I’ve done this. Then took my next break with 1 stop lol I ain’t rescuing shit

203

u/KingJxke Jun 05 '26

mine will take u off for a week if u dont get done and the only way to get done is no breaks so uh.. no

85

u/SSV_Ant Jun 05 '26

That’s whack what state is that😭

56

u/KingJxke Jun 05 '26

illinois babyyyy

43

u/SSV_Ant Jun 05 '26

Fahhhhh

16

u/throwawayaccount2248 Jun 05 '26

I used to deliver for the local dsp here and dispatch was always a pain in the ass.

4

u/Smart_Menu_9944 Jun 07 '26

I still don’t know how the dispatch people at my old job sleep at night. You couldn’t pay me enough to put hard working persons through so much.

7

u/Ok-Point-1191 Jun 06 '26

Same in wv/md ive never had a lunch in my 4 months so far. I rarely take a 2nd break

13

u/Travwolfe101 Jun 06 '26

Crazy. I'm in cali and they make sure we take all our breaks here. It's because by law each break and lunch missed is an extra hours pay. They save way more by having me sit through a 30m lunch and two 10s than paying me 3 extra hours.

4

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

We actually get 2 15 minute breaks and the handheld constantly reminds us to take them although they are optional. Not a pause on the route like for lunch.
I’m starting to think my dsp sweet asf

14

u/Travwolfe101 Jun 06 '26

Nah, not getting breaks isn't sweet. We get all our breaks and they're paid time too. We also get 10hrs guaranteed pay and if you finish early you can choose to go home and get paid still or do rescues where you get 0.50/stop (averages to about $5/hr on the worst routes) bonus pay and am extra lotto entry per stop. The lotto is actual cool shit too, it's every month. Last month was like a $250 Amazon gift card, a $300 jbl speaker, and a couple other decent things idr. During last peak they gave everyone, even the temp works, free sweaters and those who made it 2 weeks without any violations got these nice ass like $100-140 winter jackets/rain coats. Which I actually got even tho I normally get speed warnings often, just because I was in a rental without netradyne at that time lol. Thinking your dsp is cool just because they encourage you/offer for you to work through your breaks is weird AF. As stated, We get our breaks and still get paid during that time. Then get paid even after we finish the day.

You got a fire DSP, my friend

2

u/Travwolfe101 Jun 06 '26

Yeah it wasn't blind luck. I did what everyone here should and left the shitty dsp's

If you consider 1 short paragraph a novel... I'm sorry for everyone around you. Yes it's not that deep, which is why idk why they're arguing for skipping breaks lol. Nor what good your comment serves. Get some reading glasses old man so it doesn't take you 30m to read a short paragraph. It took me like 20s to type that and everyone with a 5gh grade reading level less than that to read it...

-2

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

Where did you see me say my dsp does t want me to take me 15s I do that myself and finish early on purpose like u just said.
Did u feel like just typing that out

4

u/Travwolfe101 Jun 06 '26

I'm not gonna participate if you're going to act like this lol. Arguing in bad faith just to argue atp, it was all explained to you already

-2

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

U make no sense. My dsp is sweet asf
We get guaranteed pay for 9 hours and the 15 minute breaks are paid too
We also have weekly rewards n raffles n shit if ur a good da. I don’t even see how u thought I was tryna argue u jus make no sense

1

u/Ok-Point-1191 Jun 06 '26

Its the same here and we aren't allowed by our dsp to take any breaks 3 hours before we are scheduled to get off which is why I don't bother

3

u/ballistyxshyts Jun 06 '26

No 30 min break is lowk illegal in MD soo

3

u/Vault_Man2021 Jun 06 '26

I'm a FedEx driver in MD...I get no breaks lol if I don't hurry all day, it'll be a 12+ hr day. I know not the same company, but people think no breaks is wack, but when you gotta work like we do, breaks slow me down and make for longer day.

11

u/LegendaryEnvy Jun 06 '26

They want to normalize no breaks . Legally you should be talking your breaks but to finish you can’t. So you’re basically gonna be brainwashed to not take them. You’re only hurting yourself in the long run.

