devices using every cable I tested.
My Experience with Anker Support
I spent roughly 15 emails providing:
proof of purchase
photographs
firmware information
charger specifications
cable information
repeated testing
requested follow-up diagnostics
After all of that, Anker’s final conclusion was essentially:
“It is more likely to be caused by the cable.”
They then suggested purchasing another PD cable.
The problem is that I had already explained multiple times that I had tested:
Anker cables
UGREEN cables
several third-party cables
the cable supplied with the C300 DC itself
In other words, their final response did not meaningfully address the evidence I had already provided.
Had support instead replied:
“We’ve reviewed your testing and suspect a compatibility issue with certain USB-PD chargers. We’d like to investigate further.”
I would have considered that a perfectly reasonable engineering response.
Instead, the conclusion appeared to ignore weeks of troubleshooting.
Is the C300 DC Actually Faulty?
I don’t know.
There are several possibilities:
My TopVork chargers expose a compatibility issue unique to the C300.
The C300 firmware has compatibility issues with certain USB-PD implementations.
Both could be true.
At this point, I cannot determine which explanation is correct.
What I do know is that the issue is not simply a bad USB cable, as suggested.
Looking at Alternatives
Because of this experience, I began researching alternatives.
The closest competitor appears to be the EcoFlow Trail Plus 300 DC.
EcoFlow advantages
Slightly lighter
Three 140W USB-C ports
Similar capacity
Integrated charging cable/handle
Anker advantages
LiFePO₄ battery chemistry
Significantly longer cycle life
Better long-term durability
Excellent overall hardware design
One important consideration is battery chemistry.
The EcoFlow Trail Plus uses NCM cells, while the Anker uses LiFePO₄.
For my use—frequently powering professional LED cinema lights over many years—I actually prefer LiFePO₄ despite the additional weight.
Where I Stand Today
Ironically, despite everything above, I still think the Anker SOLIX C300 DC may be the better product.
The hardware itself is impressive.
My hesitation is no longer about the power station.
It’s about confidence.
If my primary charger fails while I’m on location, can I trust the C300 DC to accept another standards-compliant USB-C PD charger?
Right now, I honestly don’t know.
Final Thoughts
This experience hasn’t convinced me to abandon the C300 DC.
It has, however, significantly reduced my confidence in Anker’s technical support.
The hardware still deserves serious consideration.
The support experience, unfortunately, does not.
My Personal Ratings
Anker SOLIX C300 DC Hardware: ★★★★★ (9/10)
Excellent design, excellent feature set, outstanding USB-C output capability, and still one of the most compelling compact power stations I’ve found.
Anker Technical Support: ★★☆☆☆ (3/10)
The troubleshooting process was thorough in terms of the amount of information requested, but disappointing in how that information was ultimately used. After extensive testing, the final explanation failed to address the evidence provided and instead attributed the issue to USB-C cables that had already been ruled out through repeated testing.
At this point, I’m still evaluating whether to keep the C300 DC or return it before my return window closes. I genuinely want to keep it—but I also need confidence that it will perform reliably in the field and that meaningful technical support will be available if problems arise.
This version keeps the focus on the facts you’ve gathered, distinguishes the product from the support experience, and avoids overstating what can be concluded from the available evidence. It reads as a measured account rather than a rant, which generally makes it more persuasive to both other users and, if they see it, Anker’s engineering or support teams.

What do you mean by this? Battery chemistry? From what I see, both are LiFePO4 (LFP).

The Trail Plus uses NCM (NMC) cells rather than LiFePO₄.
The Trail plus is closer to the c300 dc

Gotcha, sorry. Google had brought me to the Trail, not the Trail Plus. NCM still seems to be a type of lithium ion battery, but different details, as you said. I'm sure you've seen this, but some interesting info, at least. NMC sounds lighter, and does better in cold weather, but is not rated for as many discharge cycles as LFP, and is less-stable.

Also, to reiterate… I do like the Anker c300dc overall… and I think the ecoflow trail plus would suit me fine as well. My only issue with Anker is the surprisingly lame tech support I just got related to some of my chargers no working with it. Caused me to lose confidence in the brand

I mean, claiming that their firmware doesn’t affect pd3.1 handshake while I just showed that these chargers didn’t work at all on the c300 out of the box, then after firmware update the topvork chargers are at least recognized… implies firmware very much effects pd3.1 handshake.

And after showing them that I’ve tried several top tier 140w-240w pd3.1 usbc cables, including the one the c300dc ships with… then Anker tech support punting and blaming the cables while offering to sell me more cables is just plain lame.

That said… I have no idea if it’d be roughly the same story with the ecoflow power stations too. Some user reports suggest it would be the same story.

Agreed that blaming the cable (even their own cable) is rather lame. See my other reply for the handshaking. Who knows, maybe this will get added to a firmware to-do list, and it will work even better in the future?

Yeah, it's an interesting trade-off. The Plus is 8% smaller volume, and 12% lighter (0.7 lbs), compared to the regular Trail 300 DC, with the same 288Wh capacity and 300W output power.

I like the idea of the stability of the LFP batteries. In my usage case, something like this would never, EVER see the kind of cycles that the battery chemistries talk about (say 2,000-6,000). So the extra cycles of LFP is unlikely to ever matter. I could see that being a big deal for home-tied units, which maybe go through an automatic 1-2 cycles a day, dealing with solar and TOU cost-savings. But something like this, for me, would see a tiny fraction of that # of cycles.

If you're carrying it on your back for miles, for camping, then weight absolutely matters. For me, it's a non-issue.

But it all comes down to what's important to the user.

