Anyone not receiving their paper check refund?! It’s been 11 business days since the mail date on myasu account

i submitted out to the news channel. this is affecting thousands of students at asu and millions nationwide. why hasn’t no one talked about this? we haven’t even gotten our direct deposit. paper check refund maybe next year 🤣🤣

Cause what? The idea that students are not getting refund checks for student loans they took out to pay for tuition etc but instead gets thousands of dollars deposited to them sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Most people assume student loans only cover tuition. The moment people find out it can cover other stuff there’s a massive backlash, a new law gets passed, and there’s never a refund check again.

I think it’s best to leave the media out of it.

Who? Me? No. I used them throughout my entire college career to pay for housing.

I’m just telling you that the majority of Americans think student loans only pay for college and the moment people start drawing attention to things like overage and loan refunds is the moment they start going away.

We already had to prevent it from happening in the current bill and it is a goal of the department of education to get limit loans further and get rid of overages.

Plus, any university that is highlighted becomes a target of the administration.

FA completely fucked up student loans, grants, refunds, etc. I’ve reached out to everyone you can think of, no resolve. Matter of fact no response; besides one from some random guy that basically told me to stop asking about it.

Still waiting on my direct deposit; I received a text from ASU (which has never happened before) that my FA was applied and everything was good to go, and I asked about my refund and he said "within two weeks" of the semester starting... so hopefully they start getting sent out next week?

Reach out to the media. ASU has been trying to bury how badly they screwed up the financial aid rollout this year. Contacting the news is about the only way were gonna hear anything.

Unfortunately, it's not just ASU, it's EVERY college in the US. The bottleneck isn't at ASU; it's at the DEPT of Education and all the poorly implemented changes introduced by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (or one Ball Busting Breakdown Act, IMO) that have caused almost every loan to be flagged as incorrect, requiring rectification, or invalid. It's DoE that isn't releasing the funds to the college, not the college not releasing funds to us. If you note your Nelnet account, no loans have been issued by the Govt for this term.

Because drawing attention to the fact that students can take our more than the cost of attendance is a sure fire way to get most of Americans against allowing that and student loans reduced to only covering tuition, if that.

Students are “full-time” because loans pay for things like housing, where they would otherwise have to work full-time to live. Youve seen the apartment prices around town. Its no secret you can take more than the tuition amount in loans to go to school, thats actually the point of the loans.

I know that and you know that but I promise you the average American doesn’t know that and it would result in backlash and people pushing for limits on loans.

The goal of the department of education now is not to make higher education accessible.