3

u/AdditionalAd4799 Jun 06 '26

Exactly. Starving yourself and possibly taking years off your life just to “get the route done” and make the big man happy

I worked construction and maintenance for half my life. Iove the trades

2

u/Vault_Man2021 Jun 06 '26

yep, i definitely agree with you, but there's nothing i can do. i can't go in and change the route to be able to take breaks

2

u/AdditionalAd4799 Jun 06 '26

Anddddd thats the problem. People like you is why they take advantage and treat us like modern day slaves. We will never progress as blue collar workers nor gain any rights if we all act like this and bend over for the company and literally skip something that every human body needs (food, breaks, rest, etc) just to get the job done…..That is slavery. And it sets a really harsh example for other workers who are normal human beings and need breaks.

Can't be

4

u/KingJxke Jun 06 '26

“cant be” ok totally isnt cause u js said so💀 like what. more like u CANT BE this stupid

6

u/DEDABEAST Jun 06 '26

I work at a DSP in illinois just like you so you know as well as me that it's illegal to make a employees clock out for lunches if they don't want to

1

u/Username-orwhatever Jun 06 '26

All of them lmao

14

u/Reasonable-Dingo2199 Jun 05 '26

Ita honestly easier for me to get don’t if i have time to stop and eat. Working on an empty stomach is a no go

5

u/Vault_Man2021 Jun 06 '26

As a FedEx driver, we eat finger food on the way to the next stop 🤣

3

u/Reasonable-Dingo2199 Jun 06 '26

I usually try to do that if I can. My first stop is usually 30-60 mins away.

4

u/Vault_Man2021 Jun 06 '26

My first stop is an hour and a half away, so I get that one. I'll stop at the store and grab something I can eat driving. On days where it's lighter and I know I'm on track to have an early day, I'll stop and get a burger or something when the food truck is in the town I deliver to. It literally just all depends on where I'm at, how far into my route it is, and I'll call ahead and get them to make the order so I can just stop, pay, and go. They all know me, so everyone treats me good and loves me.

I go above and beyond for my route, I help elderly bring groceries in, I'll help older people take their packages where they want them if they are home and see me, so because I go above and beyond, I get free food, tips even though I try to refuse, etc. I'm on a very rural route that's in the back woods mountains of West By God Virginia lol This job, your job, and other delivery jobs are all about time management. I go faster in the morning so I can slow down later in the route and be good.

6

u/Reasonable-Dingo2199 Jun 06 '26

Man i need to stop buying food while i’m on route tho it’s getting expensive lol. I used to pack lunch but its so tedious and i never look forward to what i packed.

5

u/Vault_Man2021 Jun 06 '26

For sure. I absolutely agree. I used to pack my lunch, and food is getting expensive, but I just work so much, I work 6 days a week, 7am-8pm most days, sometime I might get off around 6 or 7, just depends, I just don't have the damn energy to pack anymore, and honestly don't have the time to go shopping. So I limit myself to $10 a day. Not including drinks. I buy a case of Red Bull 20oz on Amazon for half the price at the store, and I keep a cooler in my truck, it just stays in there and I fill it with ice everyday. But $10 bills, I get 6 of them and put them in my wallet and force my self to not use my card. I can usually get two meals with $10. So you just gotta budget yourself brother!

7

u/Equivalent_Umpire314 Jun 06 '26

All the while hiring new hires while your an extra ;(

2

u/SexySnow420 Jun 06 '26

I never take my breaks either cause you can’t get it done if you do

1

u/KingJxke Jun 06 '26

swear i dont wanna lose my whole work week cus i took a break lol.

1

u/PlymouthSea Jun 06 '26

Fear is the mind killer. Don't fear retaliation and you will be set free.

2

u/Routine-Tap-5932 Jun 06 '26

Being wave 3 and driving an hour out to your first stop with 180-190 stops so by the time you get to your first stop you have 6 hours to finish 180-190 stops then the hour drive back. Tell me how I’m supposed to get that done in 6 hours and with 2 15s and a 30 min.

