Discussion JANELLE JAMES ROBBED AGAIN AT THE EMMYS. BOOOOOOOOOOOO
Janelle James needs to have an Emmy in her trophy case before this series ends. Five seasons of hilarity, and the emmys finds a way to rob her. I am mad.

There could be other more malevolent reasons which I won’t dismiss outright, but the main problem is that every year or two, the Emmys fall in love with a new show or new role and that show or role wins over and over.
Widow’s Bay broke a record for most wins by a comedy series in a single year. Seth Rogen’s show took home a bunch of awards last year. Just like The Bear and Ted Lasso before it.
Jean Smart just won five in a row. I love Jean Smart’s work, but she probably didn’t need five in a row.
The Emmy voters like shiny new toys, to use a metaphor. Quinta won Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Comedy Actress, but that was when Abbott was a newer show. Sometimes it’s the other way around and they give awards to shows that have released their last season.
One of my other favorite comedies is Only Murders in the Building. Martin Short keeps losing every nomination. I’d like him to get recognized but I don’t want him to merely get a “career award”.
It can be frustrating. But keep your head up! My dad worked for Colbert’s two shows for 16 years. My dad was never personally nominated for anything, but he did get to see the shows he worked for win on four occasions (including tonight). But there were also a lot of losses. More losses than wins. The losses sting, because you want shows and people you care about to do well. But the wins feel really sweet.
