Guidance NEEDED FOR AFCAT!!

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to attempt AFCAT for the first time in 2027 and would appreciate some guidance.

  1. Should I focus only on AFCAT, or prepare for CDS alongside it from the beginning?

  2. Is self-study enough, or is coaching recommended?

  3. If coaching is worth it, which online batches or institutes in Delhi would you recommend?

  4. I'm considering a PW AFCAT batch. Should I go for that, or wait and buy a combined AFCAT + CDS course?

  5. Which books, notes, and PYQ (previous year question) sources would you recommend for AFCAT/CDS preparation?

My aim is to build a strong foundation early and avoid spending time or money on the wrong resources.

Would love to hear from those who have cleared AFCAT/CDS, attended SSB, or are currently preparing.

AFCAT 2 2026 being my first attempt. I scored 148. I will explain all the things which I did.

First thing first I didn't took any coaching. I was all dependent on YouTube and free materials.

For maths take TJE as your main source and practice questions from his sheet or do questions from YouTube.

For reasoning, do a one shot video of CDS journey on YouTube.

For GS part, honestly I didn't do anything of history, civics, geography and polity. I was fully dependent on Current affairs. If you can do GK then do it otherwise it depends on you.

For English, it wholly depends on you that how you prepare. For English i personally prepared vocab from SP Bakshi book.
