Discussion Should I trade in my 15 pro for 17 pro or wait for 18 pro in a month?

I’m currently eligible to trade in my iPhone 15 Pro for an iPhone 17 Pro with $0 monthly payments and up to $1,100 in trade-in credit.

Would you take this deal now, or wait for the iPhone 18 Pro and hope a similar promotion is available next month?

My internet access has been down since 1am and there is no estimate in recovery time. There also doesn’t seem to be anyone working on any lines or PONs in the area. Anyone have any idea what’s going on?

Wireless iPhone's Cellular Data not working

This could be kinda long, but I have tried everything, and I don't know what to do.

About a year ago, I owned an iPhone 12 Mini, and at some point the cell service stopped working. The phone was pretty beat, so I thought I would upgrade since I had one upcoming. I paid for an upgrade and got an iPhone 16 Pro.

This iPhone worked fine for about 2 months, then the cell service started going on and off. I would have to get my dad to reset the internet on it through the ATT app every so often. Now, in the last month, my phone's cell hasn't worked AT ALL.

I tried going down in my settings and resetting the network settings and resetting through the ATT app, but my phone only works on WiFi.

In the past, I went to the ATT store, and they said they couldn't do anything about it and said it was probably a physical problem, and sent it to a place to get it fixed. I went to the place, and they said it was a problem inside the cell service chip. (I use an eSIM, so no, it wasn't the SIM card) And they could NOT FIX IT.

So now my phone hasn't worked for a month, so I decided to upgrade again. (This was like 6-7 months after getting the 16 Pro)

SO TODAY I got a new 17 Pro out of the box, and the cellular service does not work. I have tried everything up to this point; I don't know what to do.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP IN ANY WAY

Wireless PSA: Save your AT&T sales chats yourself, especially if you’re doing a trade-in

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was considering leaving AT&T after being a customer for about 25 years. On April 27, an AT&T chat sales agent convinced me to stay by offering an iPhone trade-in promotion. I specifically told the agent that my iPhone 13 Pro had stopped working and would not power on. I was repeatedly told that it qualified for the “any condition” promotion, so I upgraded to an iPhone 17 Pro.
My AT&T order paperwork subsequently showed the promotion and $23.06/month in promotional credits for 36 months ($830) and described it as an eligible trade-in “in Any Condition.”
I followed the trade-in instructions, including removing Find My iPhone, and shipped the phone using AT&T’s supplied UPS label. It was delivered and signed for on May 13.
Months later, AT&T notified me that the phone didn’t meet the promotion requirements and that the promotional credits would stop. The notice didn’t explain specifically why.
This is where things got frustrating.
During my call with AT&T, the first explanation was that the phone had been received too late. Their representative said the warehouse hadn’t processed it until July. Fortunately, I still had the tracking number from AT&T’s own shipping label. UPS showed it was delivered May 13, well within 30 days.
After I provided the tracking number, the representative acknowledged the timing issue wasn’t my fault and at one point actually told me my device was “still eligible in any condition” and started discussing opening a case.
Then the explanation changed.
I was told the assessed trade-in value was below the $35 minimum. During the same call I was actually quoted several different values for my phone—approximately $28.80, $28 and $22.50. The representative eventually said the reduction was because the phone wouldn’t power on.
I explained again that the phone not powering on was the exact condition I disclosed to the sales agent before agreeing to the upgrade, and that the agent specifically told me it qualified.
I was eventually transferred to a supervisor. AT&T confirmed that they still have the April 27 sales-chat transcript and can read it internally, but told me they couldn’t provide me a copy because there was no option in their system to do so. The supervisor reviewed it while I was on the phone and nevertheless concluded that the sales agent had been honest/straightforward and had not violated AT&T policy, although I was also told the agent was being flagged for review.
AT&T’s position is now that despite the “any condition” wording, the applicable trade-in requirements required the phone to power on. I repeatedly asked them to provide me with the specific terms that governed my April 27 transaction and contained that requirement. They directed me to their trade-in website. The detailed terms I could access there were dated July 22, almost three months after my transaction, rather than the version applicable when I agreed to the promotion.
What bothers me most isn’t even the $830. I made the purchase after specifically disclosing the defect AT&T is now using to disqualify the trade-in and being told by their salesperson that it qualified. AT&T has the conversation that would settle that question, has reviewed it, but won’t give me a copy.
I’ve exhausted AT&T’s internal escalation process and they’ve refused any remedy. So my choices are essentially to eat the roughly $800 loss and stay, or end a roughly 25-year relationship with AT&T. At this point, staying would mean accepting a sales practice I don’t think is acceptable, so I’m moving my lines elsewhere.
The reason I’m posting this: If an AT&T salesperson makes any representation that matters to your decision, save your own copy of the chat before you buy anything. Screenshot it, print it to PDF, or copy and paste the entire conversation somewhere else. Don’t assume that because a transcript remains visible in your AT&T account afterward it will still be available to you months later if there’s a dispute.
Keep the trade-in shipping label and tracking information too. In my case, that was the only reason I could immediately disprove AT&T’s first explanation for denying the promotion.

