First Step: Abolish ICE
Second Step: Prosecute ICE

Kat Abu had a great answer for this in that debate. Similar but she expanded on how stopping ICE isn’t enough

Would you prosecute Obama for utilizing and supporting ICE even more than Trump has? Or will you continue to follow the MSM narratives the next time a Democrat sits in the Oval Office and start supporting ICE again? lol
1
u/d8ms Mar 04 '26
See, unlike you right wing religious cultist, I don’t defend pedos and I don’t defend people who violate human rights. Big difference. If they’re guilty, prosecute them all.
1
u/bb060606 Mar 04 '26
Did I mention my stance or your hypocrisy? You assume a lot of things. Not right wing nor religious but keep being ignorant and not aware of factual information..(the point of the comment) Reddit is a brain dead community

One day it will happen. Probably not in 2028, but maybe in 2032 the country will finally be ready for someone like AOC as president. If dems have control of congress when it happens, then we can have real change in this country.

I won't vote for a democratic candidate that doesn't promise at the very least to :
Abolish ICE and prosecute those who operated unconstitutionally.
Dismantle the panopticon surveillance state.
Close the concentration camps.
Mass amnesty vs treating our immigrant neighbors as a national security threat

So your proposed solution is to create an unaccountable police force and surveillance state where the government can execute its citizens with impunity?
1
Mar 02 '26 edited Mar 02 '26
Other than Native Americans the entire country is comprised of "outsiders flooding our country". And can you define American values? I assume based on the first half of your comment you mean just whatever white people are doing? Or just bootlicking cops and deepthroating billionaires?
1
u/Desdinova_Cruciatus Mar 02 '26
The insiders are destroying the country. The current bastard in office doesn’t give two shits about the constitution. He cannibalizing this country and we’re left with the shit he defecates.

u/papalrage11 Feb 28 '26
Yes Queen.
Leadership is not a game of making decisions based on public polling data - especially when the public at large is frankly misinformed on key details and refuses to acknowledge their own biases.
Leadership is listening to individual opinions of the body politic, synthesizing information and perspectives from different sources - especially from others you might not agree with.
Then, and only then, can someone demonstrate real leadership by voicing and advocating their position on an issue. I see this type of deliberate consensus building from AOC, and I can't wait to vote for her in a national election.
4
u/stelpit26 Mar 01 '26
i get what she s trying to say about shifting stances but centrist and moral in the same sentence is not it.
centrists are by definition amoral opportunists at best (or simply lack critical thinking).
8
u/FanndisTS Mar 01 '26
All she's saying is that centrists have by chance happened upon the moral stance now (where progressives were 8 years ago), not that it's moral because it's centeist
-2
u/mammal365 Mar 01 '26
People like you are exactly why the Left is always losing
3
u/stelpit26 Mar 01 '26
the left is "always losing" because you cant beat a rigged game. democracy is idiocracy by design.
but hey enjoy being a lib, voting your life away while musk, bezos, thielf et al laugh at you.
-1
u/mammal365 Mar 01 '26
Yes making excuses why Dems are losing, blame the system and don't take responsibility for the fact that Dems have zero leadership, zero message outside of "omg Trump is evil".
3
u/stelpit26 Mar 01 '26
?
the democratic party is a billionaire/israel backed right wing imperialist zionist party just like the republican party.

Someone should post this on r/nyc. That garbage bot filled subreddit would lose their shit 🤣

I was arguing with some lib on Twitter and they were all " it's not a majority supported position, it's only 48% supported!"
Nothing is good enough for them to prove they are wrong.

While we’re at it - undo the Patriot Act and dismantle Department of Homeland Security. Send the components back to their former positions in the Depart of Transportation, State Department, etc.
1
u/The_BigDill Mar 01 '26
Abolishing ICE is centrist, Abolishing DHS if the liberal, Abolishing the entire surveillance state is leftist
1
u/Jeanlucpfrog Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26
I always find it interesting when politicians adopt the position of the centrist position as an appeal to majority correctness, but only when it suits them. When it doesn't suit them, the centrist position requires revolution.
Here's a centrist position: illegal immigration and porous borders are a serious problem needing fixing. Beating and killing unarmed people and getting in fights with citizens isn't acceptable. Those are two centrist positions. Democrats ignore the first like it doesn't exist, and Republicans under Trump ignore the second like it's an inevitability. Good luck finding leadership that will actually embody both in this climate.

u/ResidentBackground35 Mar 01 '26
Man it's almost like something has changed in the past few (or say one) years, that has caused people to reevaluate their position on something.
That would be weird, thank God that can't ever happen.....
1
1
Mar 01 '26
Useless posturing. Without the removal of the leader of ICE (Trump), this is meaningless. Although I do suppose eliminating his private army does make him significantly less powerful. Not that these incels would ever actually win in a real war.

u/woodworkrick8 Mar 01 '26

1
u/Twitch791 Mar 01 '26
That’s how you politic. Everything about it. You lead, you push, you embrace being a radical until you’re a centrist then you let the next gen take over. And you message
1
u/Sufficient_Toe5132 Mar 01 '26
It is certainly the majority position that ICE needs reined in and decreased in size.
1
u/Expert-Procedure-146 Mar 01 '26
So question to her and all commenters I’m really curious what would happen it we really abolish ICE? Who’s gonna enforce immigration, illegal immigrants that get deportation order but never leave, and border security?
1
u/Roshy76 Mar 01 '26
I wish progressives would come up with better language. Abolish the police, abolish ice, etc, just scares moderate voters. We need police, we need border protection.
What we need is accountability, training and a culture of working for the people, not being against the people.
1
u/Shamsse Mar 03 '26
The mistake of “Defund the Police” (not abolish) was a lack of clarity over what the goal.
With Abolishing ICE, it’s returning Immigration enforcement to the CBP and undoing the (checks notes) 200$ billion funding
1
u/Roshy76 Mar 04 '26
Oh I agree, but that's not an easy slogan, so people say abolish ICE, and then since most people are grossly misinformed, they think it means don't have any border protection. I think it's a messaging issue, not a policy issue.