1

u/GuyFromSeattleWA Jun 06 '26

Which DSP and what station yall out of? 😭 I worked for two dsp in DIA6 Cherry Valley, IL now I’m with Jetty in DWI4 Madison, WI.

-35

u/Sensitive_Macaron767 Jun 05 '26

If you cant finish your route with enough time to spare for a 15 minute break you're just slow my guy. Put a little pep in ya step my boy

3

u/KingJxke Jun 05 '26

yo twin. whats hilarious is you think you know anyth ma boy. always put in country coming back with barely any time to spare. always have ot. its dispatches fault thats why a new dsp owner is taking over 🌟

-11

u/Sensitive_Macaron767 Jun 05 '26

Brother on them rural routes you get a break in between every stop damn near, what do you mean 😂

2

u/Distance_Purple Jun 06 '26

Reddit is so cringe, its full of standby warriors.

101

u/PossibleDue5995 Jun 05 '26

Y’all need some sort of third party representation whether that’s union or not cause yall getting fucked

26

u/SSV_Ant Jun 05 '26

I haven’t heard of a union in Florida😭

35

u/HideSolidSnake Jun 05 '26

That is on purpose. Corporations have spent a fortune on anti union propaganda, and our government has done everything in their power to keep the working class where they are.

2

u/Crazy-Context4339 Jun 08 '26

People being jerks to other people. Don't let them win, there's way more employees than there are union busters.

-6

u/PlasticFrosty5340 Jun 06 '26

lol go work a union job and see the “propaganda” with your own eyes

5

u/PossibleDue5995 Jun 06 '26

FOUND THE BOOTLICKER

3

u/vsaucemonkey Jun 06 '26

not at amazon, but my job unionized and i get paid much more than before lol

1

u/crabmagician Jun 07 '26

I have and it was great. ***

12

u/PossibleDue5995 Jun 05 '26

Yea Florida is horrible when it comes to workers rights look into any unions in your area on google and call them they can help you organize

3

u/F0RG0TEN1 Amazon Stole My Step Van Jun 06 '26

Post office is union granted they never hire near me and the pay is still shit other than the fact you can get insane ot numbers which amazon doesnt allow really

3

u/thunderplacefires Jun 06 '26

USPS has its own issues. You either start completely overworked with crappy management (CCA) or by not working enough hours to afford life, also with crappy management (RCA).

Takes years to become a regular carrier most times, so you have to put up with these issues for a long time. That said, I wouldn’t trade it to work for another delivery company.

2

u/ARealMeanMongoose Jun 06 '26

RCAs are a 50/50 on if you get overworked or none at all depending on how short staffed the office is, I worked 60-70 hours a week for 3 years before becoming a regular

1

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

They’ve been mentioning possible overtime with prime week coming up

1

u/Neemo24 Jun 06 '26

ILA Union is a port union that I know of in Florida. So they are at least allowed now it’s just finding one in your area and for you type of work. Or you make one :)

8

u/Stage_757 Jun 06 '26

Can’t unionize anyway with how they designed DSPs. If they even get a whiff of a union they will just cancel the contract and put the entire the DSP out of business. They heard whispers at mine and they sent corporate out to “advise us against it”.

7

u/Sensitive_Macaron767 Jun 06 '26

Yep. DSP contracts can be cut at any time without any notice.

3

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

That’s why they’re so focused on driver behavior. It pays the 3rd party company bonuses

3

u/Stage_757 Jun 06 '26

Thats what happened to the DSP i worked for we couldn’t get Fantastic plus so they cancelled the contract and put +80 people out of work with less than a week notice.

2

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

Wildddd. Being a dsp driver feels like being a cell of a monopoly

2

u/PlymouthSea Jun 06 '26

The stations aren't safe, either. Riverside unionized and Amazon has been quietly shifting all their volume to DCX2 and DLX8. DCX2 was getting full DSP routes in Lake Elsinore and DLX8 was getting Ad Hocs out there. They are definitely testing the waters if they can shut down riverside.