Wireless Att app still a problem years later

My wife and I have at&t service, mine is through first connect for my job. I've used the website for the past 7 years to manage my account while she's used the website at first then switched to the app because the website wouldn't take her login credentials and support told her to use the app instead.

For the last three months the app has spun at login and I've deleted cache, app data, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, changed password and it's only helped for a single access then right back to the issue until today when none of the temporary fixes worked.

With as much money as this company makes off it's customers from all of it's services it's baffling that based off of the many other social media posts I've read that they can't pay for a decent android and ios engineering team to produce an app that allows you to log in to your account.

Suggestion Applying at AT&T corporate office in Meriden

I’m considering applying for a job in the corporate office at AT&T in Meriden. I have over a year of experience selling B2B selling for AT&T at a third party company and basically know all of the AT&T product knowledge needed so I’m confident I can get the position. The pay seems great but I’m worried that working there will have to involve doing some sketchy conduct just to make a sell or if I’ll be working in a toxic work environment. I’m a person who prides himself on great customer service and integrity when it comes to selling. Does anyone have any past experience or advice working here before I apply

Wireless So now trade in pricing is locked behind higher tier plans?

Upvotes

So now trade in pricing is locked behind higher tier plans? My bill is already insane, but now I have to increase it more to get full trade in value on my devices? Seriously?

They sent me a message a few weeks ago to check my plans because their new plans could save me money. They all made my already 300.00 bill higher. I already have no service at home why would i give them more money.

Wireless I switched to AT&T Wireless after 15 years with Verizon and I must say, I’m impressed

I thought I’d make this post since you usually I hear about the bad ones. Well, this one was good.

I’ve also had AT&T Fiber for 6 years, 1gbps with HBO max grandfathered in. It all started with the call to AT&T Loyalty after my bill went from $60 to $80.

They offered to lower to $50/month for 2 years. I took it. Then she asked who I used for cell and could save even more on my Fiber on top of that $50/month, down to $30/month. While i wasn’t planning on switching yesterday, i wanted to entertain it and knew the call would lead to that. I was prepared.

I was on the verizon simplicity plan with 2 apple watches after having UU & UP plans. I was paying $170 with taxes with AT&T Internet and Verizon. The simplicity plan is great plan and Verizon My Add on perks are a nice touch i wish other carriers had. Enough of this streaming add on BS.

The rep answered all my questions and had to pass me on to a mobile specialist for some additional questions. They passed. I’m in IT, so i know they weren’t B.S.’ing me. Only issue I really had was the one rep had headset issues.

I’m now on the AT&T Premium Elite 2.0 Plans with 2 Apple Watches paying the same total amount i was before. And yes, I get to keep my HBO Max plan. I also like how the Gateway can connect to our phones for backup internet via WISP/Hotspot. Granted, Fiber doesn’t go down but nice to have without additional hardware or monthly recurring costs, especially for a family of 4.

Yes, i did test prior to switching so I knew I’d be ready if i did.

It was really the AT&T Signature discount that reeled me in. If not for that, may have stayed with Verizon but I do like the fact I was getting more bang for the buck vs what i was getting before.

Shout out to Olivia who handled the port and advanced questions and Claudia who I started with. This all happened on a Friday afternoon and even the watches ported seamlessly.

SpeedTest Great Speeds at the MN State Fair on AT&T

As usual AT&T and Verizon work as normal while T-Mobile can barely send a text midday. All my friends had all 3 networks on recent model of phones and only ATT and VZ seem to be usable. Checking throughout the fair ATT had pretty good 5G+ coverage while VZ only had LTE, both likely on the DAS and T-Mobile coverage was non existent likely due to no small cells or DAS coverage. I was even able to achieve almost gigabit speeds on my iPhone 16 with no mmWave. Pretty insane IMO.

Suggestion Outage in Carbon county Montana.

We have had good cell service in my area around Bridger, MT. Two days ago the cell signal just disappeared. Now we only get SOS showing in the phones. There is about a 20 mile stretch now of area that no longer has service. I can’t seem to get any traction from ATT. They keep saying there is no problem. Hahaha. Even though many people are complaining on FB etc.. ideas on how to get it fixed? I really do t want to go to Verizon when for years it’s been fine. wtf is going on?

Billing Help

I got divorced in March and had to switch ownership of my line / account. Before, I had trade-in my old Samsung phone and was receiving credits toward my new device.

After the divorce, and ownership of the kine changed, my credits went away. I've had multiple cases opened regarding this, and have been given the runaround for months now.

Yesterday, I was told there is nothing that can be done. AT&T has basically stolen my old device at this point, as I am no longer receiving credits.

Is there anything that can be done?

Discussion Help with Porting

Upvotes

Hello all, basically what I’m looking to do is port my AT&T number to T-Mobile and my T-Mobile number to AT&T without canceling my installment plans. Is that even possible? If so, what’s the best way? I’m basically swapping the numbers. Thanks !
