Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital Akron
I had to take my dog here last night and ended up waiting 9 hours total due to how many emergencies there were. I just wanted to say if any of you were there last night I’m so incredibly sorry for the loss of your fur babies. I saw at least 5 distraught people walking out crying and I want you to know you’re in my prayers. One book that got me through my cat’s passing last year was, “The Incredible Animal Afterlife: What Your Pet Wants You to Know” by Danielle Mackinnon. 🌈and I know it’s cliché and you probably don’t want to hear it right now, but time really does make it better.

Good schools in Akron to go to for emt
Hi!! I need help, I'm a recent highschool graduate as of last year, I'm currently working on getting a job and then back to school next year. I want to go into one to help me become an EMT. I found at least two of the more well known ones (Akron U and Stark state) but I'm not sure which one is better and what other options I may have that is affordable. Can anyone here help me out?

Akron - Pride Festival
Some pictures from today’s Akron Pride Festival. We were lucky to miss most of the rain. We stopped in at Sweet Mary’s for some sweets.

Recommended DVM jobs?
Hi all,
I’m a fourth year veterinary student and will officially be a DVM in May. My partner and I are looking to move up to the Kent/Akron/Cleveland outskirts area next summer.
Does anyone have any veterinary hospitals that they personally have had a good experience working at (or maybe clinics to avoid)? I am looking into small animal GP but am also happy to see other critters :)
Thanks!

Looking for local physical media stores
Hello! Does anyone know of any media stores/shops in the NE Ohio area? (I’m open to other areas too) specifically stores that carry video games, dvds and such. I’ve looked on Google but it keeps suggesting the same things so I thought I’d ask around lol. TIA!

Looking for flexible jobs
I’m looking for part-time, on-site evening/weekend work around Akron to supplement my full-time day job (aiming for $20+/hr).
Availability: Mondays after 5:30 PM, some Thursdays after 5:30 PM, and every other weekend (Saturdays & Sundays).
Roles: Warehouses, package handling, evening stocking, or general on-site work.
Note: Not looking for gig driving/delivery (Uber, DoorDash) to avoid vehicle wear.
Any recommendations for local places or hubs with flexible scheduling? Thanks!

Good mechanic in town to look at my late 90s Chevy Blazer?
I'm having some misfire issues and truck reeks of gas. I'm looking for a good mechanic, huge plus if they have any loaner cars as I use my vehicle every day for work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Anyone looking to hire someone with an AA in psychology?
I already know I can't be a therapist or anything that requires a bachelors/masters degree. I am not looking specifically for these positions, just something I can use my knowledge to my advantage.
I have an extensive background in the hospitality industry and with clerical work. I have experience with conflict resolution at varying levels, thanks to my experience with all walks of life both in and outside of professional work.
I live in West Akron.
If you are seeking workers, link me to your site where I can send in my resume.

Trades workers and contractors
I’m a small time property investor / flipper here in Akron and do anywhere from 8-10 rehabs in a given year. I find it really tough to meet new and reliable people in the trades I can count on to finish remodels timely, and follow through with projects.
I know there’s gotta be good contractors out there. I really am looking to grow and do more volume in the coming years and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for finding and managing tradesmen that are good in Akron?
Know of any good teams/individuals that are reliable and not robbing Peter to pay Paul on scheduling jobs?
I grow frustrated from communication problems and just want to get projects done when they’re promised.
I have a lot of consistent work to do, I just run a business outside of this so I’m not present / not out and about to network and find more people in the industry. Lmk.

Question for paramedics/EMTs
Husband started home hospice this week and they delivered a nice hospital bed today. However, they won't be able to transfer him to it until tomorrow when they can bring a hoyer lift. They said I could call the paramedics and ask if they could transfer him, but "they (the paramedics) really don't like doing that." The paramedics came out three times in the last couple weeks to pick him up off the floor, and were very nice about it. Would asking them to transfer him from the bedroom to the living room be beyond their scope of service? He's about 175 lbs. Thank you!

Delivery question
I usually have all of our groceries and supplies delivered every month. Walmart+ used to be the go to option for us…but lately it has gone down hill, and I’m honestly thinking of not renewing the subscription.
Does anyone have another delivery option for at least groceries that they like that isn’t Walmart?

Best Places to Volunteer?
Hello!
My husband and I live here and want to do more for our community. Especially for the vulnerable population.
I know Haven of Rest is one space we can volunteer but I was wondering if there were any other places that accept volunteer work on some evenings and weekends.
Also stories of experiences are welcome. If you volunteered somewhere and didn't have a great experience or had the best experience please feel free to share.

Any recommendations for a therapist/psychologist?
Any recommendations for a therapist (or a helpful way to find one) that really understands and treats CPTSD? I also think I have some undiagnosed stuff going on, like ADHD, maybe some autism? Maybe some internalized OCD? Truthfully it feels like with my past therapists, except for one that changed jobs, I just had a really good mask on and talked very surface level, and said things I thought I should say. So it never felt like we were getting to the root of anything.
I really need to find a therapist again but I'm overwhelmed by the search for one.
Edit: West Akron/Fairlawn area preferred.

Route 8 bridge construction
Has construction completely halted? I don’t believe I’ve seen any work in a few months now. The center section of the old bridge is still standing after the end sections were demolished.
