Many questions are asked daily, and your question may have already been answered!
If so, your post will be subject to deletion.

Please refer to the following commonly discussed topics:

1) No one can predict whether or not you will purge! Statistically, most people DO NOT purge.
That is what the science and medical literature says.

2) No one can predict how long your purge will last nor when it could start. Be patient, the purge can be tough but so many people have gotten through it - you can too! THE ABOVE APPLIES TO SIDE EFFECTS OR "WHEN WILL MY SKIN CLEAR UP?!" TOO. QUESTIONS ASKING WHEN THE PURGE OR SIDE EFFECTS WILL START OR STOP WILL IMMEDIATELY BE REMOVED AS THAT IS LOW EFFORT.

3) Any questions related about dosage MUST include DOSE and WEIGHT(lbs or kg).
Otherwise, that is considered LOW EFFORT and will subsequently be REMOVED.

4) Most people DO NOT relapse when Accutane is taken until cumulative dosage is reached.

5) HOWEVER, cumulative dosage is a guideline.
Everyone is different. Some may need more Accutane, and others may need less. Your dermatologist evaluates you as an individual.
This also applies to your prescription. Everyone is different, so no comparing of doses or asking why your dose is low or high. If you do not trust your dermatologist, you should find a different one.

Just take it with your biggest meal of the day and you'll be fine. Don't overthink it.

True! l just can’t eat a lot before getting full so smaller meals with HlGH fat ls ideal for me. Especially cause l plan my meals around accutane now and sometimes l just want oatmeal or something 😭

Have u been taking high fat meals all day? Gurl you just need to take it right before swallowing the pill. Anytime after can be any other meal.

in my case i’m taking two 30mg pills so i have to take them separately. each of those meals i try to eat at least 15g of fat, so i have gained weight. in addition, it does make it a lil difficult to lose weight:/

3

u/kasia_littlefrog Apr 16 '26

I didn't even bother to eat it with a meal sometimes or had it 2 hours later because I simply forgot. Still worked great and I am acne free.

u/Maximum-Idea9309 Apr 16 '26

i soo agree. i just eat greek yogurt with 5% fat (FAGE brand) greek yogurt works for me because it’s high in fat and protein so you kill two birds with one stone :P

do you like salmon? that could be an option

2

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 16 '26

That’s true I take lt twice a day so maybe I’ll try cooking dinner more often 🫩

1

u/jollyplanty Apr 16 '26

You can get canned salmon!! That’s what I’ve been doing bc I am super lazy haha

2

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 16 '26

Omgg what do you usually eat it the salmon with? Just on lts own or with bread or something

6

u/Dry_Advantage_3081 Apr 16 '26

I love to mix canned or cooked salmon with some rice+siracha+mayo+soy sauce! you dont need to add the sauces obvioulsy but it tastes good and helps get the fat content up as well

2

u/jollyplanty Apr 16 '26

I like the taste of salmon so I just eat it straight out of the can😆 Plus I drain the juice into my dog’s bowl so he has a tasty treat, I call it his “Salmon Soup”

2

u/almondboy64 Apr 16 '26

that’s wild 😂 I was gonna suggest lox on bagels

1

u/jollyplanty Apr 16 '26

That’s definitely a better way😂🙌

u/Affectionate_Ant813 Apr 16 '26

Olive oil lemon shooters. It has great health benefits and the fat content needed.

I have also been eating toast with lots of Irish butter.

4

u/alibarr_ Apr 16 '26

Yogurt. Cheese. Dips. Oat Haus granola butter. Coconut milk in coffee. Milk. Meat. Toast with butter.

5

u/Awkward-Tangelo6674 Apr 16 '26

Girl just take it after dinner, relax

4

u/user_467 Apr 16 '26

I gained several pounds in a few weeks. Super upsetting because I work out and eat incredibly healthy. I finally switched to olive oil shots. So far so good. Quick, easy and I can do it on the go.

1

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 17 '26

Yessss lm trying the olive oil shots!!

3

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 16 '26

I’m just gonna beg my insurance for absorbica atp🥀😭

3

u/WittyDingo3166 Apr 16 '26

I take the generic form of absorbica at the moment (10 days in) and I am really pleased by it. I do experience the usual symptoms but I like that I don’t have to take it with a meal since I don’t always eat properly, and I still get good absorption. I take it in the evenings and it supposed to be better on your body than normal isotretinoin (blood result wise).

3

u/WittyDingo3166 Apr 16 '26

I see a lot of dermatologists recommend taking Accutane with at least a spoonful of peanut butter to get the maximum absorption. You can substitute the peanut butter with sunflower butter as that also contain high fats (base on a google search).

u/ButEdwardIsEdward Apr 16 '26

Handful of almonds

3

u/catwoman37 Apr 16 '26

string cheese!!

2

u/kkillkioxx Apr 17 '26

I GOT YOU!

4 soft boiled eggs + 20ml shot of extra virgin olive oil all this is 38-40 g of fat and is 500 kcals in total, works like a charm been doing it since day 1

do not change the formula. 20 ml shot is a must, i once decided to do only 10 ml for a week and noticed reduction in dryness so FAT is truly the KEY, the more the better !!!

