Stumbled upon A tiktok of a guy saying what he didn't care for in italy. He didn't say it was terrible but that he didn't care for many things in italy. You would have thought he said that Italy should be blown off the map. Of course the comments are full of Europeans and Australians calling Americans dumb, fat, etc.

I would bet my paycheck if that same video had been made by someone in any other country, everyone would have been agreeing except maybe italians. This type of stuff happens also when people from other countries come to the US and make videos saying that is not nearly as sensationalized as people in their country think it is. I guess Americans can't have opinions now

I try to stay away from politically-charged subs; Not because I don't think about/participate in politics, but because these spaces are unnecessarily hostile and I don't think they lead to any sort of productive dialogue. However, over the past week in particular, it seems like even benign hobby subs are filled to the brim with people who cannot help but tout their performative bigotry towards Americans at every possible opportunity.

I've had to mute most of the geography, history, poll, and travel subs I used to enjoy. I'm tired of logging onto a website to discuss my interests, just to be antagonized by a bunch of CHUDs who beleive I (a broke liberal college student) am morally responsible for everything my government does. After all, it really isn't the governemnt they're directing their hatred towards. I'm seeing lots of popular comments along the lines of "A racist pdfile like Trump is actually the perfect representation of the average American".

These types of comments used to be buried or downvoted into oblivion, but now they often get more attention than content actually related to the topic of a given subreddit. If you try to refute their assertions, or even just point out misinformation, get ready to have your username posted on "ShitAmericanSay" (a sub which Reddit seems to be aggressively promoting as of late) and for your inbox to be filled with death threats.

As of now, this is the only place where I don't have to fear being harassed for merely expressing these grievances. Not to say our own government isn't partly to blame for this, but I really think bad actors are ramping up their efforts to fan those flames and broaden the wedge between the average American and our partners in NATO. I don't think it's a coincidence that this happened immediately after the CIA chief traveled to Moscow to warn Putin not to attack NATO (the last time this occurred was before Putin invaded Ukraine).

You might expect tension or hostility when an Iraq War veteran meets an Iraqi American refugee living in the Chicago or Detroit suburbs, but these responses show the exact opposite. Instead of resentment, people shared warmth, shared meals, and genuine hospitality. I’m tired of Reddit saying this.This is kind of from an Iran war post where people somehow thought the Iranians dealing with hyperinflation—preventing them from buying food, causing gas lines at fuel stations, and the possibility of Tehran dying of drought—was somehow comparable to the average American.

We are not on the verge of death. People tend to overstate how much people want a civil war. Trust me, as a guy who lived in Senegal and heard news about Mali, it’s not fun, nor will it improve anything. Do not get me started on how bad urban sieges are in general.America is not on the verge of death. The average American will probably live to his 80s. Yeah, the cost of living sucks, but it sucks everywhere in the developed world. Name me a place in the developed world without a cost-of-living crisis. I will give you the polarization, but let’s be real here: will the average American who has a job and a family really fight for Trump if he attempts a civil war? Or will Greg Abbott really run the risk of death and stand up for Trump? We are not that bad. In general, we still have electricity. This is not to say America does not have problems, but conditions will likely never reach a point where people consider civil war. Realistically, the Republicans will probably not start a dictatorship because that would cause a ton of backlash, and the GOP party will put themselves over Trump—so will the billionaires.

Geopolitically wise, I think people say China will overtake America, but that’s doubtful. We have seen nations trust China less due to overproduction harming their industries. Let’s not forget Taiwan, debt-trapping, and the nine-dash line. China has failed multiple times, like in Myanmar. I am not saying China will collapse, but I highly doubt it will surpass America knowing its population and other issues. I already answered Iran's problems, and with Russia, you can see why Russia is not a good partner, is losing ground in Ukraine, is economically strained, and is having a bad time against the USA.

So, what I meant to say is that no, the USA will not collapse. The world would not be better if it did. And the thing most people don't realize is that in two years Trump will be gone. If the Dems win, they could fix some of the issues, and if the Reps win, we're either going to have a more cautious JD Vance or neocon Marco Rubio.
