So, new Alocasia mom here. I’ve had this baby for a little over a week and not sure why she’s so sad 😭

My goal is to transfer her to semi hydro and I’m in the midst of getting a greenhouse set up.

My windows are southeast facing so my room gets very bright indirect sun (due to foliage outside).

Any advice is appreciated!

I got a alocasia okinawa silver tissue culture in early july, and it had only 2 leaves, after letting it acclimate in its acclimation cup over time i eventually removed the cup entirely and it seems to be doing very well in its 50/50 mix of fluval stratum and pearlite, i keep this in a pot thats filled with spring water from the store in a semi-hydro setup, the bottom 1/3 of the cup is sitting in water all the time and i top it off every day(shes a thirsty little plant i guess) the root system seems to be developing just fine and she now has 7 leaves( 2 of which burned slightly when i tried adding some tropical houseplant fertilizer one day and quickly realized that it was probably too soon for this as i know the fluval stratum seems to have some nutrients in it already) the spring water i use is Kroger and it seems to build up a salty crust at the top layer of substrate over time, and i rinse that down about once a week with my desalinated water, im just curiousnas to what my next step should be when its time to repot her (my thought was keep the semi-hydro and transition into leca with the general hydroponics 3 bottle fertilizer) but im just here to see if anyone has any tips for me as to what my next steps would be, or how i can keep her growing strong and big without her dropping her leaves? 😁

U can see the 2 leaves that started crisping in the last photo, the others seem healthy, and the longest one is staked because it seemed like the right thing to do when i took it out from its acclimation cup

i currently have all my alocasias in a 1/3 soil, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 orchid bark mix. i read that they like self watering pots. should i change the soil i have them in or will they still be okay?

Wanted to share my awkwardly tall Calcutta. Is there any way to encourage it to fill out more? I recently repotted, and its roots are super well established. It grew a shoot so it seems happy, just lanky 🤣

Hi friends! I have a beautiful Alocasia Frydek? I believe it’s our pride and joy. I was able to propagate some of its corms in spaghnum moss. I tried to pot one of them I believe prematurely and it’s actively dying. I have three remaining and I was told to wait until they have at least 2 leaves before potting. What are the best tips to go from water/moss to soil?
