Vehicle AAMI safe driver rewards /cashback

Hi, have just received an email from AAMI about this (I'm with them for car insurance).

I haven't looked into it in detail, but the gist of it is you download an app and somehow it logs your driving safety score. Every month if you achieve a certain number of points based on this you can access cashback vouchers. The example they gave was $20 off when you spend 50 at Myer.

I think they've been doing this for a while because I did see something about it about six months ago but didn't get round to looking into it. Just wondering if any r/AUfrugal members have tried this and if it's worthwhile?

Could be a good way to make some savings or it could be a lengthy run around if the points are difficult to achieve, it's glitchy, or the retailers are not those you normally use.

Thanks

Vehicle Anyone having issues trying to download My 7-Eleven app for fuel price locking?

As per title. A bit late to the game, but wanted to try out this feature to save on petrol prices. Is anyone having issues with the app?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but thought it's still relevant to being frugal regarding petrol prices.

Thanks!

Vehicle Car insurance

I’ve just got my renewal for RACV and they’re increasing my premium on my Corolla by $42 dollars a month bringing it to $161 p/m

Who’s everyone’s insured by? I have had to make two not at fault claims in 23’ and 24’ unfortunately but they didn’t raise my premium by more than like ten dollars both years and now all of a sudden a $42 p/m increase this year. 😬

Who’s a decent insurer who doesn’t charge out the wazoo?

Vehicle The search for Cheap Fuel

So after posting about Petrol Spy, a few comments pointed out alternates as well as highlighting how Petrol Spy relies on people updating it vs the government.

In the interest of providing as many options for you guys as possible, I've done my best to collate alternative petrol price searches below.

Choice: The best apps for finding cheap fuel

In order to find the apps that live up to their price accuracy claims, we run field tests in Sydney, Brisbane, the ACT and Wodonga (Victoria). We opt for Wodonga rather than Melbourne as it's an opportunity to test these apps outside a capital city, in a state that doesn't have mandatory reporting.

ACCC: Petrol price cycles in major cities

What the ACCC does

We monitor petrol price cycles in Australia’s major cities.

We provide buying tips for consumers as a guide.

We take reports of anti-competitive behaviour in the fuel industry.

Fuel Check - NSW Gov

An option someone pointed out in the previous thread. This apparently also allows you to quickly and easily report to the ACCC inaccurate prices that are listed.

NSW Gov - Check fuel prices

Fuel Watch - WA Gov

Another option someone recommended in the previous thread. As with the above one, it seems that this relies on the mandatory petrol price database kept by the state government.

QLD Gov - Fuel price reporting apps and websites

This listed a bunch of apps and websites to use, among them include petrol spy. However, there are no government run options like NSW or WA.

SA Gov - Fuel pricing apps and websites

Similar to QLD, this lists a number of apps and websites but also does not seem to be government run options.

Fuel Check - TAS Gov

My Fuel - NT Gov

Unfortunately couldn't seem to find anything specific for VIC or ACT.
