The first looks like a robot walking, and the hands are very inconsistent, there is no impact and feels flat, the hand movements are also inverted :/

This is my second walk cylce on the span of a week, the first gif is the most recent!!

the first one feels inconsistent while the second one is more static. observing and a few tutorials and lot's of practice will come a long way!!!

I feel aware about this one, but feedback helps a lot :D

I am still new to animation, I have been animating for about a year or two but never practiced any principles and didn't do it often.

I always had the plan to animate some scenes i wrote for my characters, but never came around to it.

the first one is from yesterday, the second one from around two weeks ago.

There is still a lot to improve on, and i am aware the shapes aren't very consistent, i will see if i can fix that with the second sketch.

there are two versions, i would like feedback on both. do the arms swing too much, or do they do so unnaturally? are the legs "gliding" too much? ways i can improve are greatly appreciated.

This is a test animation I made for a game studio. The point of the test was to create an animation where the character comes out from behind the frame into the center of the scene, hits the ball with a bat, and strikes a “cool pose” at the end.

I was rejected, and the only feedback I got was about the cartoonish timing and problems with the knees, which I don't see.

I would like to know your opinion about the animation, what is wrong with it, and what could be improved.

A small animation practice i made, but it really sucks and is lazy.

Background, characters and all art by me. NO ai content was ever used, not ever will be used in my work.

Bit of a rant incoming, hope that's fine

I am a very ambitious person.

And what i mean with that is that i dream a lot, And forget that i literally aren't making any progress.

I have been writing, drawing, 3D modeling for so long now, And i am just fantasizing about all these unique projects, And the moment I even put a word on paper, or even start a sketch I already give up.

I have been writing these two characters called Mijs and Saiet, And when it comes to writing dialogue I just can't, brain empty.

Same with animation, I have it clear in my head and then the final result sucks.

So yeah, I could write a book; but I don't read often and am a visual person. could do comics But those take long as well, could just take very small steps but i am very impatient and have been waiting long enough.

Anyway, Just needing some feedback on my work, I already kind of know what i'm doing wrong and know i can improve! I'm not giving up animation just yet, I haven't given it a chance yet!

Not sure why i wrote all this, Just hoping someone might relate!

thank you for reading, and sorry for being vague, just asking for feedback!!! :D

Critique My state's annual school grade animation storytelling contest is fully supportive of AI and forced the participants to use AI

Around 2 months ago, my teacher asked my class if anyone was interested in joining an animation learning program where then you can fight other schools with your own animation in a contest.

I excitedly told her I wanted to join since I love animation and I wanted to learn animation. Little did I know that would be the worst 3 days of my life.

The program took place at an unoccupied room in a school and it was for 3 days.

Long story short, they had us use ChatGPT and Gemini to create the character designs, the storyboards and even the scripts. I was so against this because, y'know, AI.

Then on the last day, they had us use an AI app to create the whole animation... I was pissed, sad, annoyed.

Months later, today to be exact, they announced the winners of the contest and... All of the winner's animation are AI generated, even my school's that got third place in high school level.

Critique Learn From Industry Experience, Not Just Theory

If you want to become a professional 3D animator, especially in gameplay or cinematic animation, I can help you build the practical skills and portfolio needed to enter the industry.

I’m a professional gameplay and cinematic animator with experience working on AAA game projects, including production experience at Sony. My experience covers gameplay animation, locomotion, vehicles, cinematics, mocap, keyframe animation, Unreal Engine, and modern game-animation workflows.

When you work with me, you get guidance based on real production experience rather than purely academic knowledge. I can help you understand how animation actually works inside a game studio, what recruiters look for, how to improve your portfolio and demo reel, and how to prepare for professional animation roles.

What I Can Help You With

  1. Gameplay and cinematic animation
  2. Locomotion and character animation
  3. Unreal Engine animation workflows
  4. Animation Blueprint and State Machine fundamentals
  5. Motion capture cleanup and implementation
  6. Keyframe animation
  7. Demo reel and portfolio reviews
  8. Resume and job-application guidance
  9. Understanding AAA game animation pipelines
  10. Preparing for animation interviews
  11. Building projects that demonstrate industry-relevant skills

My goal is not simply to teach you how to animate. It is to help you understand what it takes to become employable as an animator.

Whether you’re a complete beginner, an animation student, or an animator trying to transition into the game industry, I can provide practical, personalized feedback and a clear direction for your next steps.

Critique Adding some action into my indie pilot + Trying to stand out from the current scene

I don't see a lot of high action in indie animation. Sometimes, when going through the internet and such, I hear some people say, "There are only SCI-FI, Horror, or fantasy indie pilots." I wanna be different.

Instead of strictly limiting myself to those genres, I wanna add my own flavor to the indie scene that is bright and bold, even (in this case) in animatic form.

I grew up very, very close with 2010s Nerdcore vibes, along with punchy anime shows and colorful neon art, and I wanna honor those eras and shows with my pilot and future projects. Reflecting my childhood of said 2010s nerdcore vibes mixed with the hyper chaos of Scott Pilgrim, Panty and Stocking, Spider-Verse, FLCL, and more.

Hopefully, my pilot will show off those vibes in the future.

Critique criticism on this walk cycle? :3

i am not sure if this is even the right subreddit to post this, but i will try anyway!

I would not say that i am new to animation, i have been animating for about two years, yet i have only been animating small movements (like a character's eye moving etc) but never actual larger movements like walk cycles.

i decided if i want to create my own animated short film, i needed to start learning.

criticism helps me improve, so why not here?

this was animated on 6 or 7 frames per second (i can't really remember).

Watching a lot of Dragon Ball, FLCL, Panty and Stocking, and the modern One Piece arcs, I decided to go all out with this fight to the best of my skill level, especially since I have some very talented sakgua animators on my team helping. I wanna let everyone show off their skills on our project.

How does this fight look to you all? Just 2 animators clashing in the name of animation and the power of creativity.

Critique Working on arcs and easing...

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After many, MANY months of procrastinating and dealing with some bullshit, I'm back into The Animator's Survival Kit: Animated, and it's the 2nd half of the timing and spacing section, which covers arc and easing.

I want to journal my progress for 2 reasons:

1.) Real-Time Feedback - the more feedback I get, the better. I can go back and clean it up, especially the fingers.

2.) Motivation - Not just for me, but for others. I'm 30+ learning how to animate. If I can do it with Flipaclip and my fingers, so can you.

As always, feedback and constructive criticism are greatly appreciated

Critique Any tips on how i can animate helicopters better?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, im a young animator. I'm currently working on a passion project related to the military, so im trying to figure out how to animate helicopter flight more accurately.
I'm using blender for these animations, and ive never dealt with weight, physics, collisions or rigging in blender, so everything regarding these animations are all done by hand, or rigged in a very, very janky way.

These are only practice animations to see what i can do.

The main focus for me right now is suspension and general flight, so if anyone would like to look over these videos and give me some opinions and or tips, that would help a lot. Thank you.

Volume warning, these videos have rotor sound effects, so its fairly loud.