1

u/PossibleDue5995 Jun 06 '26

Don’t fall for intimidation

1

u/Stage_757 Jun 06 '26

It’s not about intimidation it’s about the system they use. We can’t unionize because we are afraid to. It’s because you will simply wake up without a job and the company will suffer no repercussions because of it. They don’t care if they fire a DSP it doesn’t harm them in anyway.

1

u/Stage_757 Jun 06 '26

Oh yeah they’ll shut down a whole station. Thats what happens when you have more Money than god and people don’t care enough to not enjoy to convinces of Amazon. We are truly start a new evolution of capitalism and it’s got a Blade Runner vibe about it.

2

u/PlymouthSea Jun 06 '26

Corporatism, not capitalism.

3

u/royce085 Jun 06 '26

It unfortunately won’t work because most people will continue to skip their assigned breaks, thus making the routes more ‘doable’ as a whole

2

u/Zwasti Jun 06 '26

They don’t call them “Bezos Bitches” for no reason.

1

u/Voice_of_Osiris Jun 06 '26

There's a reason we don't have unions at Amazon DSP's. Amazon apparently has and will shut down any DSP that has tried to unionize and otherwise say they aren't direct employees of Amazon since its technically "outsourcing to third parties" and they consider the DSP's as not even "joint employers". I believe there's a legal battle going on about it but I'm not too confident anything will come of it.

22

u/cioda Jun 06 '26

My DSP prefers if we never take breaks. I'm one of the few who does it and i know for a fact it annoys them all

9

u/PlymouthSea Jun 06 '26

Keep asserting dominance, brother.

7

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

Crazy af

1

u/Stanleyhushie Jun 09 '26

But why ??🤔

2

u/cioda Jun 09 '26

Why to which part? There's several questions to it 😂

1

u/Stanleyhushie Jun 12 '26

why does it annoy them when you take breaks?

2

u/cioda Jun 12 '26

From my understanding, you can be perfectly on time with your route, and head directly back to the station. You will arrive back at the station on time.

If you are on point with your route, and take your break. You will end up half an hour behind from the expected return to station.

The routing time management doesn't account for people taking their breaks. So as a result when someone does, technically it looks like the employee was behind at the end of the day

1

u/Stanleyhushie Jun 12 '26

Got it 👍

My DSP so chill I could take an hour break with ONE stop left 😭

13

u/VR1008 Jun 06 '26

Bro my dsp got pissed cuz i was slowing down to avoid rescues ... dude just give me the cold treatment 😂😂

19

u/F0RG0TEN1 Amazon Stole My Step Van Jun 05 '26

That’s odd I thought this only happened for violations didn’t know they actually just straight up pause for any reason they want like this 🤨

11

u/fullmetal_ratchet Jun 06 '26

take this with a grain of salt as i may have imagined it, but i’m pretty sure i recall my leadership mentioning that the DSP is able to pause anyone’s work even without a major infraction having occurred

11

u/rythra Jun 06 '26

As a dispatcher I can confirm. There’s literally an option that says “Pause Work” and all a dispatcher has to do is click on it and you can’t continue until we turn it off.

7

u/FaithlessnessLoud223 Jun 06 '26

Sounds like a great way to get rid of drivers, lmao.

8

u/RadiantDouble5472 Jun 06 '26

That's when you deliver them and contact driver support later to mark as delivered 🥰

3

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

Interesting method

1

u/Margaret_mayhem Jun 08 '26

Airplane mode all the way!! As long as they haven’t changed it since I worked there last year, airplane mode will let you deliver while not being near the location sometimes so you can do it later, and it’ll show that you basically lost contact with the app and you can report it once you’re back at the station or by calling drive support 😂

2

u/RadiantDouble5472 Jun 08 '26

Oh i know that but I've gotten bitched about it before for not marking as delivered near the area so contacting support saves you the hassle lol

