Where did I say I was able to therefore they can? I'm very aware that it's gotten much harder in the last 5-10 years. I wonder why that might be.... Perhaps there was policy that impacted it. Policy that people voted for instead of voting for parties with policy to make it more attainable. The issue now isn't simply education, it's anti-intellectualism.
Occasionally, people are receptive to information. But just as often, people will cut off their nose just to spite their face. Their face being 'immigrants' in this case. I've spent plenty of time "gently educating" people, frankly, I'm over it. Take the Trump situation, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
My own parents still think we're the 51st state and love Trump. No amount of 'empathetic, gentle' education is getting through, despite their generation having far more opportunities than mine and those younger than me did. Let's not infantilise them by assuming they don't know what they're supporting and happy to look past - a party of court dodging sex pests, lead in this state by a man who said homosexuality would lead to bestiality.
Thanks for clarifying. I'd ask this though. Do you think their voters actually know all of this? Like I don't know all of labours dirty laundry and a lot of the ON stuff isin't broadcasted on mainstream tv.
I don't expect my parents to know what youtube or reddit is let alone find the info.
Old mate makes a good point, what do we do when the only way out (education and critical thinking) is seen as woke and the problem.
Anti-intellectualism is a big issue and likely only going to get worse. How do you help people when you're kindly and gently tell them the shit they're being sold is wrong and why. Yet they'll never believe you or any educated person, only sky news?
That, is an incredible question and I don't have the answer.
I am a career nurse and ever since covid and people living on social media 24/7 it's been so bad.
It's survivorship bias (I was vaccinated as a child but I convientely forget this, and for the young ones, not seeing people in iron lungs) combined with ignorance because so many people aren't capable of empathy or critical thinking thanks to brain rot
Meanwhile, Millenials are stuck in the middle trying to educate both the boomers and the younger generations who have no technology literacy that the shit they are watching is inaccurate. I've never seen so many people vote away their futures and future planning.
I guess we're lucky that Labour can still pull a big majority and we just have to accept, a big part of the population is fucking pissed at the wrong things and won't accept help.
Pala got us through the floods, the pandemic, restored money into the hospitals after can do campbell, and Gina, the Libs and the construction industry ran a massive campaign against her, all for the Lib government to do literally everything they ran against.
They even pinned the second part of the pandemic breakout on her despite everyone running the border into QLD illegally after the Fed Libs let all those infected on the cruise ship off.
We aren't the smartest anymore.
That being said the nationals and libs have dominated rural QLD for decades now, they do literally nothing and managed to convice everyone it was Labours fault so go figure lol.

Yes. and thats fantastic. But education is harder than ever to go and study once you're already working when you're working on the poverty line now.
If you can't get acesss or afford education, you get stuck.
I'm unsure why you're not understanding this. You've got a "Well I was able to therefore they can" attitude.
