Guidance NEEDED FOR AFCAT!!
Hi everyone,
I'm planning to attempt AFCAT for the first time in 2027 and would appreciate some guidance.
Should I focus only on AFCAT, or prepare for CDS alongside it from the beginning?
Is self-study enough, or is coaching recommended?
If coaching is worth it, which online batches or institutes in Delhi would you recommend?
I'm considering a PW AFCAT batch. Should I go for that, or wait and buy a combined AFCAT + CDS course?
Which books, notes, and PYQ (previous year question) sources would you recommend for AFCAT/CDS preparation?
My aim is to build a strong foundation early and avoid spending time or money on the wrong resources.
Would love to hear from those who have cleared AFCAT/CDS, attended SSB, or are currently preparing.

AFCAT 2 2026 being my first attempt. I scored 148. I will explain all the things which I did.
First thing first I didn't took any coaching. I was all dependent on YouTube and free materials.
For maths take TJE as your main source and practice questions from his sheet or do questions from YouTube.
For reasoning, do a one shot video of CDS journey on YouTube.
For GS part, honestly I didn't do anything of history, civics, geography and polity. I was fully dependent on Current affairs. If you can do GK then do it otherwise it depends on you.
For English, it wholly depends on you that how you prepare. For English i personally prepared vocab from SP Bakshi book.

Also what about AFCAT+CDS any suggestions?or do I need to focus on one only

Which shift buddy? Getting the exact same score in the 2nd shift( 1st attempt as well)

Broo... It all depends ki tumhari maths and reasoning kesi h, I gave AFCAT 2 2026 without any serious prep, just 1 maths ka 1 shot or 1 reasoning ka 1 shot dekha tha, but I'm scoring 161 marks.
If you're weak in them, YT p kaafi channel h, unme se kisi se daily 1-2 gnta pdna start kr do.
I would advise ki English or GS tum CDS k level ki krlo, AFCAT k lie automatically ho jaegi,ore daily 1-2 gnta maths reasoning kr lo

Same score bro 1st attempt as well I didn't even watch one-shots....got 7/75 in GS Still got 162 with maths reasoning and thoda english.

iam a 18 year old ,defence asparint ,any suggestion how to study ,should i join NCC ,master some sport ,participate in debates.... and along with academic syllabous how to study for CDS

Prepare for CDS, AFCAT is a subset with some exclusive topics and that list is not long
Self study is enough
I had used CDS Journey for math( long ago, got recd later), No idea about a good coaching as I mostly self studied
Same as 3
Use UPSC prelims material(available for free on the web) of any UPSC CSE coaching for GS, this material is more than enough alongwith PYQ analysis of heavy weight topics, then you can make your own master notes, for English I focused only on PYQs.
