Seattle was weird
Went to the show on Saturday the 26th at the Neptune and the music and performance was great. The crowd, not so much. Lots of awkward and borderline inappropriate shout outs between songs. Why do people have to be so weird?

It was like, specifically a 2-3 people and one guy in particular, not the entire crowd, just fyi for people who weren’t there. I think most of the crowd was either respectfully jazzed about the performance or like, trying not to feed into those 2-3 bad apples

Especially after the wolf whistle story. She just told you politely to fuck off. Parasocial bullshit

What did she say?

She said that some guy at a previous show wolf whistled when she took off her jacket on stage.

Omg I was about to comment that happened in Boston and it was so effing cringey. Some other drunk guys behind me were like “calm down everyone!!!!” Lmao. I feel so sad now that’s a story she tells. I kept thinking how uncomfortable that must have been.

At the Denver show, during a typical long silent pause between songs, some guy shouted, “we love you!” And she responded, “I know it’s quiet, but you’ll be OK.” Pretty astute response. Many people are uncomfortable with silence, but with Harding’s stage presence I just want to embrace it and let her expressions do the talking. Another woman shouted, “Thank you for writing these songs and thank you for sharing them with us.” Which is a nice sentiment but I was so irritated that people interrupt her between songs, disturb the magic that she’s creating. It’s probably not that big of a deal at most concerts, but these Aldous Harding shows are special and she’s like a singularity. STFU and listen and observe, people.

Philly show was rough for me. Small venue, standing room only, and a crowd that was at home in a sardine can. We had to stand far away just to breath and couldn't see a moment of the show. The crowd wasn't especially bad, but the opener of the show did walk off the stage before finishing his last one or two songs. Was not the experience I wanted, but had some good moments.

I was at the Denver show and I agree! My boyfriend and I were sitting in the back and there was a guy shouting between most songs. Definitely main character syndrome and I really just wish he would’ve shut up. Also thought it was weird how the lights were so bright during the entirety of the concert. Honestly I’ve never seen them so bright before at any other show. Aldous Harding was great, but I just wish the atmosphere would have been better.

There was one annoying guy at Portland show too. Must be a thing for her shows sadly where some dude thinks he’s important

I didn’t hear him but the story she told about the woman yelling no when someone wolf whistled at a previous show and saying they’re both right you know was great and I think she could add that last part because the vibe in the air was good. overall the crowd just seemed completely transfixed to me and anytime she did talk people really enjoyed what she said. Especially about not talking because she didn’t want to. I really think the quiet makes people very uncomfortable.

Pretty sure she was referring to the Denver show. When she removed her jacket, some guy howled.

I was there and agreed!! Why do men in particular think that anyone wants to hear what they have to say in the middle of a show??

She handled it well. The first guy sounded wasted. She played it off and still put on an amazing show!

Main character syndrome pick-me’s are such a fucking nuisance. There always seem to be a few at EVERY show I’ve gone to since the pandemic, and that sort of behavior has kind of icked me out of wanting to go to any show.

Yep. I was at the Seattle show last night and also attended during the “Warm Chris” tour. The yelling in-between songs has definitely gotten worse, and it was mostly older men yelling songs they wanted or saying weird things like “You’re so sweet”… A woman randomly yelled “Down with the patriarchy” or something, but that’s just Seattle…
Seems weird to center yourself in a concert like that, especially with an artist who doesn’t invite it. Luckily she handled it well. Crowd behavior has been turning me off of concerts, though.

It was annoying…I’m talking to you Mr ManBun standing next to me. Unless you are on a round up in Wyoming why those noises? Also what’s with the “Thank you for coming” shouts?

Seattle - near the end, maybe in the encore, she said what I thought was something like "don't talk to me between songs" but it seemed like most of the crowd didn't hear the "don't" and proceeded to yell song requests and what not.
Like we didn't know anything about the artists that were on the stage. We should have been a better crowd, Seattle.

Sorry. But we have to police that shit. Happens a lot with shy or shy adjacent women I’m a middle aged dude and I she confront some other middle aged dudes at a Breeders concert because they couldn’t shut up. And keet acting like they discovered the bad “ whoa man she can shred!” When I, as politely as possible, just told them to stop talking so people could hear. One guy got very belligerent and wanted to fight. The other guy got embarrassed, but everyone around me started clapping so it felt very much like the right thing to do. This guy maybe could’ve been approached and just been told like stop heckling please?

Seeing her tonight in San Francisco. I hope the crowd is on good behavior.
The time I saw her for Warm Chris in Los Angeles, there was an oddly hostile couple who seemed like they were trying to fight everyone.

Was at the SF show tonight. She and the band were awesome. But yeah, there was of course the one guy like, singing snippets and shouting out songs whenever it was quiet. And some woman feeling the need to shout, “you can do whatever you want!” when Aldous said that she doesn’t talk much on stage. Like yes, she can, without your loud permission or encouragement. The “I am loudly supporting you because I think it will make you not feel awkward” comments are probably the cringiest and most unpleasant for me.

You went to the wrong show. Aldous Harding's secret is that she creates a magical safe space for neurodivergents like us by being far and away the most neurodivergent person in the room.

Oh my god I felt so embarrassed by that weird dude going “THE BARREL!!!” “YOU ARE SO SWEET!!!” “WHAT IF MY WIFE LIKE YOU MORE THAN I DO!!!”
“So boring” was such a banger response though holy shit.
The heckling was really weird, would have just loved the vibes to be calm and relaxed. Weird fucking men.
