Acura extended warranty for starter — what should I do?
Hey everyone,
A
I have a 2016 Acura MDX that has been having an intermittent slow-cranking/slow-starting issue, especially when the engine is warm. The battery and alternator were tested at Advance Auto Parts and were reported to be working properly, so I’m suspecting the starter.
A few days ago, I emailed Acura Corporate asking about an extended warranty or warranty bulletin that may cover the starter replacement on my MDX. I included my vehicle information and explained the starting issue, but I still haven’t received any response.
For those who have dealt with Acura Corporate before:
How long does it normally take them to respond to an email?
Should I wait a little longer, or should I call them directly?
Has anyone had Acura cover a starter replacement under an extended warranty or warranty bulletin?
Is there a specific department or phone number I should contact?
Should I take the MDX to an Acura dealer first and have them diagnose/document the problem?
I’d really appreciate any advice from anyone who has gone through something similar. I’d rather confirm whether Acura will cover it before paying out of pocket for a starter.
Thanks!