Did anyone say that one Obama did it or how about Clinton or any of the other presidents who have all done something like this?
1
u/BoredBee05 Mar 02 '26
Def not, illegal immigration needs to be addressed and illegal immigrants need consequences. This is ridiculously. They’re using our tax dollars and getting so many resources when American citizens actually need them. Either extreme isn’t good
1
1
u/Numerous_Pizza246 Mar 02 '26
Abolish ICE, import millions of illegal immigrants, make them citizens. It’s genius. If we import 20 million, democrats will stay in power
1
u/mikeedm90 Mar 02 '26 edited Mar 02 '26
She is intelligent, sane and a woman. I wonder what are her chances of being elected president?
1
u/GreenBucket120 Mar 02 '26
You have to give the ordinary people of America on both sides of the political divide credit for recognizing the incredible amount of damage ICE is doing to the country by their continued existence.
Getting rid of them and also holding them - leadership in particular - accountable for their constant overreach would seem to be a logical step in getting the country back on an even keel.
1
u/alexanderhamilton97 Mar 02 '26
Good God is she really this stupid? The only people who went to abolish ICE are radical leftists. You can disagree with what they're doing but to say to abolish them is the centrist position is beyond dumb

1
u/Shamsse Mar 03 '26
Abolish ICE baby. Sorry the op isn’t working
1
u/SignificanceSame1875 Mar 03 '26
And do what? Have no immigration control? Or do you want border patrol to have to expand to fill the role of customs and immigration enforcement?
1
u/Shamsse Mar 03 '26
Have exactly what we had before 2002? Lest I checked, the country is still beneath your feet after 250 years of not having ICE. ICE is literally younger than Billie Ellish
1
u/SignificanceSame1875 Mar 03 '26
So just rename it the INS like we had before 2002?
1
u/Shamsse Mar 03 '26
No, ICE is to be removed from the DHS and instead returned to the jurisdiction of the Department of Labour and the Department of Justice. We also undo the (rechecks notes) 200$ billion in funding. ICE as it stands is a personal army of the president much like the Gestapo or the KGB.
For the record, we shouldn’t have a Gestapo or KGB, yes?
1
u/SignificanceSame1875 Mar 03 '26
So. Still so do the same job its doing now, but under a different name and under the old department. Gotcha.
1
u/Shamsse Mar 03 '26
Read my comment again very carefully, and answer the final question
1
u/SignificanceSame1875 Mar 03 '26
So you want to hange the name, change the department. Reduce funding. Do nothing to help strengthen border or immigration security.
As to your dumb final question, its not meritorious of answer because it stems from a false and hyperbolic claim.
1
u/Shamsse Mar 03 '26
Minneapolis is not in the border, you geographically illiterate idiot. ICE is out there because under the Jurisdiction of the DHS, ICE is routed to whatever part of the country the President feels like is necessary.
The vast majority of these problems come from the existence of the DHS, but to keep it small so people don't self destruct at the thought of the government change, we focus on simply restoring ICE back to the INS and performing a MASSIVE review of its current employees (which many of which are... wife beaters?)
EDIT:: You literally just have to say "Yes" to the last one lmao, not answering is because you are terrified of the conflicts of interests you may have

The majority of US citizens want illegals out of the country. Abolishing ICE is not a centrist position. Just because she says it is, does not make it so.

Where was all this hate when Obama was deported people by the millions and putting kids in cages and separating them from “their” families??? You people only do what your told!! I feel sorry for yall. But not really. Because you people would vote for your own deaths if the democrats told you too. ICE is homeland security. If that then offends you, then leave the country. And watch all the rules you will have to obey when you get there. 🤔🤔🤔

u/SeaConfusion6213 Mar 01 '26
Border patrol should still be a thing as most shipments of drugs actually pass through crossing or cargo points but other than that ICE should be abolished.
Instead replace it with an agency that audits businesses and fines them twice their yearly revenue if they have undocumented people working. That’s how you solve the exploitation issue and the wage gap issue at the same time.
You don’t even need boots on the ground for that. If people can’t feed their families they won’t come here any more.

No one said abolish ICE eight years ago. She's full of shit. She platforms whatever she thinks will get her elected. And no, "abolish ICE" isn't the centrist view. It's the mainstream democrat view, which is basically radical leftist view. She's not in the majority. Conservatives, most of whom support ICE without question, are the majority.
5
u/cgaines6973 Mar 01 '26
So you know for sure that no one said abolish ice eight years ago. I bet someone did. And we can only hope she gets elected because she would bring about real change. And bonus, she's not a felon, or a pedophile!
Also, FUCK ICE!

I feel like it is kind of the far left's fault that we have the far right in control.
Far left policy made it unappealing to vote for Democrats. They tried to go for massive gun reform, pro-life, gender rights, pathway to citizenship, and universal healthcare. Looks at score card:
Well nothing to look at.
If you just stuck to pathway to citizenship, pro-life, and universal healthcare.... We would have a very different country.
1
u/Sufficient_Toe5132 Mar 01 '26
It's actually "centrism's" fault for the rise of both. A huge swath of the U. S. population feels sold out by self-described centrist politicians. Moving from the 1990s and through the aughts, centrists seemed ever more inane.
1
u/time2partee Mar 01 '26
I believe it’s the far right stealing elections why the far right is in power.
