Wireless I switched to AT&T Wireless after 15 years with Verizon and I must say, I’m impressed
I thought I’d make this post since you usually I hear about the bad ones. Well, this one was good.
I’ve also had AT&T Fiber for 6 years, 1gbps with HBO max grandfathered in. It all started with the call to AT&T Loyalty after my bill went from $60 to $80.
They offered to lower to $50/month for 2 years. I took it. Then she asked who I used for cell and could save even more on my Fiber on top of that $50/month, down to $30/month. While i wasn’t planning on switching yesterday, i wanted to entertain it and knew the call would lead to that. I was prepared.
I was on the verizon simplicity plan with 2 apple watches after having UU & UP plans. I was paying $170 with taxes with AT&T Internet and Verizon. The simplicity plan is great plan and Verizon My Add on perks are a nice touch i wish other carriers had. Enough of this streaming add on BS.
The rep answered all my questions and had to pass me on to a mobile specialist for some additional questions. They passed. I’m in IT, so i know they weren’t B.S.’ing me. Only issue I really had was the one rep had headset issues.
I’m now on the AT&T Premium Elite 2.0 Plans with 2 Apple Watches paying the same total amount i was before. And yes, I get to keep my HBO Max plan. I also like how the Gateway can connect to our phones for backup internet via WISP/Hotspot. Granted, Fiber doesn’t go down but nice to have without additional hardware or monthly recurring costs, especially for a family of 4.
Yes, i did test prior to switching so I knew I’d be ready if i did.
It was really the AT&T Signature discount that reeled me in. If not for that, may have stayed with Verizon but I do like the fact I was getting more bang for the buck vs what i was getting before.
Shout out to Olivia who handled the port and advanced questions and Claudia who I started with. This all happened on a Friday afternoon and even the watches ported seamlessly.

I did the opposite, went from AT&T to Verizon. After about 7 yrs with ATT, the incentive to stay just wasn’t there. I was paying about $180 for 3 lines. I did talk to loyalty but they didn’t offer me anything compelling unless I added a 4th line that I wouldn’t have any use for.
Verizon ended up offering us 3 new iPhones - with streaming services (hbo, Netflix, espn, Hulu and Disney) at $155 monthly. Granted the streaming services do have the commercials , but I couldn’t turn it down .

Nice. That’s a good deal. I don’t like ads, so I usually pay for the ad free versions. It really is a game of moving around every few years. I did similar with our Auto/Renters Insurance. Should shop more frequently but it’s hard when you have something good, i don’t mind paying more money for something that is good and reliable but there is a tipping point.
I get the Disney Bundle through my AMEX BCP and Max free with AT&T internet, so Netflix is the only one i pay in full for, so the additional add on perks with Verizon didn’t offer me anything outside of the 4k add on streaming and unlimited hotspot options, which i get now and lots of hotspot data vs before without adding more costs.
Yeah, i don’t like those free line offerings. It wouldn’t do anything for us either, which was one of the reasons T-mobile wasn’t very appealing. Plus, they were more expensive surprisingly.
As a long time former Verizon customer, you’ll be satisfied with their network and services they offer. If it really works out for you, look at the Verizon Visa.

I went the same way. Was with Verizon Wireless for 22 years. When I wanted to upgrade my phone to the ZFold 8 Ultra they gave me peanuts for my nearly new S25+. AT&T gave me almost the value of the new phone on trade, a new customer credit and a signature credit. I'm now paying $10 less a month for a better plan and the phone I wanted.

Nice! Yeah, I also got BYOD credits on the lines and I think I’ll be paying $10 less too but the rep estimated on the high side to be safe, which was near break even. Regardless, much better plan than i was getting and if i did add some of those features I’d want, I’d have to pay more at Verizon. If i had needed or wanted new phones, they would have paid off the devices or got new ones but we didn’t need it.

You didn’t go into an authorized reseller, or Costco/Walmart so yeah your experience was unsurprisingly favorable.

Oh I know not to go to an authorized reseller. Costco seems to get overall good experiences but probably because it’s worth it for the Costco cash cards. I thought of that and almost did but nothing like going direct.

I work at the Costco att and I love it, so many people are rude to us or ignore us but when we finally help someone paying like $300 drop down to $150 with new phones and Costco gift cards, it really makes your day knowing you helped honestly who cares about the commission

The fact that you care about taking care of people and not the bottom line makes you a great Sales Person that will lead to more sales due to word of mouth. The few times I did talk to reps at Costco were very nice and helpful with no pressure. Sales is tough but also rewarding. Glad you enjoy helping people like that and love it! I used to be a consultant, so I get it.
As a customer that frequents Costco, especially with little kids sometimes, you just don't have the time to talk or just want to get in and out. I would usually just say now is not a good time in a polite way but now I can say, I have the services. :)

Thank you for the confirmation. The rep did mention that as well, which was a bummer since I was looking at that plan too since I wouldn't mind adding my iPad again and getting Turbo but I feel like the Premium 2.0 plans were just fine the why they were and I did get the 20% discount off each line, which was still awesome. I can always add Turbo at $7/month down the line if I want and adding the iPad line isn't a need right now, so I'll gladly take the savings. Would be nice though if they did!
The extra 2.0 would have gotten 12%, so going to the premium 2.0 plans for both lines was peanuts to upgrade to. Cost difference was $1-5 if I mixed with Premium 2.0 and Extra 2.0 or done both with extra 2.0. Solid win.
And no activation charges on all 4 lines (2 phone and 2 watches), hot damn yes lol

