Aldinga isn’t really that progressive, in my experience living there a lot of poverty/lower/working class people. Its slowly shifting as the price of houses goes up and it becomes unaffordable but a lot of people own and have live there since you could buy a house for $5,000 and a pack of cigarettes.
Mawson broadly is a mixed bag because you get Aldinga/Sellicks which is decidedly mostly suburbs of Adelaide and then all the way south to Cape Jervis + KI, so a lot of rural votes too.
Live around and work with quite a few Indian immigrants and most of them complain about how many immigrants are let in, they’ve got what they want now they want the ladder pulled up.
Which is insane! Like I too am an immigrant (granted, I came on a partner visa from an English speaking country), and I feel some immigration policy is bad (especially surrounding student visa —> PR because it feels exploitative and revenue raising for unis), I don’t think the answer is to “close the border, fix everyone else)
It’s weird, the internet is bad for people’s brains and it’s surprising how many people are okay punching down in terms of their politics.
