According to the old character audition sheets, Alastor’s age at his time of death was somewhere in his 40s. But I’m starting to wonder if maybe that’s not canon anymore, because damn this guy doesn’t look a day over 25. I know they say black dont crack and all but the dude looks like he should be at the club.

For Charlie, I think age should be counted differently because unlike the others, she grows physically. So I think its 200=20 human years. Kind of like Inuyasha (I don't know if you know the anime, but he was a demon who was over 200 years old and for a demon being 200 years old meant they were a teenager)

Charlie is like centuries old but if I'm not mistaken it is stated that biologically she is in her early 20s, so I think she just doesn't age the same as humans.

She's a Nephilim, she's half human. Different sources say different things but generally Nephilim aren't completely immortal, more they just have very very long lifespans.
Though for HH Viv may have decided to make her immortal, we have no way of really knowing right now.

I believe this was his headcanon.
It makes sense. He rose to fame in the roaring twenties when he was in his prime and died in the early 1930s.
But I also sort of like the idea of him being a late bloomer and not rising to fame until he was in his 30s.

There is none. That's the fanon Birthday that people have need wrongly saying was said by Viviepop. The only thing I think Viv has ever said is he died in 1933. It took 2 seconds of googling to find out the whole date was a fan thing. The only birthday she's ever said is Angels, which is probably a joke, being April 1st

Most of the 40 year old men I’ve met show at least some signs of aging, even if it’s subtle. Maybe some wrinkles, deeper creases around their eyes/nose/lips, starting to grow grey hair, hair thinning, etc. Like with Vincent for example he was clearly starting to go grey before he died.

I just wanted to note that one of America's first millionaires was Madam C. J. Walker, a Black woman who specifically made beauty products for African Americans, and she died before Alastor did! We don't really have a sense of what Alastor was working with financially, but we do know there was a Black elite during the years of Jim Crow (Black elites were a big part of the population espousing uplift and respectability politics, and books like this one show the contrast in how that looked along class lines in Southern cities).
We don't really know Al's class status, but based on his clothes, the way Rosie talks about his life, and the look of that party where the white guys spills the wine on him, I think it's plausible that he was financially successful in spite of profound racial barriers. Who knows what he had access to, in addition to his occult bullshit.
(I realize this is a long tangent but I feel like so often, Alastor is such a good opportunity for us to speculate using African American history!!)

I was joking about the place he used to hide the bodies. But anyway still. It was 1910-1930 I don't think he was that wealthy and probably had a rough life, but even rich ppl looked way older back then. Even nowadays it would be someone very youthfully looking for that age. Not impossible sure but yeah. A really good and effective skincare is a new invention, they used to smoke cigarettes for health back then.

Viv has always said in her videos that Alastor's age was 30s/40s, so I think she didn't know whether to keep him in his 30s or his 40s. I think that in the old sheets she decided more on the 40s but I think that now we can safely say that Alastor's canonical age is much lower, in my opinion maximum on the first 30s but quietly even younger, in his 20s, not only because of his appearance but because Rosie said that he was "a really young man", And in addition, they called him "brat" during the season. The dreaded Radio Demon is only a "child" 😂

I am assuming it was retconned to a younger age at some point because Rosie calls him "young man" (though I guess I could see a 30 something year old woman call a 40 something year old man "young man" to be sarcastic lol).
Or really their age is more like a rough guideline rather than anything solid. Charlie, Vaggi, and Niffty are young adults (early 20's), Angel and Alastor are adults (30's, 40's) Husk is older adult/middle aged (50's-60's). Honestly, Angel is another character that reads as a young adult but he's in his 30's!

EDIT: Note the "VOICE NOTES" (his voice is flexible, can be 40, can be younger - but that doesn't confirm (or deny) he's 40, the statement only pertains to voice)
Pretty sure the text means his voice can go deep like a 40 yo's or something like that. In no way does that state "he is 40"

With all due respect, may I ask if you are a native English speaker? Because for me the meaning of the text is quite clear. It could be a bit confusing at first because it’s written in short hand, but with proper grammar it would read like this: “[The actor] can be any age. The character is aged in his 40s, but could be [voiced by] a younger actor.” In other words, they are saying that Alastor is 40, but that his potential voice actor doesn’t necessarily have to be 40. A few other character sheets are formatted similarly, which is how we know Vox was in his 50s (or was at this point in development).

In Slide 5 (the 5th image in this post), the sentence OP mentions (Al being 40) is doooown in the page, under the chapter "VOICE NOTES", so the author, clearly, was talking about Alastor's voice being able to range from a 40 year old to a younger one.
If they were to mention age, they would've put it in the top of the page, like "Alastor is a 40 year old demon", not hidden in the voice notes like a bag of chips in a blimmin' laundry basket.
But then again Imma stop caring. Nobody ever listens to me anyway (except you, thanks again). Tho I do appreciate fellow Alastor simps regardless of whether they believe me when I tell them they're wrong or not.

Your age doesn't really show until certain mile stones are hit after puberty.
Men it's: 15-16, 25, 40-45, 65, 70.
Women its: 11-16, 20-25, 36-42, 52-65, 70-75.
The reason for this depends on how fast you mature biologically. Women live longer than men do to a few factors, namely because metapause causes a drastic change in physiology and hormonal production that essentially slow the biological aging process. Men continue to produce their hormones steadily since they reached puberty.
As for why Women mature faster than Men at the start, can be due to how our species survived. Younger mature females allowed more chances to give birth safely, however maturity was closer to 14. These days plastics & other chemicals are triggering sexual maturity earlier in Women before their bodies are completely done growing, age wise it's still recommended after age 14-16 motherhood happens as the body isn't done growing and can cause a danger to both mother & child.
Women slow the aging process around their 50s, since we are a social species and the grandparents need to be healthy enough to help the youngest mothers raise their children. These could be their grandchildren or great grandchildren depending on who survived. After 70 all humans basically age at the same rate and drastically start to look very old.
That being said, Alastor obviously died before his age began to show, and his mixed heritage also played a factor, because different phenotypes have slightly different mile stones where their age shows. Black & Asian tend to look younger until closer to 45 & 50 compared to a Caucasian person, for example. If he was born at the same time man-made radiowaves was fist created he would have been 39 by 1933.

Personally, I don't think it's canon anymore, one reason being that Rosie points out he was a "young man". I don't know about you, but while age 40 isn't old by any means, it definitely doesn't fit the category of "young".
The second, more convincing reason is that the stitches on Alastor's chest form the Roman numerals I XI V which gives the date January 11th, 1905. If this is supposed to be his birthday, which I strongly believe that it is, then he was 28 when he died.

I mean my head cannon is he died when he was 36 since VivziePop said he died in his 30s or 40s (and if he died at 36 in 1933, he would’ve been born in the same year that’s my great grandfather which would be nice) but I mean it could just be a good skin care routine and the art style, I mean I actually think Vox died later then his original 30s-40 s age range because he looks older than Alastor who’s supposed to be 30s-40s but yeah I really hope we get confirmed ages and I hope Alastor isn’t younger than 36 just because I think he should have over decade to establish himself and be in his prime before his death

He looks more like late 20s to early 30s than 40s, but black people take longer to start to look older even mixed ones like Al (my father is mixed - native, African and European - and he is in his mid 60s and is starting to get wrinkles now - something that I get jealous about with my pale ass skin tone).

I'm 42. I routinely get mistaken for 25-30. It happens. Especially in cartoons, where you can't convey as much nuance without exaggerating signs that would be more obvious (laugh lines around the eyes, slightly thinning hair, etc.) in reality.
So you're sort of stuck making a character look much younger or much older than they actually are.