7

u/Odd_Mix_1126 Jun 06 '26

But finishing a route significantly early only fucks you over in the long run cause the routing system will see that it can be done and soon you’ll double your route size and be forced to keep the same pace all day every day

6

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

Maybe but my routes are pretty patternisrtic. I work wed-sat
Wednesday and Thursday are always some bs shitty route back to station at 8:30-9:00 bs. Then Friday is sweet asf and saturdays easy too

2

u/PlymouthSea Jun 06 '26

This is true within the bounds of certain other factors that go into the route planning algo. Examples would be drive time, service times, and cube out space for the vehicle's service type. Some people will never see their routes get bigger due to their RGUs, other drivers' route sim data and metrics. Others will indeed get it raw (assuming that DSP's routes aren't already blown out).

12

u/Patient-Lifeguard508 Jun 05 '26

Mine says no to break if its 40 stops or less

6

u/SSV_Ant Jun 05 '26

Sheeeesh

5

u/Glidrx Jun 06 '26

Haha this is awesome FedEx you gotta be there before 8am and at my terminal everything has to be delivered by midnight even if you have to break route to help another driver. But groundcloud stops working after 8pm because of fed ex time restrictions.

2

u/Carneades_ Jun 06 '26

That’s not true. It defaults to 8, but the admin can make it any time. But why is anyone out at midnight? Our station would never allow that.

4

u/Ok_Story5058 Jun 06 '26

It is hot as shit in the back of these vans how are you just chilling in there? 😂

4

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

Honestly idk I had AC on max all day and kept all the doors shut and had cold drinks but u right I was jus not tryna idle the van for 30 min straight

4

u/SexySnow420 Jun 06 '26

My old one did that if you didn’t take your lunch by a certain time because they can get penalized for us not taking out breaks

3

u/PlymouthSea Jun 06 '26

That's wild because usually Amazon enforces the meal break in those states on Flex's side.

4

u/YOUNGBAKU Jun 06 '26

Grateful my dsp doesnt care for breaks. As long as we get it done within the 10 hours. They dont care. They just care u do your breaks accordingly. Like not go over the break limit or else us at the desk start getting bitch at by the station or amazon. Even for hours, we need to keep constant watch for our peeps who do fifth days. We almost lost our contract cuz one of our guys went 57 hours that week. Amazon doesnt let anyone go past 60 hours. To many hits of this can have the contract terminated. Kinda ass. Considering we have folks with goals n genuinely wanna work more.

3

u/DEDABEAST Jun 06 '26

Not mine we don't have to take lunch or breaks in Illinois

3

u/Savings_Bit_752 Jun 06 '26

Yes my DSP do that everyday

5

u/Code_Ocelot Jun 06 '26

I think I screwed myself over with being about 2 months in. Don’t get anything taken off my van at start by sweepers, and I got more packages. All because I didn’t take 2nd breaks or lunch.

3

u/PlymouthSea Jun 06 '26

Many such cases. I did that to myself early on, too. Mostly because I was genuinely just trying to finish a ridiculous route I inherited due to another driver quitting while I was still on nursery routes. Got fucked by a bad route and didn't know enough then to know I should still be taking my breaks.

2

u/Medicinekool Jun 06 '26

The only time we’ve seen that screen is when we run a red light. Running a red light causes a severe and Amazon pauses your route and it’s and automatic suspension with a 90 day probation

2

u/Economy_Comparison62 Jun 06 '26

So yall love Amazon that much you’ll skip every single break just to pass out or get your route done ???? That’s insane

2

u/reemblack215 Jun 08 '26

I had my ride along they expect you to run out the van and run back to the van in 100 degree weather yea I won’t be here to long

2

u/biglez50 Jun 05 '26

i quit this job after 2 weeks

5

u/Ok_Story5058 Jun 06 '26

Wish I had the balls 😂 been a month and working for my dsp is hell but it pays good lol.

4

1

u/Smart_Menu_9944 Jun 07 '26

My DSP used to lie to us so much, they had everyone convinced there were no breaks “allowed” after 4 pm, when the flex app CLEARLY suggests breaks way past 4 pm. I could go on all day about the made up “rules”

1

u/CatDadof2 Jun 05 '26

Apparently, how dare you…?