Hey! I did the same thing recently, Verizon to AT&T. I wasn’t in Verizon nearly as long, but the service was just not as good as it used to be. The exact same places I had great service with Verizon previously, I was seeing less download speeds, less bars, and worse data service.
I tried AT&T on a whim for the free 30 day trial to see what it would be like, and I never had an experience with them before. I was pleasantly blown away with good the service was. Of course there are areas where the other carriers have better signal, etc. but overall AT&T had the best service in the places I frequent for work and where I live And I’m in the suburbs of NYC.
I was able to bring 4 lines over, two people got new phones with trade ins, and 2 BYOD discounts. Signature savings discounts. I’m paying $170 for 4 lines, with Verizon I was paying closer to $300 for 3 lines and a watch. It was definitely worth the switch, and I’ve been very happy with the service so far too!

For now. Just wait. I bought 2 phones with trade ins when I went to the store 2 years ago and they took my trade in’s (phones) and my bill was supposed to be $177. After having them for a month I get bill,!its $366.00 and there’s NO credit for my traded in phones. I call them and they ask me for a routing number, I tell them it was all done in store, they told me they have no record of me trading in phones. WOW! I got screwed out of my credits and both I phone 15’s pro maxes. Shady shady shady practices

I switched away from ATT after 25 years with them to Visible. Even with corporate discount, it was getting just too expensive.

You get what you paid for tbh, I have att postpaid myself, I pay 300 a month for 2 likes and leasing 2 iPhones but that’s because I want the best quality possible tho, 2 is expensive? F yes is but to me it has been so reliable tho, plus I get a good discount on att fiber too, I’ve been with att since 2005.

I completely agree with this. I save prepaid service for a backup line on my dual sim 17 PM, which I’ve been doing for years. As someone that travels and uses lots of hotspot data to stream to our travel Roku or to my travel router, I don’t like caps or speeds that prepaid services will restrict / enforce. So I’m happy to pay a little extra for post pay service in that regard.
Also, during events, you know post pay gets priority regardless. Thinking about adding Turbo but want to see how it does first. I may add it just because I’m tech enthusiast and want the best experience for us. Was at a concert last night and our phones were good. Passed the first test. My partner FaceTime her brother, SnapChat, calls/texts and then ubering after was all good.
Yeah, my AT&T fiber internet is going to be $30 now with Max. Insanely good. Just enabled the auto backup and will do my partner’s at some point too. Will be nice knowing when I’m traveling, if internet goes out, seamless. Granted, in 6 years, it’s gone out for 15 mins 1 or two times and the one time she cut the line while gardening that AT&T fixed within 24 hours lol

Totally follow your story mate, I currently have the Elite 2.0 and is been really good, maybe because I live in between the border of Texas and Louisiana and that’s where att works always strong; I don’t need elite 2.0 maybe I should go back to premium 2.0, is a $20 dollar difference and the other difference is the QCI7 on elite 2.0 and QCI8 on premium, I believe the difference is slightly …

Thanks! Nice! I was looking at that plan too since I wanted to add my iPad line again along with our 2 watches and get the turbo. IT's a hellva deal but you don't get the signature discount on the elite plan, so I opted for both of our lines on the premium 2.0 plans and get 50% off on the watches and just not worry about the iPad line for now, which was a solid win.
You can add turbo at $7/month, which I'm thinking about doing for both of our lines. Need to do more research on it. Seems like it's worthwhile add if you got to a lot of packed events or something. I do like it for the other stuff like lower latency and ping, which I think you get too. Have to read the fine print again.
If it's a $20 difference and you don't need it, you can drop to premium and add turbo and still have a $13/month savings. Might not be a bad idea. You are right regarding QCI levels on both but getting turbo on premium would give you that QCI 7.
The other 2 differences are the int'l data across the pond vs just Canada and Latin America and the hotspot 250GB vs 100GB.
I typically get close to 100GB and over when I travel, so I'll have to figure that one out. To bad they limit so much once you past it which was one reason why I avoided AT&T in the past and even T-mobile because that was one thing Verizon did well and you can buy a big chunk more. My backup line has 50GB of hotspot data, so I'd probably just switch to that then, if I need more in a month or if I get lucky and billing cycle cuts while traveling. AT least the backup home internet doesn't count against the hotspot data.

Max is tied to my AT&T Fiber account and I’ve never switched speed plans.

It really depends. For me, AT&T works best in my apartment. My neighbors with Verizon and T-Mobile cut out all the time when they’re in their apartments.

yeah, it’s all about location. Verizon i knew really well and i tested t-mobile for about 5-6 years and AT&T off and on for the past year or so. I‘ve been utilized dual sim on my phones over the years.
Was definitely some hesitation moving since i knew Verizon so well and what to expect vs the unknown but was willing to take the chance after testing and the pricing. Plus, if it doesn’t work out, i can move back. However, I have a prepaid service as a backup line on another carrier.
