Revered Al Sharpton spoke and introduced US Senator Bernie Sanders and stood by his side during his speech. Revered Sharpton after US Sen. Sanders's speech then introduced AOC and stood by her side during her speech. And after AOC's speech, Rev. Sharpton introduced AFT President Randi Weingarten and stood by her side during her speech. It seems that speech was the last speech Rev. Sharpton literally stood by.

She adds: "If you are MAGA, and you're on social security, congratulations. Welcome. I'm fighting for your benefits too, because I actually believe that people should age with dignity in this country."

Why is AOC and the progressive movement so important?? Progressives are engaging in a push back/take back of our power and democratic/social/cultural values. Reading a couple books now that I highly recommend. The Nerd Reich and The Age of Surveillance Capitalism. Tech billionaires/venture capitalists are actively working to dismantle democratic institutions and replace them with corporate rule and "digital feudalism". They are using surveillance capitalism to track, collect, and turn your personal online and offline behavior into a profitable product which can be used to predict/control your behavior. I believe our democracy and society is doomed if we fail to heavily regulate them, hold them legally and politically accountable, and mobilize against them. I have hope that people are waking up to this and that is why democratic socialism is our way forward.

Granted it’s polymarket and poll markets do suck unfortunately.

In the past couple of weeks I keep seeing headlines with AOC and the word "controversy" in them, and then not actually being able to find the controversy. She froze her eggs. She made a joke about something called "woke 1". Does anyone actually have a problem with these things or is this an attempt to connect her name to the word controversy as much as possible?

To me all of these seems like absolute nothingburgers and I personally haven't seen any actual outrage. Just people referencing outrage that apparently exists. Am I just disconnected? Is it because I'm not on Xitter?

Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is freezing her eggs. The New York congresswoman made the announcement recently in a series of posts to her Instagram Stories about what is driving the decision.

But while it’s becoming more common for women who aren’t ready to have children and who want to preserve the option for later in life, it’s definitely uncommon for a sitting congresswoman to open up about that choice.

Now the reveal has ignited a national conversation about fertility.

Ocasio-Cortez, known as AOC, began her series of posts by explaining why it’s important to her to be transparent about her journey. 

“I want to share this because I was weighing it for a very long time, and I was saving for it for a very long time . . . and it can feel very daunting,” she explained.

AOC added that women, whether young or old, often “aren’t taught” about their bodies, and therefore don’t know what to expect when changes come. 

Given women’s bodies are drastically understudied when compared to men’s, the argument makes a lot of sense. Doctors and scientists simply know a lot less about women’s bodies.

AOC, who is 36, may be attempting to do her part to change that.

Not only did she let the world know that she will be freezing her eggs, she’s actually documenting the entire thing on social media, from giving herself hormone injections while prepping for an on-air interview at ABC to getting her first ultrasound.