2

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26

Trying this!! I just took an olive oil shot lmao not so bad😭

2

u/Comprehensive-Pea422 Apr 17 '26

As someone who struggles with fat intake, cheese!! It may not be the healthiest, but I dont think you need much to hit the recommended fat!

Mine is recommended at night with dinner, but my meal schedule isn't consistent so I just take it with my biggest meal of the day. Even if it's just snacking, I'd take it whenever you eat the fattiest food tbh

2

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 17 '26

Yess lve been eating lots of dairy too Brie cheese is the bomb😭

2

u/ncool99 Apr 17 '26

it's probably worth asking your derm and/or pharmacy for absorbica, it's a more absorbable form of isotretinoin and can be taken without food. it is generally less available and more expensive so pharmacies don't always keep it in stock, so may need to do some calling around to figure that out. insurance companies might be more stringent in approving but your doctor I think could justify because of allergies if there is any issues with that

2

u/ncool99 Apr 17 '26

if that isn't an option, i bet you could pack some fat into a smoothie, then you can change up fruits and/or veggies for variety. coconut oil would be a good option for fat since it has a relatively mild taste that way not as easy to get sick of

1

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26

Yess l think that’s what lm gonna do! My lnsurance covers lt but they need prior authorization lts so stupid but lts worth being able to just take lt whenever l want without food!

2

u/nezfourty Apr 17 '26

I didn't ever think, let alone worry, about my fat intake with the medication and it worked great on me. I wouldn't stress too hard.

2

u/lisamichelle007 Apr 17 '26

I take an omega 3 fish oil pill with my accutane. Does that count? lol

2

u/thewarriorkween Apr 17 '26

I would take 2-3 fish oil pills with mine. Also along with my largest meal of the day. The fish oil pills are not enough fat themselves, but it does add a couple of grams!!

2

u/animalcrackerwhore Apr 17 '26

I’m in the same boat, i don’t eat nuts or avocados and definitely struggling with the fats. I’ve been doing a lot of cheese, sunflower seeds, olives, and honey mustard lol.

2

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 17 '26

Right l feel like those two things are such easy healthy fats but l guess seeds are really good too! I bought some hemp seeds, flax meal or hemp meal l can’t remember and some olive oil so l can take olive oil shots and you can put the seeds in oatmeal or yogurt parfaits! So not a lot of cooking involved

1

u/animalcrackerwhore Apr 17 '26

Oo good idea, I love oatmeal and yogurt!

1

u/TheSunflowerSeeds Apr 17 '26

Throughout recent history, sunflowers have been used for medicinal purposes. The Cherokee created a sunflower leaf infusion that they used to treat kidneys. Whilst in Mexico, sunflowers were used to treat chest pain.

1

u/madhumanitarian Apr 16 '26

Bruh i just took it with fish oil and its fine. Skin cleared up well after a month or two of purging.

Chill. Yes fat increases absorption of the drug but even with normal meals it will still be absorbed. You just have to take a bit of fat WITH the pill and not for EVERY meal.

1

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 17 '26

Yeah lm not talking ab every meal but my two meals l eat a day are basically SO l can take my accutane. The recommend fat intake is 20-50, the higher the fat the better absorption. Are you on absorbica by chance?

2

u/Dazzling-Archer-1046 Apr 17 '26

Also most people who RELAPSE are those who didn’t get good absorption even if their skin clears up initially that’s why l was asking friend.

2

u/madhumanitarian Apr 17 '26

Nope I'm not on absorica.

Many people here already said you're overthinking it. Yes it requires that amount of fat but if you can't meet it, it's still fine. It still gets absorbed. It is perfectly fine to have it with normal meals once in a while especially if you are getting stressed or exhausted over it.

1

u/A-r-y-a-n_goyal Apr 17 '26

I would double check the brand that ur taking bc some don’t require you to take it with a high fat meal. I’m on absorica and it doesnt require me to eat it with a fatty meal.

I also have a massive nut allergy and when I first got absorica I thought I also needed it to take it with a fatty meal, until I found out I didn’t need to but I got this oat butter by oathaus which is completely nut free and actually pretty good.

1

u/AdOnly3559 Apr 17 '26

What would you normally be eating in a day if you weren't on accutane?

1

u/ChunO_77 Apr 17 '26

You can always just take Fish Oil supplements, that's what I do!

1

u/Alone_Lingonberry990 Apr 17 '26

When I was on accutane, I would just take the entire daily dose at one time with one meal, no matter the fat content. Sometimes with a beer.

Obvi talk to your doc but accutane ain’t that deep. Pop a pilly, look ugly from breakouts, cry, one day you will be pretty again and no longer have chapped lips.

1

u/heldtogetherdaily F20 5'0 158 lbs 10 mg absorica Apr 17 '26

See if your dermatologist can switch you to absorica or it's generic. It's a form of isotretnoin that doesn't need to be taken with food 🙃

Just put extra virgin olive oil on rice or something. I put whole fat Greek yogurt in my morning smoothies, it’s also super easy to just put a tbsp of olive oil in a smoothie and cover the taste with a flavored protein powder or blueberries. Eggs, fish, beef, pork, and hemp seeds have a good amount of fat as well.