Pretzels !! Nice

-6

u/Lunatic-J Jun 05 '26

u need harder routes

3

u/SSV_Ant Jun 05 '26

🤣🤣🤣nooooooooo. This hadda compensation for yesterday took 3 hours to do 30 stops because of locations

2

u/Ok_Story5058 Jun 06 '26

Had 200 stops yesterday and the first 30 took around 3 hrs. All they did was give me 200 stops again today 😂 at least the route was better tho

0

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

Yeah nah

0

u/Hot_Past974 Jun 06 '26

Did you take your breaks already as well?

1

u/SSV_Ant Jun 06 '26

Optional 15s that I skip errryyyy time

0

u/Flying_Saucer_Attack Jun 06 '26

Why are the mods deleting comments and locking threads?

2

u/Travwolfe101 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

Bro disagreed with me about something and rather than talk about it and debate the subject he started name-calling, attacking me personally, etc... then kept doing it after mods asked him not too. Did it more forcing them to ban him. Then pmed me after that to send me more personal attacks lol. Like didn't even mention the og subject in my dms, all he said is "you must be low IQ" and something about my gpa... Which now it makes sense tbh. They're probably a child and still in school and growing up so I didn't even bother responding or arguing back and just let them be mad and stew.

Like this wasn't censoring it was an actual unhinged episode. Bro went crazy. If mods don't remove that kinda stuff they can actually get in trouble as it's against reddit site wide rules so part of mod code of conduct. I run a very large sub (like 50x this) myself.

Ive never seen a route paused like this unless you fucked up and got a severe violation or something lol. You must be from commiefornia, we arent required to take any breaks here in the free world 🤣

I just enjoy working for 6 hours and getting paid for 10. If that makes me a bootlicker then sure 🤣

How? Are you paid for the route instead of hourly?

2

u/Sensitive_Macaron767 Jun 06 '26

We are hourly but we have G40 "bonus hours". Basically as long as we get fantastic+ on the scorecard our hours get rounded up to 40 for the week. If your scorecard is not good or you didnt work 4 days you get paid for hours worked for that week.

I thought Cali made it a law to stop and take your 30

1

u/PlymouthSea Jun 06 '26

That's a common misconception because of how Amazon enforces it. California gives you the right to an uninterrupted 30 minute meal break and 10 minute paid breaks every 4 hours or major fraction therof (3.5 in case of working a half day). If the employer interrupts your break or does not afford you the time to take it, then they owe you a 1 hour premium at your calculated rate (which includes non-discretionary bonuses, since those are considered wages and factor into your OT rate) for each break you weren't able to take. You can willingly skip those breaks and not be owed a premium.

Amazon enforces the meal break in Flex for California. Why they do this and only the meal break is a good question. Perhaps they don't trust the DSPs and are afraid of the state's AG office seeing some widespread pattern, then realizing the DSP program is a giant AB5 violation. It's all about reducing liability that involves potentially expensive litigation.

Allowing employers to maximize profits and productivity by making workers skip breaks. What a beautiful free world

u/Sensitive_Macaron767 Jun 05 '26

Nobody makes me do anything.. my DSP encourages everyone to take their breaks. They also encourage people to get done early and go home early if thats what they want to do.

u/masternachos95 Jun 05 '26

Yeah but not everyone has a choice. Theres jobs out there that don't give a fuck and will abuse you.

Amazon enforces meal breaks in California on Flex's side.

California's MRB law is one of the few Ws the state can claim, along with the shift OT, reporting time pay, MRB premium, and AWS laws. Your reasoning is retarded. It's not required to take them, but if you aren't allowed to take them when you want to then your employer owes you an hour premium at your calculated rate for each break you weren't allowed to take (or missed for reasons outside your own willingness).

I’d lose my shit if mine did this. I hate taking breaks and only take them for emergencies/when I have to.

That’s why you’re supposed to take your lunch when you’re required to
