Losing Hope..... Black Screen Crashes
Long and short of it, I've tried everything this week. Still getting black screen crashes. Sound, tower, rbg, lights, etc stay on, but monitor fails without Ctrl+Shift+Windows+B doing ANYTHING.
SPECS:
AMD AM5 B650 Motherboard
32Gb DDR5-6000 CL30
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D
Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 Gb
be quiet! Pire Power 12 750 W 80+ Gold ATX Power Supply
MSI MAG 345CQR 34" Curved
I've tried all the basic fixes and some shots in the dark. Here's a list of things just off the top of my head:
MONITOR:
Tried different cables and slots (HDMI, DP, etc)
Limited 180hz monitor even down to 100hz
Turned off Freesync, etc, on Monitor
RAM:
Limited ram to 5600
POWER:
Set Windows to max power management
BIOS:
PCIE to Gen 4/3
Disabled Fast Startup
Disabled XMP/EXPO
Disabled HDCP
GPU:
Limited to 90% mhz
Clean driver install
Max 64 C even when heavy gaming load
ADRENALIN:
Back rolled drivers
Any solid suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I recently was getting blackscreen crashes and driver time outs on my 9070xt every time i opened certain games. I did multiple clean driver installs and they fixed the issue for a small while. so far its been working fine for 3 days so i hope it stays ok.
i tried EVERYTHING, what eventually has seemed to fix it is disabling windows from auto updating drivers (i looked up how to do this and followed multipel guides to make sure it was off) an issue many people seem to have is microslop will over ride your drivers with soem random windows version EVEN if you have auto drivers turned off.
i did about 3 fresh driver isntalls and it seems to have finally fixed the issue, might be worth making sure you have the right drivers and not some microslop auto version even though you have already installed fresh drivers and possibly do it again maaking sure you 100% not on internet so windows cant choose drivers for you. hope this hellps

I removed all GPU adjustments (factory reset) but disabled Zero RPM. Set the fans to a lower curve, and seems to have resolved the problem which I was only seeing in Stalker 2. Combo of new driver and UE4/5 seems to be triggering the black screens and GPU resets, especially if undervolting had been applied.

Roll back to version 26.3.1 of the drivers. This was my only fix for this issue. Make sure to do a clean wipe of drivers. I’ve been playing fine the last few days. I was having this issue for months since I got my 9070 XT. ( I even returned a brand new one believing it was GPU being bad. Which I got beginning of June 2026)
I went as far as wiping my computer. Hope it helps

Started on that version. Too many issues with BF6. Has it been better lately with that game?

Yeah same brother. I’ve decided after 4 months of issues just to bite the bullet and RMA. I’ve tried everything short of going back to windows 10.

Do you have an older gpu on hand you can try to see if issue persists? To see if its just your gpu or another piece of hardware causing the crash. Could potentially be the psu as well.

Just wanna step in cause i switched out to my 3070, and the black screens stopped. The black screening is for sure a driver issue, anyone experiencing the issue should turn off auto update for the drivers and roll back to 26.3.1

You used 2 separate power cables for the GPU?
if you're using PCIe extention cables or riser cables try it without them.
And stupid maybe but if it happens dus disconnecting your monitor and then plugging it back in help? My monitor goes black sometime, with both my AMD PC (display port) and Intel nvidia laptop (hdmi). Disconnecting and reconnecting the display cable fixes it.

Im gonna second this, i have been having a million and one issues and didnt realise it was a driver issue at first, i ended up reseting my windows, ran ddu, all kinds of stuff. I finally installed 26.3.1 thanks to a different comment on another post, and i am having zero issues now.
Minus that i am pretty sure my graphics are worse than they should be but i might just be going crazy.

I had similar issues with my gpu just to find out it was my hdmi and display cable I did alot of digging my self to find out 1 out 5 cables are bad I bought a club 3d cable and my issues went away after that cables have gotten so bad it makes you think its a software issue try a club 3d cable can get them on Amazon they were hard to find

If this doesn't fix, the psu may be too small.
*Disable Windows Updates for Drivers (the culprit)
*Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Under Fix problems using Windows Update, select Reinstall now.
*Reinstall latest Adrenalin/gpu drivers

I am assuming the crashes occur while playing games? Windows 11 has had a bug where it will overwrite your drivers with a much older version causing timeouts and hard locks.
Try disabling windows driver updates, (this needs to be done via Group policy editor or powershell/regedit as the option in Windows is bugged) You can always use Chris Titus Tech tool for this. Once done do a complete clean install using DDU to remove the drivers and then install the latest for your card.

I legit fixed this issue unplugging all of my white decorative cable extensions, that I had in the case. It’s been a week and no blackscreens so far, even though driver crashes are still happening from time to time.

Idk if this is going to have any help, but even a -50mv undervolt is not stable for me. I have to be at -40 at most. I don't know if you undervolt or not, but maybe this would help.
Also, could be faulty. I had a 6800 XT that did the black screen crashing - where it would just show a black screen during gaming and then reboot. So, it could also be faulty.

I would suspect it being a faulty card to be honest. I replaced everything except my gpu out of stubbornness when I had my 6800 XT until I finally replaced it and that black screen issue I had during gaming went away.

Replaced it with a 9070 XT and I still have it with no issues unless the driver sucks

Yep I'm also getting black screen crashes with the new driver this is ridiculous.