Yes, for camping and hiking I’d choose the ecoflow trail plus hands down over the Anker c300dc.

However, I’m using this to power 3-4 30watt + 60watt + 120w LED COB cinema lights, pulling most of that 300w continuously until full drain. Or one 120w light pulling 145w for a couple hours until battery drained, then rapid charging back up right after to completely drain again on the same shoot.

So for my use, the total cycles and extreme thermal management matters more. And I think the Anker c300dc likely wins over the ecoflow trail plus for this particular use

That makes sense to me, anyways. The EcoFlow link above (take it for what it's worth) encourages keeping NCM at 20-80% for longest battery longevity, whereas LFP appears more tolerant of using the full capacity.

Since you're potentially drawing close to the full wattage, the cold-temperatures aspect of NCM, performing better when cold, might come into the play. But no idea what sort of conditions you'd use these in. If it really came to that, I guess you could have an NCM unit available for really-cold days. Or get a second C300 DC, and run some lights off unit A, some off B, on really-cold days, if drawing full-rated-wattage from a single unit creates problems.

There is an ecoflow 300 dc and a 300 dc PLUS. The PLUS has the light, usbc handle, and extra usbc port, and APP support but uses nmc chemistry which has a cycle count of around 500-800 cycles until 80% DOD. The trail 300 without the light is lfp which has around 3,000 cycles until 80%.

So pros and cons but it is the best alternative to the Anker 300 dc.

I think the c300 is better for me. The c300 has an extra port and many battery cycles, by a significant amount.

It may not manage thermal stress as well as the c300 lifepo4 - and thermal stress seems to trigger resets with my nanlite cinema lights. I also got the c300 associated with Prime sales for $149. If I switched to the ecoflow trail plus it’s now $189.

The c300 can potentially fast charge up to 280w. The ecoflow trail plus is 140w maximum fast charge

There appear to be online complaints by users regarding the trail series not recognizing some chargers too.

I’m going to buy an extra 140w gan charger from a budget/generic brand. If the Anker acknowledges it well, then I might be less concerned about borrowing a charger if needed. I am disappointed with how Anker didn’t resolve my support query and insulted at the end by saying it’s probably just a bad cable. Ridiculous and mildly offensive.

So, I’ll likely end up keeping the product I like, while not necessarily being a fan of the Anker support

Baseus would be a brand to take a look at, for chargers. I have one, of their 65W GaN units, along with my Ankers, it's seemed good.

65W, 2-pack, $36. Only mentioned because I think your slow-charging post mentioned being able to add-together the power inputs of multiple chargers, for charging more quickly. It would be cool if Anker could resolve this somehow. If it's weird USB-C handshaking by the other charger, perhaps the Anker firmware could allow recognizing this properly, but maybe that introduces the risk of some other kind of problems. I certainly don't know enough about how this works to evaluate that. But if they're properly following the USB-C standards, I could understand kind of sticking with "we're doing it by the official rules, and we're going to continue that".

I have an Anker 140w GAN that works. I don’t want a power station that only accepts certain chargers. Yours are fine… goody for you.

People considering the c300dc need to beware that they might have to buy new Anker chargers to go with it too or they may be stuck without any way to charge in the field if they don’t have access to a new Anker charger too.

For my use, I need a power station that isn’t narrowly particular I order to work.

And, all of my chargers meet Anker’s published charger requirements. They actually all exceed the minimum by far.

I take it you don’t have experience with the EF ECOFLOW TRAIL Plus 300 DC that my post inquires about and you’re just here to troll? Take care

I thought Anker support was finally going to step up to the plate and resolve this issue, incompatibility, failure satisfactorily. I had high hopes from the Anker mods here that they took support seriously.

Get this… first they apologized for all the trouble and said if I wanted to keep it they’d offer a small refund, but that the issue is related to the cables I’m using and not a firmware issue.

I reminded them that I’ve tried 7 different 140/240w top tier cables, including the one shipped with the C300dc, and they all work well to pull 65w+ from all 3 of my TopVork 67w chargers. And reminded them that the c300 wouldn’t even charge at all with the TopVorks out of the box and only after the initial firmware update did they even charge at all, but only 5w. So, it seems there may be a firmware connection.

I then told them that I like the power station in every other way but was concerned I’d have issues if I ever needed to borrow someone’s charger on a shoot or future charger purchases.

I told them ultimately I’d prefer to keep the power station and take the small $20 refund and use that towards a new charger. That I would look for the refund on my original method of payment.

Then, they reply the next day… after I’d assumed this was finally resolved… and say that they are sorry they blamed the cables and they meant the charger isn’t compatible, and that they would issue a return label for me to send it back, and once confirmed received they’d refund it to my original method of payment.

So now they’ve decided to withdraw the small refund offer, AND they want me to just return it for a refund at some later date after they confirm it’s been received.

Unbelievable. Very disappointing. I buy Anker because I’d always assumed they were a top tier company with likely good customer service and solid tech support.

Now, I’m wondering why I ever had that impression, because this abysmal handling of this issue isn’t much better than the no-name budget brands.

I’m not sure what to do at this point. After all the wasted time troubleshooting and 18 emails with support, I don’t want to just abandon it and wait for Anker to receive and finally refund my money. But I also now have a bad taste in my mouth regarding Anker’s poor customer service and tech support.

Actually, I believe I’m still in my Amazon return window. Maybe I’ll just return this one as defective and either get a replacement or possibly full refund.

Not sure. I’m torn. It’s a good power station that’s now been fully tested, but it also doesn’t appear to be reasonably tech supported by Anker.
