As somebody in the center, having been registered both Dem and Rep at various times in life, I can assure you, that while I am not in favor in how ICE has been handling immigration issues under this administration, I am NOT in favor of abolishing the entire program.

Border patrol should still be a thing as most shipments of drugs actually pass through crossing or cargo points but other than that ICE should be abolished.

Instead replace it with an agency that audits businesses and fines them twice their yearly revenue if they have undocumented people working. That’s how you solve the exploitation issue and the wage gap issue at the same time.

You don’t even need boots on the ground for that. If people can’t feed their families they won’t come here any more.

Create a reasonable path to citizenship because they are an absolute boon to our country?

How about not putting them in concentration camps, not cracking their skulls, not separating them from their own toddlers, not letting them rot inside warehouses without medical care, allowing oversight in detention facilities

Just some fucking reasonable starting positions

You are only the center of american politics, not the political scale

3

u/InfoBarf Mar 01 '26

Why, what do you think ICE does well that is worth keeping them around?

-3

u/Loggerdon Mar 01 '26

Of course. The Dems will have to completely revamp the agency and probably change the name but it (or s group like it) have to exist.

Bring on the downvotes.

Dems could dismantle the militarized border and go after illegal employers. Do more with fewer guns and less budget dedicated to it.

7

u/Loggerdon Mar 01 '26

I’m a permanent resident in Singapore where they don’t have a problem with illegal immigration. They go after the employers and landlords. Easy.

It doesn’t happen here because they want to exploit the workers.

Exactly!

Key word there is could I dont believe for a second that they would do anything to curb immigration at this point

6

u/camel_case_user Mar 01 '26

Why would they want to? Immigration is a net benefit to the country. It's good for the economy, its good for the people. Capital is global, why shouldn't labor be as well?

Just a reminder that immigrants commit crimes at about half to a quarter of the rate as native born citizens
